The Morning Fix: Christmas Eve Edition

Happy Christmas Eve Addicts! I will be traveling from NYC to Cleveland today so I will be in and out. I’ll have my netbook with me so I should be able to get you updates fro the airport if need be. So far at least Johnson has blended in with the 9-5 Bengals. He was released by the Chiefs on November 9th, signed with the Bengals on November 17th and has now played in five games, running for 155 yards on 33 carries. The bulk of those yards came in a November 29th game against Cleveland, when he ran 22 times for 107 yards when starter Cedric Benson was dealing with a strained hip.

Fans were abuzz Wednesday over an accusation leveled Tuesday night through a Kansas City TV sportscaster. The fan, who was not identified by the sportscaster, said Haley flipped him off while walking into the tunnel right after Sunday’s 41-34 home loss to Cleveland.

Since Halloween Charles has outrushed his former superior by a margin of 604 yards. That number is a bit skewed as Charles has also carried the football 88 more times than Johnson. But the output specifically with the Chiefs isn’t skewed. Charles has revamped the team’s rushing offense with 141 carries for 759 yards in basically half a season. The other half belonged to Johnson, which produced 132 carries for 377 yards with the Chiefs.

“Any time you have to release a player it’s not a fun thing. I think all these guys have bought in and given everything they have and worked hard and played hard [but] sometimes in a situation it’s just not getting it done. But in talking to Scott [Pioli] we both said we’ve got to get this right. We’re trying to find the nucleus of guys we’re going to go forward with. Some of them are here and some of them aren’t here right now. We’ve got to formulate an idea of who those guys are sooner rather than later. We give guys opportunity to show that they can be a part of it. Sometimes they flourish and sometimes they don’t.
