With the embarrassment of being a Chiefs fan at an all time high, the best Christmas present the players could get the fans would be to shut down Larry Johnson Sunday when they play the Bengals.
Sure, the Chiefs may not be able to stop Cedric Benson, especially not when they are in the habit of giving up 250 plus yards to Jerome Harrison but Johnson, and his evil, must be stopped
You know the whole story about why Johnson was kicked out of Kansas City so I won’t recap it for you here. I will, however, refresh your memory about something Johnson wrote on his FB page a few weeks back.
“‘Gonna gallop all over the Chiefs. Cleat prints on the chests. Mud in the face masks.’”
Classy guy, right? Then again, you already knew that. If the Chiefs defense has any scrap of dignity left, they need to stop Johnson. They need to hit him in the backfield, rip the ball out of his hands and embarrass him the way he embarrassed the organization time and time again.
Johnson is only getting about 4 carries and a catch or two out of the backfield per game. This game is different though and everyone knows it. I am not saying Marvin Lewis is going to be starting Larry over Benson or anything but you have to imagine that he’ll be giving Larry a few extra carries. After all, Larry runs his best when he is angry, when he has a chip on his shoulder, right?
Wrong. Larry runs his best when he is behind Will Shields and Willy Roaf. Larry runs his best when he had gaping holes to run through. Larry Johnson is a washed up has been who only had couple of decent seasons due to the fact that he was running behind a Hall of Famer stocked offensive line.
Are the Chiefs better off without Larry Johnson? Surely you know the answer to this already but lets compare notes, shall we?
Caries: 141 for 759 yards.
Larry “Smack My B*tch Up” Johnson:
Carries: 165 for 532 yards.
The Chiefs can let Cedric Benson run wild for all I care but when Larry Johnson is on the field, they absolutely have to stop him. My big fear is that the Bengals get a big lead and Lewis pulls Benson to keep him fresh for the playoffs. This would mean Larry would come in and get a chance to exact his revenge.
There has been enough embarrassment in Kansas City this year. The last thing the fans need is for old 2.7 (as in yards per carry) to get his revenge.
