Mr. Positive Is Dead

Before this week’s game against the Browns, Mr. Positive, (me), was on life support after drowning all year on the incompetence that has become our Kansas City Chiefs. Yesterday’s game killed me.

As we thankfully begin the sunset of this season, I look back and dejectedly admit, that the 2009 Chiefs are not better than the 2008 Chiefs, despite the record. We are in trouble. There has been much more regression than improvement. We have invested heavily in our Defensive Line only to see it fall to pieces by a career back up (Jerome Harrison). I don’t know what to think, is Dorsey that good that we cannot play without him, or is Tyson Jackson that bad that our number three pick cannot hold the fort?

The defense and offense have regressed. There is no progress being made here. Albert has regressed, Waters has regressed, Mike Cox has regressed, and Dwayne Bowe has regressed. Only Charles remains the bright spot on offense. Our entire secondary has regressed, our linebackers are weak, and we still have no KR/PR. Our coaching is terrible. Haley certainly isn’t dropping the balls, over throwing the receivers, or missing tackles, but he is poorly managing the clock, calling bad plays, and benching players who should have been playing all along like Brad Cottam and Wade Smith for example.

So, I apologize to DD, Merlin, and other Addicts. I have no more energy to spin it anymore. I am spent. That is why you haven’t heard from me lately.  It is going to be a long, long offseason. Pioli better reach deep into his bag of tricks.
