Man it's been easy getting angry watching the Chief's this year. So here goes ..

First, I want to put a curse on Peterson/Edwards for the deconstruction of the KC Chief's. We have them to blame for first, trading Jared Allen and giving LJ a nice juicy contract - talk about a smart move and did that turn out well. Second, cutting Casey Weigman because they had a young stud in Rudy "can't snap or block" Niswanker - another intelligent move that has revealed their football IQ. Also, let's not forget they traded a future hall of fame TE in Gonzalez. I assume Cassell wouldn't mind having him as an option in the offense.
I have learned that a Team should be built around drafting an O-line. After looking at all our top draft choices on defense and looking at what other teams have done (i.e. the Donkey's) drafting solid O-line players and the acquistion of experienced D-players it's apparent we placed our emphasis on the wrong side of the ball. What the hell has Tyson done this year? He's all but disappeared along with his teammate Dorcey. Why in the hell haven't we drafted or acquired a decent linebacker core. If I see another game where our opps TE has a career day I think I'm going to scream. If you don't have outside LB's putting pressure on the QB it'll never stop.
Next comes Matt Cassell, wow has he been underwhelming!! How many wide open receivers has he under or over thrown? Too many to count and too many to pay millions of $$ for. I don't think I've ever seen a supposed "pro" quaterback literally drop a football when he went to throw a pass .. no pressure just simply drop the ball. Hell he doesn't even have the weather to blame.
Finally, when is the Hunt family and Pioli going to realize you need to spend money to make money. We need to spend some serious $$ in free agency to get the quality players needed to be a contender. Short cut hell I want to see a winning Team and if we have one there'll be plenty of tickets sold to support them. I don't think there's any better fans than a Chief's fan ... we will spend our hard earned $$ if we have something to spend it on.

Whew I do feel better .. now if only the Chief's can win Sunday so I can a little fun on Monday at work :P

cclary: I think Pioli's been sittin' on the money because he wants to be RIGHT and not just spend it to spend it. I think there's still some roster-wide upgrading to do in quiet ways before breaking the bank for a small number of costly moves.

Vrod: "First that INT—No excuse, Cassel is being paid 60 Million bucks to play the position, he should have the common sense to move to the side to keep from hitting guys in the freaking helmet."

I agree. Cassel needs to improve his pocket awareness, or whatever you want to call it. Bouncing a pass off a defender's helmet says he doesn't get it. On another play, the pass-rusher had left his feet and instead of using it against him, he just wound up and let the guy knock down the pass. A QB with skills knows he has the defender at his mercy once he's left his feet, but Cassel had zero street ball in him for that.

He's kinda damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. We'll castigate him for not seeing the open man, and _I_ will castigate him for not being able to use his feet to buy PLENTY of time against a 3- or 4-man pass rush. If if his O-Linemen are TREE STUMPS, he oughta be able to use them to pick 3 or 4 rushers and buy plenty of time with his mobility. He just seems very unsure of himself with regard to the difference between real and imagined pressure. The great ones make subtle moves that frustrate pass rushers.

DD: "3) Why can’t our LB’s ever seem to defend TE’s? I guess it’s just a hard thing to do when you have next to no pass rush."

Not many LBs are built to cover today's TEs. You need a big safety. You're making a case for drafting Taylor Mays.
