Merlin:

Dorsey was drafted a DT because that's what he is. Our pass rush is pathetic and if the "word" is coming from Clancy Pendergast, than that's all the more reason to trade him. Not saying he's a bad player or has no potential, but he's not really doing anything as a DE. At all. 3-4 is not his forte.

The more draft picks we can get the better the odds are of increasing the talent we have. I'd prefer to see them go hard after McNeill. I want them to take either Berry or Mays with that first. Even if they can't trade down or acquire more picks, our 2 in the 2nd should be on Fox and Williams (if available).

So with that thinking:

R1 #6 FS Berry/Mays
R2 #33 OT Jason Fox
R2 #49 NT Dan Williams
R3 #67 WR/KR Marshawn Gilyard
R4 #101 TE Aaron Hernandez

We still need to address the OL and find a pash rush and a secondary, but Berry/Mays, Fox, and Williams, would make an immediate impact. With an effective pash rush the secondary doesn't have to be beyond superb. Obviously without it...well each Sunday speaks for itself.

Quaz:

Dan Williams will never last until round 3. You and 102 really have a hard-on for trading Dorsey. Word is that the coaching staff really likes him. I don't see Dorsey being moved at this point.

Trade Dorsey and a fifth to Tampa for their 2nd and 3rd. DJ and a fifth to NE for one of their 2nds. That would give us 4 2nd rounders and 2 in the 3rd. With those picks, and the 1st rounder (if Berry stays in Tenn), I'd take:

R1 #6 OT Russel Okung-Oklahoma State
R2 #33 DE/OLB Jerry Hughes-TCU
R2 #37 OT Jason Fox-Miami
R2 #49 WR Arrelious Benn-Illinois
R2 #57 CB Javier Arenas-Alabama
R3 #67 SS Darrell Stuckey-Kansas
R3 #70 NT Dan Williams-Tennessee
R4 #101 TE Aaron Hernandez-Florida

Obviously this doesn't solve our OL problems, we still need a center which is why I'd bring back Weigman, and sign Tait for added depth. Also, if we could trade down (and somehow sign McNeill), I'd take Terrance Cody with the 1st.

And should we weasle another 2nd rounder out of trading down, try to pick up another LB like Sergio Kindle-Texas, or a CB like Kareem Jackson-Alabama. Instead of Dan Williams (if we picked Cody), draft WR/KR Marshawn Gilyard from Cincy in the 3rd. That's a big IF tho.

In FA I'd go after Seymore if McNeill is unavailable (I'd go after him anyway). As well as Shawn Merriman at LB, and either Thomas or Morrison from Oakland. There are several excellent OL that could be brought in and save us the draft picks, but Clark's pockets aren't that deep so we take what we can get.

Once that OL is boosted tho, Charles, Smith, and Battle (if he can stay healthy, same goes for Smith), could/should be able to rip it in the run game. Charles just needs to learn how to hang on to the ball.

Hmills,

I would agree to adding more secondary help. Just look at all the elite teams in the NFL this year, they all chunk the ball. If we happen to win 6-7 games and drop in the draft order, then maybe take J. Haden if Berry isn't there.

Rashad Jennings will be a star when he gets his shot. Jones-Drew has been quoted several times saying that Jennings is a stud. I wish we drafted him last year, instead of Lawerence. Besides look at our late round picks in 09!

102win: I don't mean to pick on you, but trade a pair of 5th rounders for a RB whose equal you could likely get with one of those 5th rounders? What's so special about this kid, and why would a rebuilding team want to be trading picks for players, when they could bring in their OWN guys with those picks?

102win: Berry would be a fine addition, but I wouldn't stop there. In this league, I think you need quality in depth at corner and safety like never before, and you have to be aggressive to get it.

I'm not ready to throw Clancy under the bus, although I was disappointed with his relatively vanilla scheme against SD.

DD: NT isn't the missing piece. It's A missing piece. A pretty big one, but Chiefs need some serious help in the secondary, as well.

I'm not too keen on seeing any old, former head coach come in and be a coordinator for our young HC. Haley's as smart as 'most any HC around, and quite a few of THEM call their own plays, without the rest of us battin' an eyelash. I'd like to see a QB coach come in, for sure, and probably another offensive assistant with some or all the duties of OC, but not necessarily all.

This next draft is not very top-heavy. An excellent time to trade down for extra picks in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds, because it's DEEP. About the only thing I'd want to spend a 1st on is Eric Berry and he's makin' noises like he ain't comin' out in 2010.

I'd like to see Weis here and I wouldn't complain about Crennel because he's a major upgrade over Pendergastly. But I agree, how will our volatile coach respond when he thinks he knows more about offenses and play calling than somebody like Weis or Gailey?

And what are they going to do with Derek Johnson?

I've thought a lot about Seymore coming here and I'd love to see it happen. Same with McNeill and Breaston. I don't see it happening in an uncapped season tho, which I think 2010 will be. If we can't sign McNeill, we need a back up plan.

I still say bring back Weigman and Tait (both are FA's this offseason), draft Fox, hold off on a center until Kris O'Dowd enters the draft and use that 3rd rounder for Marshawn Gilyard WR/KR from Cincy if he's there. Our OL wouldn't be what it was and would still need addressed, but it would buy time and be a vast improvement over what we have now.

DD,

Dorsey has improved, but he is a 4-3 guy plain and simple. I would send him to Tampa, they could take Suh and with Dorsey they would be happy getting those two guys with their first three picks. I would be happy with our additiions of a OT and a Center with their picks.

I want to sign Seymour, that will make Dorsey tradable. I know this is a bit of a stretch, but our oline could be: LT McNeill, LG Alberts, C Tennant, RG Waters, RT Fox.
D Line Seymour,Williams/Edwards,Jackson with McGee rotating in. LB's: Hughes and Hali outside,Micah Johnson and D. Williams inside. Don't forget about BERRY. WR's Bowe,Breaston,Chambers and Long. RB's Charles and Jennings. TE Hernandez is a stud! And a real Kick Returner. We have the money to do this, and with the added picks we would still have a young team!!
