Stop Crying Over Bernard Pollard

No surprise really since Mr. Pollard occassionally made some big plays for the Chiefs too. However, he seemed to make more bad plays than good. That coupled with his “Freelancing Out Of Position Diva Attitude” cost him his job. So before everyone starts crying about Pollard, please remember a few good plays does not a good player make. Pollard is gone, it is time to move on. Just my two cents.
F.Y.I. Mr. Pollard was the starting strong safety on a defense that let Chris Johnson and Vince Young run for 224 yards. Sound Familiar?
I agree what exactly has he done for a Texans 5-5 team.
November 24th, 2009 at 12:52 pmThe reason Pollard doesn’t have a job with the Chiefs is because he didn’t shut his mouth and let another man talk to him in a degrading manner. Pollard is better than any safety the Chiefs have on the roster right now and that is a fact. The Texans defense has made a drastic improvement since Pollard became a starter and he has been credited for that turnaround. It was discussed a few times last night. Once again………You slurp Haley/Pioli instead of recognizing the reality that they let the desire to be a bully come before what is best for the football team. Keep on slurping.

Comparison stats:
Pollard’s replacement, Mike Brown, is the starting strong safety for a defense that gave up over 500 yards to the Steelers. Against Jacksonville, over 400 yards. Against San Diego, I think you get the picture . . .
Or perhaps we just could talk about Mike Brown and the angles he takes?

What did Pollard ever do for the Chiefs? I know you are not advocating that he was a great SS because he wasn’t/isn’t (I agree Mike Brown is not cutting it too). The point is Mr. Beat Writer Kent Babb needs to let it go. This is not his first tweet about Pollard.
and dbk301: it is so easy to pick on Pioli and Haley when the chips are down. You and others seem real good at it.
November 24th, 2009 at 3:58 pmI watched the whole game and Pollard’s performamce was almost flawless. Everything that was wrong with him, he has improved. As comes with age. He has only been there a few weeks and he’s already a leader on that team. He’s a great safety and he will be missed.
But i do get your point. Pioli and Haley really screwed up here, but theres no point crying over spilt Pollard. If we dwell on every mistake this team makes… well we will be doing alot of dwelling.
He’s gone and he won’t be back. So instead of talking about past mistakes, lets talk about all the mistakes still to come.
November 24th, 2009 at 5:10 pmIt’s a little tough to blame Pollard for our defense’s poor showing this season considering he spent most of his time on the bench subject to Haley’s psychological gulag for “non-right” players. Last season? He was merely the leading tackler on a bad defense. If the leading tackler for your defense is your SS, that says a helluva lot more about your defense than it says about the play of your SS. Just give the guy a break would ya?
You say Kent Babb has the Pollard fixation? I say maybe you need to take a good hard look in the mirror on this one buddy!
November 24th, 2009 at 5:13 pmTim, your mancrush on pollard is amusing. Pollard is an OK safety on not that good a D. He was the same here. Why is that so hard to understand. If you guys watch him, he makes mistake after mistake after mistake. A broken clock is right twice a day, the sun shine on a dogs ass every now and again, etc, etc. Average Player with questionable attitde toward coaching staff = GTFO. Tim, Pollard a great safety? Are you F’n kidding me? Do you even watch the games? Have you ever played football? Do you understand how the game is played? You and DD should hold each other while you cry about the mental and physical toughness TH is trying to instill in this team.

I’m like Haley, I have coached but I have never played. Like any player, it’s all about assignments. Except for three plays in the TEX v TIT, i would say Pollard had a perfect game. At the end of every play, even plays to the other side of the field, you see Pollard on screen around the ball. He has great instincts and knows the game of football. He’s a great tackler and has good acceleration. Given the right play calling and luck, he could easily be a Pro ball SS.

We have now won 50% more games than last year and heading into the better part of our schedule.
If we win 50% of the remaining games we can have as many wins as the last 2 seasons combined.

sometimes it seems that every game I watch there is a former Chief making a big play for another team,,,,,Pollard has a great future in the NFL,,,,,,, but not with the Chiefs so lets get on with it and try to beat the Chargers…….

November 25th, 2009 at 7:36 amWhy don’t we focus on how well our team did to beat the current Super Bowl Champions!!! Who gives a crap about players that aren’t here anymore. They didn’t fit the Pioli/Haley scheme and so far I am impressed with what they are doing. Did ANY of us think we would be able to beat Blitzburg at any time of the season? I doubt it. I have said it before, if we can beat the Dolts this Sunday, there is no excuse Haley can give about us winning out. The Dolts are a much better team than the Ben-gays and really believe if we beat the Dolts, the Ben-gays should fall to us as well. That all hinges on the simple fact that the team that showed up at 1 Arrowhead Drive last Sunday, shows up to the rest of our games. Great win! We should be talking about that not former players, whether they wanted out or Pioly/Haley wanted them gone. I know it sucks seeing guys leave our team and going to Super Bowls or Pro Bowls, but that is how it goes. Sometimes a player needs a change of scenery to actually reach their potential.

November 25th, 2009 at 9:21 amFirst of all, I do want Pollard back. He’s better than what we have, whether you think he sucks or not, and it was stupid to trade him.
Second, I know everyone is excited about the big win (me too!) but let’s not get hasty and start saying we should win the rest of our games. I expect us to drop at least one to Denver and also lose to the Bengals and Chargers.. but maybe we can split the series with the Broncos and best the Bills and Browns for a pleasantly surprising 6-10 finish.
That will help me find some confidence in the team’s new leadership and look forward to a winning season (could it be?) next year.
