Roster Moves

Posted by: Double D

As many of you probably already know, the Chiefs just acquired 31 year old WR Chris Chambers off waivers from the San Diego Chargers. The Chiefs also placed FS Jarrod Page on IR due to an ankle injury (torn calf muscle by some accounts) suffered in the loss to San Diego. To shore up the secondary, FA CB Travis Daniels has also been added to the roster.

First topic of discussion: Given Coach Haley’s penchant for using a player’s willingness to play while injured as a measure of that player’s toughness & comittment, should we automatically assume that Page’s injury is serious enough to warrant IR status? Is the fact that Page is currently under a one year contract (as best I recall anyway) of any significance in this move?

Second topic: What does Chris Chambers add to this team? Will he help free up Bowe, Bradley, Engram, Wade, etc? Is he among the right 53? Will he continue to underperform this season, or can we expect him to step it up a notch now that he is a part of the Chiefs offensive system? Will he deliver his presumed 2.25 million in value over the next 9 games?

Topic #3: How excited are you about the addition of Travis Daniels?

            BallHype: hype it up!

If you have’nt already, you need to see the sign that the chiefs posted up in the hallwar or lockerroom. It’s on the arrowhead pride site. That sign alone is worth a million words. I freaking love it!!

    vbchief,

Aren’t we getting a little off-topic there fella?

My response – the fact that the Chiefs felt some kind of need to post this on their website says a lot. It’s damage control, plain and simple. Frankly, I’m starting to get a real bad feeling that Todd Haley may have already lost this team. I hope not.

How stupid does Haley feel now for cutting Bernard Pollard?

Haley has to start setting an example and lose the attitude thats ruining any chance of team chemistry. He’s been a wrecking ball on the roster so far and this type of thinking (benching and cutting whoever on a whim), is setting a course to disaster for years ahead.

People joke about who’s worse, the Chiefs or the Royals. Its disheartening because we have one of the TOP executives in the league as our GM, and a young, firey coach who has a lot of potential. But rather than settle and utilize the resources available (and that were available earlier this offseason), we’ve progressed into a landslide of monumental collapse. We’re better and should be better than this.

I hope theres a plan for next season, but Haley has to get his act together and stop trying to rule with an iron fist by benching, threatening, and cutting his best players. Thats not football. Thats ego. And with that mindset leading this team, its not going to get us anywhere, especially in terms of being serious contenders.

You know what I think that sign really says . It says ” tough times don’t last, but tough people do” so quit bitching , put your work boots on and lets work on turning this thing into something positive! I dont think that Haley has lost this team, and that sign was’nt meant for L.J. directly (probably) and even if it was I’m sure they really don’t give a crap anyway. This team needs to come together right now and start doing what they have been doing their whole lives. Just play football!

As far as Page goes, I would like to think that he was sent to IR strictly based on his injury. However, who knows! We will never know. I do know that we do need our coach to settle down and concentrate on the most current 53 players, not who is on the street. Obviously if you need a hole filled due to injuries and you can only get it off the street, then you do what you have to do. Which leads into the Chambers pick-up. I thought Haley was a recievers coach. We have already picked up enough old ass passed up recievers. Why not concentrate on coaching the talent we currently have, especially in our younger guys. I guess my ignorance is due to the fact I am paid to be in the military, not as an NFL coach or GM. I just find it somewhat pathetic that we are picking up a reciever half way through the season that was dropped from a fellow AFC West contender, that will probably not contribute any more than the Wade’s or Engram’s!

I’m not sure about the Chambers deal,,, and I hope Page recovers 100%,,, I do think it was a mistake to let Pollard go, that guy was great. I think D. Bowe needs to concentrate more on his catching skills and less on his own self proclaimed greatness…
    GO CHIEFS!!!!!!

It’s sad to see Page go to the IR, I hope he’s truly injured. This will just give more time for McGraw to show us what he can do.

Travis Who? Maybe he’ll be the next Leggett (he was signed off the street right?)

I believe you build a good team from the inside out, and we clearly do not have a successful “inside” With that said; We can add as many WR’s as we want but if Cassel doesn’t get time to throw, what does it matter?!?!

The real question I keep asking myself (and I think this comes from living in Denver and listening to every one love on the Donkeys, after their terrible off season where they called for the coaches head before he stepped on the field) If Haley was bashing these players and treating them the way he does and we were winning would we care?

What sign? I went on the Arrowhead Pride site and did not see anything.

    1. I hope Page recovers and returns next season. I’d hate to lose the Raider Killer.

    2. The Chris Chambers signing underwhelms me. Haven’t we signed enough receivers that everyone knows won’t make much if any impact on this team (Engram, Toomer, Lelie, etc.)?

    3. Don’t get too excited. We signed Travis Daniels in the offseason and subsequently cut him. Now he’s back. Whoopie.

Don’t be surprised to see Brandon Carr traded to the Texans due to this new addition…

    Fuck Todd Haley.
