LOL I love some of the comments next to your grades.
I think you rated the offense perfectly. I think your extremely generous with the front 7 on defense (Hali in particular) and too hard on the secondary, we gotta remember this team is 31st in sacks. People were bashing Champ Bailey about 3 years ago when Denver had a horrible pass rush that was still better the pass rush we got. Line up any pro bowler in our secondary and they will not be dominant in coverage because the pass rush is weak.
Mays with a ‘B’ when he gets beat like a rented mule in pass coverage? Incompletes are a teachers cop out. Not a bad effort, but give Albert, O’Callaghan and Pioli some grades.
Looks like the teacher might not get a shiny red apple with all those problem students…. Larry gets a OSS,, ha thats a good one,, maybe he should be expelled,,,
great post
recess is over,,,,,GO CHIEFS
ha ha ha . . . these were great however I disagree with the below:
Brandon Flowers – C Hasn’t lived up to expectation
Brandon Carr – C Inconsistent
I believe with a more consistent pass rush these boys would be living up to expectations.

Mad dawg you are out of your mind if you don’t think Tamba deserves the grade he was given. This new 3-4 has propelled him into a better player. He can use his speed and quickness, which he showed on numerous occasions when Jared Allen was here, to get penetration. It is not his fault the DB’s cannot wrap up tackles and consistently let guys blow by them. These guys all need some good coaching and I think they are getting it, but they just need a year or two. I know that sucks, but that is the point Carl let us get to.
He has 3 sacks in 7 games, you could find about 70 other guys with 3 or more sacks this year, so you give him an A based on run stopping or what? Whether we are talking run stopping or pass rushing its crazy to pretend Tamba, or anyone on this defense is dominant. IMO to give a player an A means they should be a Pro Bowler or at the very least a Pro Bowl alternate. Ask any non biased NFL fan if they think Tamba should be a Pro Bowler and they will think you are on drugs.
Chiefs are 31st in total turnovers (only beating the redskins) and 31st in sacks (only beating the jags), sacks and turnovers affect impact the game way more than yards and its how a lot of people rate defenses, so it would not be crazy to say this is the NFL’s worst defense based on those facts.
The secondary problems you mention are a result of the pass rush. This pass rush would make Champ Bailey look bad in coverage. Better pass rush means more turnovers. Your right it sucks waiting another year or two, I’ve been waiting patiently for years now, I’ll wait until the day I die but I don’t see this team going anywhere until they can address the serious pass rushing issues everyone seems to be denying.
Pioli and Haley need an F. It could double for failures and frauds. They have been complete jokes.
dbk301,
I disagree with you 100%. Our record is nothing to brag about by any means, but Pioli and Haley weren’t given a well oiled machine to work with. In fact, they were given an old rusty 1979 Ford Pinto and were asked to make something of it. Changing a team atmosphere from the ground up doesn’t take overnight.
In the likes of school, Pioli and Haley are new transfers that haven’t earned a grade report yet. You cannot please everyone in the position of Pioli and Haley. I would think that Chiefs fan would cut them a little slack based on what they were dropped into.
Sean Ryan gets a B? Dude can not block and consistently drop passes. Anything more than a C- is being extremely generous.
Jon McGraw C+
cjjones – Your suggestion that Pioli & Haley were given a “rusty old 1979 Ford Pinto” makes zero sense. Haley received the youngest team in the NFL to work with. A major attribute of quality coaching involves developing talent. All Haley has done is complain that this team lacks talent. Think about it. Haley D-.
DD:
What grade would you give Pioli so far?
Merlin,
First, consider this – the Broncos, also with a rookie head coach, have churned their roster about as much as the Chiefs have this year. Compare the results.
Pioli has a few excuses in his favor – late hire, etc but the way he is choosing to interact with us fans, with the press, with his team, on top of his personnel decisions has me scratching my head and asking myself whether he can truly be this stupid? At this point, I would give him no more than a C and add an evaluation comment to the effect that he needs to start living up to his much lauded expertise by providing some solid evidence that he is anything more than Bill Bellichek’s former lackey.
DD:
I think you are being generous with that C. The Broncos had more talent, but still, the results are very different at this point. I think a D for Pioli is giving him something.
81cjones,
They were dropped in a bad situation and have made it worse. Haley has shown himself to be in over his head and Pioli was negligent this offseason when he neglected to upgrade the offensive line. There was plenty of money to spend on upgrading areas of need on this team and he did nothing. Thus they are failures and frauds.
DD:
I thought about what you wrote. I agree with you to a certain extent. There has been a heck of alot of finger pointing going on. But this whole entire team is so young and inexperienced that it is hard to fully judge it all.
Majority of the players are young and lacking experience,
Pioli was hired on as a last minute start to this season, and Haley is really new at his first experience and head coach. If was forced to give a grade at this early stage, I would give Pioli and Haley both a C+ with much needed room for improvement.
