Instead of him going to Chicago, New England, or Philadelphia, what if he wound up in Denver? Putting a prototypical zone back like LJ into Denver's ZBS could spell big trouble for us (not to mention the rest of the league).

Some new legs in KC is exactly what we need. Larry Johnson was only the product of a good O-line. Jamaal and Kolby will bring a fresh set of skills to the table. I don't think LJ deserves to surpass Priest Holmes rushing record. Kick Rocks LJ...

I hope we let him go. I don't know if he wants out or not but I think Larry Johnson has been a festering boil on this team since he arrived. The Chiefs organization has always had stand up, class act players. Larry Johnson does not fit the bill. He is overrated, overpaid, disrespectful, self distructive and flat out doesn't get it done. I wish he would get out of my town.

kingpin: Ball skills don't equate with life skills. You're absolutely right.

DD: I've ALways felt that LJ's presence on the field was a liability the instant the O-Line was no longer dominant, and even in the halcyon days of Willie Roaf and John Tait, when facing the BEST teams, against whom the O-Line wasn't DOMINANT, LJ didn't have enough a wide enough skill set for the Chiefs to effectively attack in OTHER ways.

For instance, even in his prime, do you think his lining up in the slot as a changeup put NEARLY as much fear into defenses as Priest doing it? Has he ever scared anybody with a wheel-route disguised as a screen? How many times have you ever seen this scary RB JACK SOMEBODY UP in protections, like Maurice Jones-Drew will?

He can break tackles and he can get to the edge quicker than the off-side LB, but that's about it, even though I'm the first to praise him when he catches a screen. But it's more like a proud parent, excited that their 5-year-old has walked across the room unaided. Not like he's rippin' Beethoven licks on his play piano.

Not quite sure the one thing I said has anything to do with the other, but a LOT of these players are passed up the line with little attention spent to developing "normally" as people. They never have to outgrow their schoolyard bullshit, because we're payin' 'em for their schoolyard skill set!

I agree with #1 and #4. Season totals and YPC are just symptoms of o-line problems.

What's disappointing about LJ is how he handles himself as a man.

It's not the money that's a problem, chieflonghair. It's the problem of specialization. To be world class at ANYthing means you're giving up a lot in life that the rest of us take for granted. For instance, being able to play a good game of pool would tell a prospective employer that you were spending entirely too much time playing pool!

In my case, I roll a GREAT cigarette - something of which I oughta be ashamed...

We need to wave him and wave him now - I would be highly disapointed if he breaks Preist's all time KC Chief rushing record before he goes away.

I have never understood how someone with a great talent that commands a big paycheck can't seem to handle the task of being a good representative of the human race after they get paid,, I realize that all that money and attention would make almost anybody's life different and I think most athletes handle it well,,, but how can you ignore your roots (provided you were "normal" before) ,,, I think this all make the case that these athletes are just way overpaid for the good that they actually bring to everyone else,,, I blame the corporate sponsors for a lot of this,,, think about it,,, a shoe company sells there shoes here in the states for 75 bucks, said shoes cost 2 bucks to make in China, shoe company pays athlete 1000000 bucks to wear said shoes,,,, WHAT A COUNTRY,,, and by the way I love this country and I'm NOT leaving... Nascar, Hollywood and Washington DC are other good examples of the corporate stranglehold on us,,, things have sure changed over the last quarter century...

now I need to go shop for some new shoes...
