The only problem with feeding LJ the ball more this year is that he is not getting any yards. He looks slow and like he doesn't wanna be here. This is gonna make his value drop because teams like NE are not gonna want a crybaby on their team. They want football players, thats why they can take guys like Welker and make them superstars.

AFRob, I agree that it would be great if we could get something for LJ, who is likely NOT going to be at Arrowhead next season regardless, but I think we're missing the other side of the 'trade value' coin.

Simply running LJ this year to pad his stats and 'boost his value' is not sufficient to make this guy attractive to other teams. We have seen other 'troublemakers' leave one situation and succeed in a new environment: Randy Moss, Corey Dillon, Keyshawn, etc. The difference with LJ is that he's not simply frustrated by the Chiefs situation, he's a walking, talking negative headline. Whether it's misdemeanor charges for assault (real classy, Larry), or whining to the media during his holdout (which Carl pandered to, to the sum of $19 million in guaranteed money ($45 with incentives).

I'm not saying that a team won't take a flyer on him, but they know that LJ has no home in KC anymore, so what's their incentive to pay us top dollar? If he's going to be cut eventually anyway, why not just wait?

I know that the same argument was made about Trent Green, and we ended up with a 5th rounder for him, but Green was a stand-up, classy guy.

At this point, I'd like to see some integrity from our front office and simply cut him. It's not about the money or production loss. For me, cutting him now would send a message to the fans that the 'new' ownership, new GM and new coaching staff are TRULY going to run things differently, and that this kind of behavior (not just calling out the coach via Twitter, but using slurs and taunting fans about his salary) will not be tolerated in KC.

I've been a chiefs fan since I was 7 years old. For the first time in 18 years, I've been considering the possibility of leaving the Chiefs, primarily because of the way they handle (or don't handle) situations like these.

Which brings me to DD's point about whether or not Larry is simply voicing what other players in the locker room are thinking. While I recognize that as a possibility, (who wouldn't be frusted on a 1-win team), I'd be less concerned about short-term frustration and more concerned about the culture we're creating. If this type of behavior only elicits a 'slap on the wrist (or the pocketbook), I'd look for less unity in the locker room on the whole.

I'd rather cheer for a losing team with integrity than a winning team with none.

Right now, the Chiefs are a losing team, and the integrity piece is up in the air, IMO.

I hope they do the right thing, not necessarily from a business standpoint (remember, we have the most cap room of any team in the league, and next year is likely to be an uncapped year - the money's a non-factor)...do the right thing for the fans, for the organization, simply based on human principles that we can all ascribe to: honesty, decency, and tolerance.

Maybe this is what this team needs to fire up the coaching staff. Why haven't we fired the offensive line coach yet? Maybe the Chiefs can talk Will Shields into coming in and coaching these lineman. Pioli needs to be on the phone trying to hire someone to call plays. Haley has to much on his plate to worry about that, and i think that is our biggest detriment to date. He doesn't trust his players to run anything but a few set plays. If they hired a coordinater then Haley can concentrate on things like Larry. Now as for Larry i say fine him $200k but play him the rest of the season and give him the DAMN ball to try to increase his trade value then dump his sorry ass after the season. He makes way to much money to just cut and i think he still has something left so why not get something for him, and use it to improve the team. We all know he is a punk and is going to embarrass you in some way. I just think it would be a waste to not get anything for him. If anyone out there really thinks keeping him is going to be a detriment to this team, have you watched them play they can't get any worse can they? And i don't see them getting much better without him, so why not keep him and try to get soemthing for him in the offseason when teams who are close to a championship might over pay a little bit for him. i.e. New England!!!
