Deep Thoughts (Chargers vs. Chiefs)

by Chiefs

In case you were wondering, this is what the players where thinking Sunday during and after the game:

Jamaal Charles: “If I don’t block this special team guy in front of me, I can get down the field faster to miss my tackle of the punt returner”. (Missed block leads to blocked punt)

Sean Ryan: “Why should I use my hands to make a catch, the chest works just as good”. (Another pass bounces off his chest and into the arms of a defender)

Dwayne Bowe: “It is much better to drop a few passes, that way no one can expect me to make every catch; it also add suspense”. (After another dropped pass)

Rudy Niswanger: “Yes! You’re not going to have Rudy Niswanger to push around any more”. (After serious knee injury)

Todd Haley: “I should have never made that comment about ‘any 22 guys off the street’ could do better than 2-14”. (After another humiliating loss)

Dustin Colquitt: “I am going to have to file a work comp claim for repetitive injury” (After punting more than he should)

Kenny Smith: “Now I know why this team signed me up after not playing a snap in 6 years” (After perusing his new cohorts on the D-line).

Clancy Pendergast: “On critical third downs at pivotal points in the game, I always blitz everyone without any regard to leaving an open receiver in the flat. I know that my players will never get to the opposing QB on time, but they other team doesn”t. (After Darren Sproles’ 48 yard TD pass).

Brandon Carr: “There really is no need to locate the ball until it is in the receivers hands, that is when you know when to tackle him” (after another big receiver catch right over his back).

John McGraw: “There really is no need to locate the ball until it is in the receivers hands, that is when you know when to chase them” (after another big receiver catch right over his back too).

Matt Cassel: “It’s okay, interceptions happen in threes.” (After throwing his third interception)

Matt Guiterrez: “Oh God no!” (After being inserted late in the game).

Larry Johnson: “I wonder if Todd Haley wants to go golfing later” (After getting off the phone with his father).

How about yours? Addicts, you got any? We need something to CHEER US UP!!!! Go Chiefs. Next year here we come.

I'll stick up for Clancy, here.

Wasn't that long ago that a MUCH better DC (Gunther Cunningham) ran the D the way you'd like him to.

Result? Death by a thousand cuts. When neither the 4-man rush nor the blitz are working, I'd go with what at least gave me a CHANCE of creating a QB error.

I haven't given it a whole lotta study (It's so tough to watch). I'm not sure just why they're failing to get better pressure when they DO send the house. Are these opposing offensive lines all that good, or are the blitz packages poorly designed (that'd be on Clancy and Krummie), or is it just sub-par talent?

Last year's D wasn't all that great, either, but they were a little better at stopping long TD scores. Personally, I'd rather give up the big one than give up a 20 play drive. In either case, people are liable to cry for the DC's head on a plate. And even though the failures in execution in the secondary are many, I'm a lot happier seeing them fail trying to man up than see them continue their losing ways in a soft zone.

That's about par for the course from you ;)

Haley: "NFL is like golf, right? We need to stay as close as we can to zero to have a chance of winning?"

INTERESTING COMMENTS FROM TMZ ABOUT LJ

Glaad kills me, what a bunch of hypocrites. What about your boy Perez Hilton when he was slinging the F word after he got in a fight outside a club. Where were the calls for punishment and firings then? Your only comments then were "We are disappointed in Perez". I guess it only applies when someone else does it.. Your offended? LOL Glaad offends people on a daily basis

LOL. How do you get into our players heads like that. Maybe you can drop some mind nuggets or subliminal messages in there to play like they are in the NFL not UFL.
