I Expect A Big Day From Tamba Hali

by Chiefs

Tamba Hali is playing his ass off. Unfortunately for him, he has been missing the QB by a matter of milliseconds. This season he has 14 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. So far he has faced some good teams with some good tackles and they have been just good enough to keep him a breath away from their QBs.

Here is a look at what Tamba has faced:
Ravens: J. Gaither, LT, M Oher, RT
Raiders: M Hendersen LT, E Pears, RT
Eagles: J Peters, LT, W. Justice, RT
Giants: D Diehl, LT, K McKenzie, RT
Cowboys: F Adams, LT, M Columbo, RT

This week he is facing an O-line missing its number one left tackle, Chris Samuels. He will be facing three year back up: Stephon Heyer at LT, and out of shape and out of football since 2006: Mike Williams at RT.

Tamba Hali has to be “chompin’ at the bit” for this weekend’s game. Tamba will create problems for RT Mike Williams, due to Mike’s slowness, recent inactivity and well documented weight problems. Let’s face it; Mike Williams was released from Buffalo and Jacksonville because he was not that good. Even though he has lost some weight, do you believe he has gotten better since 2006 while eating donuts and Twinkies?

Even if he is lined up against LT Heyer, Tamba should still fare well. The Washington Times wrote two articles in the offseason (June) stating that Heyer barely won the RT spot (during OTAs) beating out Mike Williams and Jeremy Bridges (who they released). That does not speak volumes about his ability, does it? Heyer has struggled at times playing left tackle. He yielded 3.5 sacks in four starts last year and was beaten for a safety in last Sunday’s loss to Carolina.

The Redskins O-line is in shambles and Tamba and the Chiefs should capitalize. What do you think?

I am putting so much confidence in our D that I am actually going to put them in my FF lineup.(For the hell of it) I honestly think we will see at least one Def TD. I know Tamba will have a hell of game, but I think Dorsey just might have a breakout game as well. As far as the O, I really hope we see more of Charles in the backfield. I think he can be the difference maker as long as he holds on to the ball.

Washington has more playmakers on offense (Cooley, Portis, and Moss) but they have suffered injuries to two starters on their offensive line. Even with the injuries they have the edge on offense.

However, I don't see us running on Fat Albert and the Redskins have had a good pass defense. I just don't see our offense doing much. Granted the Redskins won't do much on offense either, but they will do enough to win the game.

Campbell isn't the QB they thought he would be and he doesn't have the O-line he needs to be very successful. So if he doesn't have time to throw downfield we have to watch short throws to RBs out of the backfield, maybe the TEs or WRs in little curls and slants. Randell El has pretty good at that sort of play over the years and we can't let him run free across the middle. Santana Moss is always a threat but if Cambell doesn't have the time it can negate Moss as a threat.

With a porous O-line they will have to run some different plays to try and make our D respect them; screens, delays, draws and such. Also maybe just throwing some deep balls trying to stretch the field.

I think we can handle their offense, but controlling the line of scrimmage with our O-line is where we will win or lose the game as I see it.

I think you are both right. It would be nice to see Cassel be able to sit in a pocket and survey the field. Washington's o-line has been decimated, so our D guys need to get in there and cause some havok.

I think our offense needs to figure some way of keeping their defense from eating our lunch. That's what I think.
