Chiefs Are Losing The Draw

Ok, it is time for me to be critical. Of the many things, that occurred this weekend, nothing got me more upset than seeing the Chiefs run the draw play with Larry Johnson. It did not work against the Eagles and it did not work against the Giants. If we do run the shotgun draw, it has to be with someone quicker like Charles or Savage, and most importantly, we have to block. Larry might have the power, but he doesn’t get going quick enough to get up field.

The shotgun draw ran by the Chiefs with Larry near the goal-line against the Giants was pathetic. Two Giants linebackers were waiting for him completely unblocked. Was that a poorly designed play or poorly executed? They called that play at least three times with Larry, and each time the Chiefs lost five to six yards.

Are there any other plays we should get rid of, keep, do? I for one say we need to throw the ball deeper, and run quick slants to Bowe.

Sound Off Addicts?

He just did it again! Todd Haley is a ****ing idiot!

I agree about the shotgun draw. I am so tired of seeing them run that play. The game against the Giants, the announcer even said Haley needed to "shelf that play".
He runs it at least 4 times every game. I counted a game early in the season that he called it 6 times.

Cassel does need to throw it downfeild, problem is, he won't. He doesn't attempt to throw the ball over 15 yards. And I agree he doesn't have protection, but even when the line blocks for him, he holds on to the ball.
Why did Croyle have such a good game? He took shots downfeild.

If you pass short, or simply don't pass, the linebackers can get into the box because the safeties are up. You can't run in that situation.

With our offensive line problems I think charles should be out starting running back if he can hold onto the ball. If our line actually opens up a hole, that hole will close quickly. Why not put in a quicker and faster back to get through that hole before it closes.

I would say run any play that doesn't require blocking, because KC can't. Throw downfield? Cassel gets sacked on a 5 step drop. When the line is this bad THERE ARE NO PLAYS that can be run successfully on a consistent basis. None. No runs, no passes, no options, no draws...nothing.

I think this is why we see more screens being attempted. At least on a screen the linemen are SUPPOSED to let defenders leak past them.
