I have to be honest. It is getting quite difficult to look at the bright side of things with all the losses piling up. I am not quite sure why, but it seems the losses this year hurt more, (way more), than last year. The losses are hampering my personal life. My fiancé does not like who I become at the end of the day on Sunday, nor do I. A great depression has taken over, but its time to buck up. Why, because I and you, as true fans, have no choice.
Despite my anger and depression, I refuse to buy into this talk of Haley and Pioli not making the right moves, not doing the right things. It is B.S. We are three games into the season and already everyone is losing all hope and blaming a new regime for not quickly turning the franchise around. They had too many holes to fix prior to this season and Rome wasn’t built in a day. Fans need some perspective. Everyone expected to win five to six games this year so why are we losing our heads by calling for theirs when we are 0-3?
Winning cures everything. We could have won the Baltimore game, and we should have won the Oakland game. If we had, then no one would be calling for Haley and Pioli’s head. Please be patient, and know that Pioli and Haley are not freaking boneheads. They have a plan, and they are sticking to it. We will work our way out of this mess and we will be competitive again. Things can only get better.

I’m trying to keep myself in this mindset too. Things do seem horrible right now, but like it or not we are going to be tearing down ONCE AGAIN and rebuilding. Things have to get better………..please……..I hope.
You have to be fair and give Haley some control and time to turn it around here. Firing Gailey to this point was a bad move, maybe it will pay off and if not it will cost him his job. I have a hard time anticipating our offense being too pass heavy with this o-line but you have to give it time. As long as he is showing progress give him at least a year and let him do his job. The defense is just as frustrating and I am pretty concerned about any of our draft picks becoming dominant on the defensive side of the ball.
atleast gaileys arrowspread scored points with thigpen at the healm whos numbers were just the same as cassels surrounded by star at NE last season… I think things will turn around… I miss the spread it out and gunsling it offense we once had… Piolis only mistake was taking a defensive end this year… CAN YOU SAY OFFENSIVE LINE DUMBASS
You lost me here Jeremy. Perhaps I haven’t been paying close enough attention to what people are saying? I haven’t seen much of that – at least not yet. Can you cite some examples where people (that matter) are calling for the heads of Pioli and/or Haley?
This is pretty much how I expected this season to go so it doesn’t shock or upset me. In fact, right from the beginning I have been advocating patience and what I found when I did that was that a lot of people interpreted that as negativity to the point of challenging my fanhood.
If anyone is complaining about how things are going right now, my guess is that it would be those frustrated souls whose unrealistic expectations are not being met!
You think the hate is bad now? Just wait.
If Pioli and Co had tried (and I only say that because of the draft) to fix the o-line instead of the defense on draft day, folks would be on here whining about the defense, or the Line backers, or or or or. Our beloved Chiefs are not a talented team. You can patch a leak only to find the extra pressure pops 4 more. This will take time, and more drafts, and more FA acquisitions and more time. Oh yeah and our opening schedule hasn’t helped either. You hold your opponent to 166 Yds total offense, and you go over 400 and lose the game, that’s uncommon.
I really think the team comes on stronger as the year progresses and we put up 6 + wins before the end. Probably starting with the Redskins.
DD:
I promise that I was not speaking of you. I hate to mention names but since you asked, over at AP they have what I consider to be “bash the new regime” posts and comments (more comments than posts).
I feel the bashing is unwarranted, at this point, and is counter productive. I am all for criticism, but the losing, ver and over again, coupled with the criticism from our own Chiefs fans is bringing me down. We have to buck up and root for that elusive win
You are right about the losses stinging even more this year ,That Raider loss was especially painfull . Push those bums all over the field for 58 minutes only to lose to the worst QB in the league. Im not over it yet I hate the Raiders, And that loss to me was as bad as all the Vermeil playoff flops…
Jeremy,
Just as the players must be held accountable by the Chiefs organization, so too must the organization be held accountable. We have as much right to boo the organization as we do the players. Everybody associated with this organization, from Clark Hunt right down to the Water Boy, needs to feel our pain. If empty seats and blackouts are what it takes to bring about meaningful improvement, then I’m all for it.
This is a good post J-Dogg.
Coming from a 2-14 season, several poor drafts, and the mistreatment of veteran contracts over the years, the loses right now are not surprising to me. The drastic changes made can pay off, eventually.
What was surprising for me was that we were actually in the Baltimore game and even had a lead at one point. Yes, the Oakland loss hurts, I was counting on that one. Winning can cure many woes.
But taking on the enitre NFC East in 4 weeks at the start of our season is a brutal pain we must bear. But, after having watched the Cowboys play these last 2 weeks and seeing their anemic offense, I think we can give them a game in KC. And Washington isn’t even that good.
I didn’t count on beating the Ravens, Eagles, Cowboys, Redskins, Jaguars, Steelers or the Broncos and Chargers in away games. Our guys need to keep chopping wood.
John Czarnecki said in an article on foxsports.com on monday, “I could be gone before the fruits of my rebuilding are done, ‘the GM said, ‘that’s how far behind we are in personnel and how bad the drafts were before I took over.’ Now John didn’t say who he was quoting, but it was meant to sound like a GM of KC, Tampa Bay, St. Louis, or Cleveland.
I would be inclined to say Tampa or Cleveland, but could it be us?
Hey Chiefs fans. Allow me to give you some perspective, some hope here. I, being from the Philly area have been quite used to the Eagles being putrid for a very long time. Fortunately for this area, the last 10 years have been fun – however – no Super Bowl victory to speak of. Heck, no NFL Championships since 1960 when they played at the fabled Franklin Field outside the University of Pennsylvania. Now granted, I am a fan of the Eagles, however, not like I have been for the Chiefs all these years. Yes. I had my Chiefs jacket when THEY won the Supe, and remember those players and the destruction they used to cause. I also took alot of heat in College too. Sure was fun.
Now I want to rewind abit, and let me give you some history. Back in the 70’s the Eagles were really BAD. So much so that it was a joke to even talk about them in school, much less wear an Eagles shirt, hat, or a jacket with their logo’s on them. Then, ownership decided to head west and pick up a coach out of UCLA. Yep. It was that guy, Dick Vermeil. And guess who was his GM, that other guy, Carl Peterson. What those 2,along with ownership, did was build a team, get the followers to come back, and get to (and almost win) their first Supe (against the Raiders). Then burnout set in, Vermeil went on sabatical and Peterson went to the USFL, where he was also a GM, a very successful GM. From there he wound up going to the Chiefs, which, for the most part, worked. After those 2 were gone from Philly, the Eagles then went in the toilet (with head Coaches like Ray Rhodes and Rich Kotite). Enter Andy Reid, Joe Banner and Jeffrrey Lurie and ever since, things have been rosey for the most part around here. The key to these moves back in the 70’s and 10 years ago involved a committment from the top, and sound, dedicated football men running and coaching the team. With the Hunt family, the Pioli’s and the Haley’s, I saw that this past weekend during the game. Now granted, this weekend’s game was against an outright better team, but I saw Haley on the sidelines Coaching and screaming all the way ’till the final gun. I saw that same fire in Vermeil too – way back then.
So to summarize fellow Chiefs fans. There is hope. There is something there. There is a passion, that, for the most part will take a long time to fix. The key is keeping the faith and supporting the guys the Hunt family trusts in righting this ship. It’ll be slow, and probably painful for awhile that’s for sure. So hang in there. I sure am. I’m in the Philly area and I get to see the Chiefs once a year, if I’m lucky. Unless I head to “Arrowhead West” – Big Charlies Saloon down in South Philly then I can watch every Chiefs game.
GREAT POSTS DUCTAPE AND CHIEFKEG RIGHT ON RIGHT ON
As soon as Bowe gets healthy we move him and our 4th round pick in 2010 to Dallas for RB Tashard Choice and Dallas’ 1st and 2nd in 2010. We would have 5 total picks in the first 64. I know it is early but, this is more logical than talking about our current team…..
R1 # 2 SS Eric Berry- Tennessee
R1 # 22 WR Damien Williams-USC
R2 # 34 C Kris O’Dowd-USC
R2 # 54 OT Kyle Calloway-Iowa
R2 # 58 TE Rob Gronkowski-Arizona
R3 # 66 FS Nate Allen-USF
We sign a WR,LT and two LB’s

Thank you for your woonderful post. I appreciate the perspective. keep’em coming
Jeremy,
After rereading your post, I can’t help but note that you express the following feelings:
1. Denial (“I refuse to buy into” “It is BS”)
2. Anger
3. Bargaining (“We can work our way out of this mess.” “Things can only get better”)
4. Depression
Whether you realize it or not, these represent 4 of the 5 stages of grief aka “The Kubler-Ross Model.”
What’s missing?
5. Acceptance
Jeremy:
Your wrote “I refuse to buy into this talk of Haley and Pioli not making the right moves, not doing the right things.”
What right moves did they make with the offensive line? I liked Goff, but he hasn’t worked out. There was money and players available (Brown and Birk to name two) and we didn’t do anything with them. Bringing in the two Fin’s castoffs was a desperation move. Anyway you read it, the o-line plan has been an epic fail to date.
