While I agree that it's frustrating to watch,I do appreciate that they are not just sitting back and saying we will try to make it better next year.Draft picks is what we are going to rebuild this team with.If Thigpen was that good he would have been somewhwere else probably as A backup and not A third or fourth stringer here.

While Merlin and DD are patting themselves on the back for discovering the O-Line was bad last year, I'd like to know who in the hell thought otherwise?

Did Pioli screw up by not bringing in others? Well Duh! Sheesh my mother-in-law could see that. That is no longer the question. The question is, AT THIS POINT is bringing in another veteran for a shot at improving the line a better idea than not bringing one in?

I just don't see how anyone could not want to see Runyan and Tauscher here. How can you blast them for not improving the line, then blast them again when they try to fix--albeit little and late--the glaring mistake we all see they made?

(Besides, I know Runyan has a contract issue where if he were signed too early the team had to pick up his old contract, which nobody was going to do. He'll have a job this year and I'd just as soon it be here.)

I've wanted to trade Thigpen more than anyone. But for value. If this is a simple swap between family members and we gave up Thiggy for Aleman and Udukwe, I'm going to be pissed.

"They only mistake Pioli made with the O-line was beleiving that Goff had something left, and that Herb Taylor would step up and MacIntosh could suffice. He was wrong. He will make mistakes. Hindsight is 20/20."

Um, no, that's three mistakes. Basically, the o-line plan has been an epic fail to date.

When do undisclosed draft picks become disclosed?

DD and Merlin

At the end of last year, our Offense appeared better than our Defense. Pioli and Haley wanted to implement a 3-4 without the necessary talent. They spent our first and third picks doing so. Nothing wrong with that. It sounds like a smart thing to do then and now.

I beleive they (Pioli and Haley) were disillusioned that Herb Taylor and MacIntosh played decent enough last year, so much so they stuck with them, and when we went to a traditional pro style offense they were exposed, long after Pioli went through the draft.

Pioli did address the O-line prior to the draft with Goff, unfortunately, Goff is not getting it done. Is that completely Pioli's or Haley's fault? (By the way, I thought for sure Herb Taylor was our Right tackle of the future, he played well at left tackle last year).

Instead of accepting it, Pioli and Haley cut Herb Taylor and MacIntosh, brought in a couple of guys in Ndukwe, and Callahan. That is doing something, a little too late, yes, but it is doing something nonetheless.

Trading for Matt Cassel was the right thing to do. I think Matt Cassel looks like a real GAMER, and if he had more time, he would be lighting it up. Remember TrINT Green played horribly his first year with the Chiefs too. I see the Potential in Cassel. Trading for Cassel and Vrabel for a 2nd round pick was the absolutely the right call.

They only mistake Pioli made with the O-line was beleiving that Goff had something left, and that Herb Taylor would step up and MacIntosh could suffice. He was wrong. He will make mistakes. Hindsight is 20/20.

By the way it is not Pioli and Haley's fault that Branden Albert is all of the sudden a penalty inducing left takle, or that Brain Waters is struggling too. Those two appear to be regressing too.

Despite our O-line I see improvements with the rest of the team. The win column does not show it, but I see it, and we will win soon.

GO Chiefs!!!!!! (We)I need a freaking win!!!

Double probably good with Parcells but I trust Bill B about as far as I can throw Brian Waters.

DD:

You and I have been in the minority from the beginning of the Kremlin Scott Era in talking about the lack of attention to the offensive line. Sorry to say, but the chickens are coming home to roost right now and it doesn't look pretty.

Randy,

It suggests to me that perhaps Pioli is only comfortable with guys he knows. In other words, not willing to look outside of his circle; take risks. Not sure if that is good or bad either. Too early to tell.

Not sure if that is good or bad

Jeremy,

Indeed, what is the problem?

The problem is we are now on our 4th or 5th RT since the start of training camp.

Why are we still looking for a RT when anybody who knew anything about the Chiefs after watching them last season could tell you immediately that the #1 need for this team during the offseason was a RT?

Maybe, ..., instead of spending 63 million dollars and trading away our 2nd round pick for a QB that can't be protected or productive, (while, at the same time, completely gutting our young defense so that a patchwork 3-4 defense could be installed, which apparently also necessitated that we reach with our #3 overall pick for a 3-4 DT), we could perhaps have instead used that 2nd round pick to acquire a decent RT thus allowing us to hold off for a year to draft a QB (perish the thought!) from what (then and now) appears to be a far better choice of candidates in the 2010 draft???

Look at this team and tell me, would holding off for a year to draft a QB while reinforcing our trenches have been such a bad idea?

I'm talking accountability here.

Boy I tell you what Pioli sure uses his family connections and old boy network with the Patriots. Every thing we do is either with Bill B or Bill P. his father in law.

DD:

Runyan and Tauscher are two former quality tackles with injury questions.

If you can sign them for cheap and give them a go, what is the problem? In any event, O'Callahan gets his shot this weekend. I hope he does well.

Use that undisclosed draft pick to get a young lineman in the draft next year. It looks like to me that Pioli is stock piling drafts for next year. Could be a very exciting 2010 draft for the Chiefs. I think that I would rather see them bring in a decent pass rusher than spend money on a lineman that nobody else wants. The offensive line needs to be fixed through the draft.

If Jon Runyan is the answer, then what's the question?

Oh,I know!

Q: There are 2 veteran free agent RTs that even in late September no NFL team has shown the least bit of interest in. One is Mark Tauscher. Who is the other?

Here's a follow up question - could there be a real good reason why both are still unemployed?

John Runyan? No, that would be good news. I don't think we're in for any good news any time soon.

well ill have to say atleast the pistol, arrowspead whatever you want to call it scored points last year... his numbers were just as good as cassel last season but tyler was surrounded by bums and not stars.. I will miss you tyler "thiggy smalls" thigpen... you always made the game interesting and kept us in games last season with your HUSTLE
