Texans Sign Pollard

Posted by: Double D

That’s right. The guy that so many Chiefs’ fans were convinced was not good enough for the NFL after Todd Haley cut him has found a new home with the Houston Texans.

Good luck to you in your new home, Mr. Bonecrusher!

Fortunately for Tom Brady, he will not have to worry about Bernard Pollard until the final game of the regular season. Of course, that could work out badly too!

  2. 2. toma Says:

If he got picked up by another team then Haley made a mistake? A lot of players get cut and are picked up.

  3. 3. Double D Says:

I didn’t say Haley made a mistake. I just said that Haley cut him and as a result, a lot of people seemed to be of the opinion that Pollard must not have been a good player.

Pioli and Haley have made it clear that they are not necessarily interested in having the best most talented 53 players on the roster. So I guess my point is that some people seem to have lost sight of that distinction.

Your missing the point here completely. I’ll lay it out in bullet points so you can tape them next to your computer.

    1. Anything Pioli/Haley does or doesn’t do is good.

    2. Anything Carl/Herm did was bad.

    3. When the Chiefs do anything good, credit goes to Pioli/Haley.

    4. When the Chiefs do something bad, blame goes to Carl/Herm.

    5. When Pioli/Haley does something bad, think of a way to blame Carl/Herm. Watching Fixed News might help get you in the proper mindset.

Now, if you absorb these lessons, give me a call. I’ll visit you and slap you around. DD, keep calling it fair and keep it real. Along with Boone signing, I think this makes 4 players Pioli got rid of that are in the NFL now. At least one team has been kicking D-Mac’s tires too. He might be back in the NFL soon.

  5. 5. Double D Says:

Let’s see, by my count that makes Boone, Pollard, Gonzalez, McBride, Babin, anybody else?

  6. 6. Merlin Says:

Yes, that would be five then, my bad. D-Mac would be six. We all knew the talent level was down, so 20% would seem high to me. You were right in a previous post though. They are going off of ‘the right 53′ concept. How much more talent from a talent poor team will we jetison? Are Pioli/Haley narrowcasting too much? How many steps backwards are we taking to build a team their way? This really looks like 2008 all over again. Hopefully, we will be competitive in 2010.

  7. 7. Slack JAW Says:

Macintosh is so damn slow he`s just about wortless against the 260-280 speedy d-ends in the NFL…

  8. 8. Merlin Says:

    Slack Jaw:

True, he can’t pass protect well. He still is a decent run blocker and can help a run-oriented, smash-mouth team.

  9. 9. Slack JAW Says:

Merlin, he`s definitely a road grader if he could get his hands on the defender .But he just moved so slow at the snap he was always playing catch-up….

  10. 10. Double D Says:

I will never miss “Sackintosh” regardless of where he ends up. If anywhere. Brings back too many bad memories.

  11. 11. Double D Says:

    Merlin,

Weren’t we supposed to be a “run-oriented” team last year? I’m thinking that got us nowhere on the bullet train.

  12. 12. Merlin Says:

    DD:

Yes, then again, that goes back to the o-line. Many of us were screaming about last year… year before that… and before that……oh…… and now too. You could dig Stram up, we will not be a playoff team without a better o-line.

  13. 13. tim Says:

they are building one mean defense….

Mario, Okoby, Ryans, Robinson, Pollard :P

going to be a force in the future.

    good for him.

  14. 14. Double D Says:

    Merlin,

Spot on about the OL. It was the most glaring deficiency yet for some unexplicable reason was for all intents and purposes ignored by the new administration. The honeymoon is over and somebody needs to come up with an explanation.
