Questioning Cassel’s Questionable Status

AUTHOR: jeremyhanson | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

Matt Cassel, our starting QB, is listed as questionable once again with a knee injury. Is this a charade or the truth? If it is not a charade, Brodie Croyle played decently against the Ravens last week. So that begs the question: do you sit Cassel one more week, knowing that Brodie played much better than expected?

Also, is the Raiders defensive line, now with Richard Seymour, better than the Ravens?

Should Cassel play, do you treat him like Brodie Croyle was treated the week before? Or, do you open up the passing game a bit more?

Any other questions?  Sound Off Addicts.

Opening day at the new Arrowhead against the Raiders, Matt Cassel will start. To me there is no question.

I hope he starts, as I am curious to how well he is even going to play. We need to find our identity in this game for sure whether it be a primarily running, passing team, or maybe a little of both(Preferable plan). Either way we will see come Sunday where I PRAY we dominate the FAG boys out of Oakland! GO CHIEFS!!!!

  3. Double D says:

Suppose we do start Croyle and he performs well against the Raiders. In other words, he would have 2 consecutive strong performances under his belt.

Next, suppose that Cassel starts in week 3 and then struggles big time in weeks 3 – 7 (certainly a possiblity given the competition he’ll be facing over that stretch).

In starting Croyle this Sunday, might we unintentionally be inviting a quarterback controversy? Kind of seems like one more factor to consider in this decision.

DD Good point and i can hear it now, All the Croyle fans would be saying “see told you so” in spending that much on a QB when we had one already.

On the other hand What happens when we start Croyle he has a bad game and then start Cassel the next week he has a bad game, Then where are we but placing blame on Pioli and Haley saying they can’t spot a good QB and we should have traded Croyle and never signed Cassel .

I hope we start Cassel and he is the franchise QB that I believe he is!

  5. Double D says:

I hope Cassel starts too. The image of Brodie Croyle in the clutches of Richard Seymour is a little too much to contemplate at this point.

You’re borrowing trouble on the QB controversy front. Chiefs have enough real questions to answer without raising this one at this point.
