Per Peter King MMQB:
“Factoid of the Week That May Interest Only Me
This is what you call an evisceration of a football team:
Since Week 17 of the 2008 season, 30 Kansas City Chiefs have departed — 20 active players, five on injured-reserve, five on the practice squad. Only two have found jobs on active rosters in the NFL: tight end Tony Gonzalez (Atlanta) and defensive end Jason Babin (Philadelphia).
Come to think of it, that’s also a reflection on a new broom (Scott Pioli/Todd Haley) sweeping clean, and the philosophical difference about players between the Carl Peterson and Pioli regimes. What a huge number of wasted Chief draft picks.”
Only two! Bernard Pollard is still out there too. Guess that’s why we have won only 6 games in two years. Sound Off…

I heard Pioli quote this stat on the radio last week. This tells me two things:
1. The Chiefs obviously have had a serious lack of talent over the last few years.
2. Mr. Pioli seems to be doing his job correctly. I am not saying that we have a bunch of world beaters on the roster right now but at least he knows who to get rid of.
It’s true for now. The stat is a bit misleading however. Teams were waiting till after week one to sign some vets. That way, the whole year’s salary would not be guaranteed. I suspect you will see Pollard, D-Mac and Boone on other teams this year.
