Chiefs Checking Out OT Runyan

Looks like Jon Runyun is in for a workout today. This according to The National Football Post.

Addicts, does he have anything left?

Will it matter who they bring in when the season is already here? Our OL has sucked more dirt than Lou Diamond Phillips acting career. Pioli has steadfastly focused on special teams and a defenseless D that chokes on 3rd and 25. In an effort to save some dough he's neg'd on the OL and shied away from potential veteran talents like Jason Brown.

Is he kicking himself for that? Probably. Same with the draft. Will it happen again? I doubt it. Pioli's a smart guy and although the funds were available, he answers to the man who has control OVER those funds. They may have decided to go with what they've got, addressing the offense next year. With the 2010 season possibly being uncapped (and Clark's pockets only going so deep), it might just be a "good thing."

Hey Tim, only if they sign him, then yeah - point Tim!

Help us OBI-WAN-KAN-ROAFIE Your our only hope!

Any body get Big Willies number before he left ?

Good Point kuhawk23

Maybe I'm the confused one out of all Chiefs fans... Haley was an Offensive Coordinator.. Piloi had his hands on a team in New England that prided themselves on offensive production (along w/a pretty stout defense as well)... Wouldn't it be intelligent to make sure a priority was the offensive line?

For the love of god, even though Baltimore won a championship on defense alone... what are we, the Ravens? Even a great defense can score a defensive TD what... once every 3-5 quarters sound good?

We all know that you cannot run an effective offense without an excellent offensive line. With bringing someone in like Cassel, and paying him the salary he is receiving... is he 6'6", 320 and can protect himself?

They better at least call Langston Walker.

Hey Paul,

Can i call Runyan an old crap veteran? Point Tim

Boo-yah

I agree with Crane. To me, this offensive line has been Pioli's biggest mistake so far.

I second that DD, anyone with a pulse and a pair of eyes could see our line was in trouble. It must have been something we aren't addressing on purpose is all I can think.

YEAH JON RUNYAN! THE LAST NFL PLAYER TO PLAY FOR THE OILERS! BRING HIM ON BABY!

HERE HERE JH! Plenty to bitch about DD I agree. This season is being sacrificed though. Management and ownership hopes that the fans see enough positive change to keep warm bodies in the seats until hopefully some of their changes start to produce positive results. You never know whats going on behind the scenes, Pioli has shown us that. I was angry because it still appeared we were doing nothing about the qb situation and boom out of the fog comes Cassel. This season and the next one are going to be exactly what you make out of them. Those who want post season are going to be miserable. Those patient fans who are willing to wait, I honestly feel are going to be seeing postseason success within the next five years. Maybe wishful thinking on my part but thats what being a Chiefs fan is all about in my opinion. Everyone else, well thats what teams like Detroit are for.

You're absolutely right. Going into Baltimore with such a weakness on the right side is awfully scary, and could be foreseen many weeks, if not months, ago. I don't know what happened there. They put too much faith in Richardson and McIntosh.

BUT, they are doing something about it now, rather than keeping those two on board, that makes me feel better.

When Haley and Pioli got here they knew the Defense was our weakest link. They appear to have helped that unit significantly, right?

As for our first game, I would rather Brodie Croyle play in Baltimore, with Thigpen coming in and doing some reverses, wildcat crap. We cannot risk our 60 million dollar man in Baltimore on a line that has not played a full game together.

Jeremy,

I have no problem with bringing anybody in that might be an improvement, band aid or otherwise. My gripe is that our first game of the season comes in just 5 days and not only do we not have an OL that has "gelled," we don't even have a starting RT! I mean come on!! We're just now looking at guys that should have been taking reps with the rest of the team from the get go!?
There is absolutely no excuse for this kind of situation to exist. It represents nothing short of a catastrophic screw up on the part of Scott Pioli along with whoever he had advising him about the offensive line talent. I was hoping Goff might give us a little something be happy about but even that assessment like looks a major miscalculation. Yes, I am pissed!

Why not RT Mark Tauscher?

Levi Jones?

Langston Walker?

Runyun (36) if he passes his physical would still be a welcomed addition, but he is only a band aid for this year.

Didn't we already debate this idea? Like 6 months ago or something? Any takers on whether we see Mark Tauscher coming in and givin' it the ol' college try too?
