From the National Post:
The Chiefs are reportedly shopping SS Bernard Pollard.
The Chiefs want to get 31-year-old Mike Brown into the starting lineup because he’s outplayed Pollard in camp. Pollard has been one of the team’s best defenders the past two seasons, which is damning with faint praise. Still, it’s fair to question the direction of this team, which is lacking nucleus talent on both sides of the ball.
What!!! Isn’t he one of our best defensive players? Has Mike Brown really been that great, or even that consistent? This has to be wrong.

So who do you think we’ll take with the 1st overall pick?
I hope this is not true. I think trading Pollard would be a mistake.
hehehe. so it begins….
hes been a joke thus far. he misses tons of tackles. winds up on the ground more often than the guy he is tryin to tackle. hes subpar in coverage. Hes still young, and could get better/be taught. but i’m ok with this.
Either Brandon Flowers or Dwayne Bowe would have to step in as my favorite current player. Ouch. Matt Cassel maybe.
I think shopping him is a BAD idea. Mike Brown is good, but WELL past his prime. He is not the answer and Pollard was one of the VERY few shining spots on the team last year.
so we get rid of him just so he can go play for someone else and hurt matt cassel this time??? irony anyone?
OUCH that would be REAL IRONY
We seemed to be on the right track there for awhile until well we started actually playing.
Still I think this is a legit rebuilding effort this time.
Pollard is always a threat to block punts … I think I love that about him the most.
I like Pollard. Tough, hits like a Mack truck, and is YOUNG. I don’t like this idea but what happens happens. And also as it just so happens, there are 2 standout safeties that will be entering the 2010 draft: Eric Berry and Taylor Mayes. Makes you wonder.
Yes Id hang on to Pollard but you just dont really know whats going on behind the scenes.
Cassel to Start in Baltimore
Pollard Rumor False
Chiefs Sign Leonard Pope
Mcintosh signs with Raiders
remains my storyline list that I hope to see..
I just dont see what value you can get for Pollard that would make sense…Whats the highest pick? a 3? ok is that worth it? I would want a starter….who is under 27….
SDChief:
Not a bad list at all, but I think the chances of Cassel starting in Balt are slim and none. Why risk his health againt that D with the way our offensive line is protecting?
Merlin Im with you as far as the risk to Matt. Id sit him out the first half of the season it aint gonna get any better for him.
SO…who will be the other 45 cut? One hour and fifteen minutes to go!
Cut. Stupid.
Wow. These guys mean business, and I like it. We have to put aside how we feel about the players personally I think. Pollard was an average player on a horrible team last year. I just think it is ironic that we brought in Ahsley, Toomer, and Zach….then cut em all.
Hey addicts I got a serious question to ask. I love my chiefs. Always have….always will. The thing is that I have never been to a pro football game before. This next Sunday I change that by watching my chiefs play in hostile territory. I am from the Baltimore area, and got some pretty decent seats. Question is…..Will I get crippled if I go into the stadium supporting my red in a sea of purple? I love my chiefs to death…just want to make sure death is not involved….I have heard some horror stories. Adam, crew, got any advice?
nope……
im done…..
this is bullshit…..
im done with this new chiefs franchise….
Pioli…. Haley…. Cassel….
Not the chiefs i liked anymore, and from now on never will be….
You will be fine in Baltimore just be nice and dont look for trouble.
tim your a dork
mmoore6241,
Wear your Chiefs colors with pride in Baltimore, but be prepared to take a lot of crap for having that jersey on. Just smile and keep walking. It drives them crazier when you just ignore them. I know. I do that when I have the money to go to a KC and SD game here in SD. Except I know how to rib back and have THE GREATEST time doing it. Have never been threatened or anything else. I think you really only have to worry about that if you go to a Raiders game in Oakland.
Tim,
You have to beleive something went on behind the scenes that caused Pollard to be ousted. I like him too, but are you really going to be against the chiefs if they actually end up in the playoffs with the new regime?
Still cannot beleive they let Pollard go. This is riddiculous.
So does this mean the DaJuan Morgan will begin this year?
i don’t see dropping pollard as that big a deal. he wasn’t that good. the old way wasn’t winning games for us. a tried and true method of winning comes with our new leaders, and they should be givin a fair chance. Herm was givin a fair chance, and everyone knew he sucked. pollard wasn’t that good, and apparently not one of the right 53. i applaud the boldness of the new regime. when your you setting a precedence, you set it early and often.
Vrod
I diffently agree, there must of been some conflict behind the scenes for them to do such a moronic move as releasing Pollard.
And no, they are not making it to the playoffs…. and in the insanely rare case they do, it will have nothing to do with the new regime.
Atleast with Herm Edwards and Co. we would of been reaching the results stage of the rebuilding period. Now we have to wait another 2-3 years before we have any real success because all the new big shots want to change it up.
Qoute me on this. I would take the old chiefs regime, minus gunther (i always wanted a new D-coor thu) over this new one. The Trinity can go “Trinitize themselves”
If your jersey stinks of the last two seasons your a goner!
Finally they got rid of Pollard!! That’s great, If I watched him miss one more open tackle that turned into a 50 yard play I was going to puke. Tim, you poor thing, I’ll get your bottle for you. You obviously didn’t watch any of the games last year. You really liked the old regime? WOW…. Let’s get rid of Lawrence Tynes and spend a 3rd round pick on someone who we cut shortly after the season starts. Lets get rid of Dante, and replace him with a guy whose name I’ve blocked out and ended up ranked 32nd in the league on kickoff returns. Lets run on every 1st down even when the D is stacking 9 in the box every first down. Croyle is our future even though he averaged 0-7 points a game. Lets drop Casey Wiegmann, only for the Broncos to pick him up and then he goes to the Pro-Bowl the next year. Lets give LJ a huge payday since he’s the answer. Lets get rid of Kawika Mitchell, then he goes to the Giants, becomes their best LB and helps them create one of the leagues most dominating defenses and helps them win the SB. Lets not draft more Offensive Lineman because they can hold off for one more season.
I’m not sure about you but I DO remember the old regime, and it sucked, very badly. If anyone is willing to write off the new regime before they even play a game, then I have to question your fanhood. I will always root for the chiefs, as that’s what a true fan does. I’m also willing to give the new regime at least a season or two to get rid of the trash, as we obviously have a lot of it. We were 2-14 last year, for god’s sake, I hope they get rid of most of the team. So many whiners….
Whats up dudes…I will try to post more often, real busy, can’t believe they cut Pollard, guess no one else wante him either.
