Chiefs' Pioli Making Moves, Brings In Alleman And Ndukwe

by Chiefs

How about this:

“Chiefs acquired OGs Ikechuku Ndukwe and Andy Alleman from the Dolphins in exchange for undisclosed compensation.

It must have been an interesting Sunday night dinner for Bill Parcells and his son-in-law, Chiefs GM Scott Pioli. Ndukwe could start at right guard for the Chiefs, and Alleman may be pushed to center where he’d be an upgrade on Rudy Niswanger and Eric Ghiaciuc. The Dolphins are obviously happy with the progress of guards Donald Thomas and Shawn Murphy. “

ESPN’s Bill Williamson Added:

“Ndukwe is expected to push for a starting spot at guard or tackle.

He was a starting guard for the Dolphins last season but was moved to tackle this year.

Alleman is expected to provide interior line depth. Alleman is a third-year player from Akron. He started four games last season for Miami”.

Thank God! This is why Pioli is one of the better personnel men. He sees a problem and addresses it immediately. He does not wait and hope for the best. He doesn’t sit around and hope the team gels or comes together. He has to protect Matt Cassel and he makes the right move here.  Would Carl Petersen made such a move, so quickly?  No!   Any thoughts?

Hi all! Hope everyone has been good. My Login was jacked...I am excited at the attempts to upgrade the team. I haven't heard great things about either one, but I haven't heard bad things necessarily either...it just depends on how their coached and then we'll know

We wish you luck with these 2 guys. I'm no expert but I think you have a solid backup in Ike. Alleman did a really good job last year filling in for Smiley, and before that he played all over the O-Line. We will miss him the most.

Miami had a tough time running inside between the tackles last year, and I would say that is why the 2 have been traded to KC. Plus the fact they are not Parcells guys " that are players BP and company selected " the trifecta of Parcells, Ireland, and Sparano want their guys, not the picks from our past Moronic Management.

As of the time of this writing I have not heard any details of the compensation given. Is LJ still the man out there or are they going to a 2 back system as the Dolphin have ? Need to know FF draft is coming up.

Randy,

I won't get excited about the acquisitions until I see them on the field. I cannot see Bill Parcells giving anyone anything that would help them without some good compensation. I would not be surprised if we gave up a 3rd or 4th. We might have even given up a couple of picks, 5th and 7th. Parcells doesn't really do anything to help someone from another organization. I do hope they improve our line play, but that won't make a bit of difference if Cassel doesn't learn to get rid of the ball. Here is a hint, look at Favre footage and see how quick that ball comes out.

I agree Pioli see's a problem and try's to fix it immediatly. Doesnt hurt that he is Bill P's son in law and besties with Bill B.

Quazz, I don't know...I really think we need to devote some high picks to the D line ;).

Really anyone we brought in to work right of Waters would be an upgrade.

I know Brodie may be the most fragile QB in NFL history, but with that line protecting him the last few years...

Awesome move on Pioli's part. If only he'd picked up C Jason Brown... I'm curious what kind of compensation too. With any luck it wasn't much. Son-in-law or not though, Parcells is shrewd and I just don't see him handing over players for next to nothing, but who knows? Stranger things have happened. Say for instance a starting QB and excellent veteran LB for a 2nd rounder? Hope those guys work out well, we need some serious help on the line. How important do you think OL will be in the next draft for us?

Some Ndukwe stats:

In 2008 - He started 15 games at right guard following injury to Donald Thomas ... Made the first start of his NFL career at Arizona (9/14) at right guard ... Was a member of offensive line that provided lanes for three 100 plus yard rushing performances for Ronnie Brown; 113 yards at New England (9/21), 125 yards vs. San Diego (10/5), 101 yards vs. Oakland (11/16) and one for Ricky Williams; 105 yards vs. Seattle (11/9) ... Part of offensive line that provided pass protection which allowed for Chad Pennington to throw for a season high 341 yards vs. New England (11/23).

Definitely glad to see moves happening already. Especially with two weeks still remaining before the season officially gets kicked off.

It'll be interesting to see what we gave up for the two of them. My guess is a 5th round for the two of them? Might be wishful thinking on my part.

Thoughts?
