Fantasy Footballers, Will You Draft A Chief?

by Chiefs

Well, in two hours from the time I type these words, I will be off to Las Vegas for my15th annual fantasy football draft. I am in a 10 team auction style league with my fraternity brothers of yesteryear. For any of you who have not had the privilege of participating in an auction style draft, let me be brief….. you are missing out, big time. We switched to the auction style draft about 4 years ago, and it is by far the best, and most fun way to conduct your league.

The purpose of this post is to ask you Chiefs fans who are in fantasy football leagues the following: Will you draft a Chiefs player, and if so when, or for how much?

Personally, I will take Mr. Matt Cassel, Mr. Larry Johnson, and Mr. Dwayne Bowe if the price is right. I suspect that Dwayne Bowe will be going for more than I want to pay, since there is a lot of buzz surrounding him. I have a feeling that the Chiefs will be behind in most games this year, so the passing game will be our primary way of moving the ball. As such, Matt Cassel and Dwayne Bowe should prosper very well. Mr. Johnson is another story. I have a feeling he is going to have a good year, however, if we are behind most of the time, he won’t be utilized. Should his price be low, as I suspect, I will take him as my fourth RB or fifth RB.

Any thoughts?

My take:
3 Players, Bowe/Cassel/LJ worth taking now, with charles worth watching, in a 14 team league would be worth drafting, but not in a 10. IMO

Bowe: big year, I dont see how hes not a top...10 fantasy WR, that said, I wouldnt take him before an Andre Johnson or such, but I would in the end of round 3, to the beginning of round 5.

Cassel: I'd take him, and put him on the bench for a few weeks behind a guy like Palmer(same bye week however) who can come in a put up stats right away guarenteed(Baltimore opening week doesnt help) I would say 6th-8th round

LJ: I took him, I like him as a bench 4 or 5 back, I took him in round 5 and think he can have a big year, and if he doesnt, then LJ is roster space for charles.

Thats my opinion, in my first league thus far, I grabbed all 3, but only Bowe starts at the moment.

Those are probably my three as well.

I might also be convinced to take a Mark Bradley or a Jamaal Charles as a late-round, "These guys are just filling up my roster" type of pick when everyone in the league is down to drafting guys like that. However, it would take a LOT of convincing.

I'll take Dwayne Bowe at the right point. Around 40. Gonna have pretty big numbers. Matt Cassel as a back-up late. If L.J. falls way late, him as well. That's it.
