As you know, I, (like all of you), love the Kansas City Chiefs! I am completely obsessed with the team; always have been and always will be. Living in Southern California can be tough for a Chiefs fan, but luckily I have my fix with Direct TV’s Sunday Ticket. However, just like an addict, my drug is getting really expensive.
Now, I don’t want to sound cheap but, the “Early Bird Special” for the NFL Sunday Ticket package is $279.00!!! Additionally, if you want to see the Chiefs this year in HD (High Definition) it will cost an additional $100.00!!! It is going to cost me $379.00 this year to watch my beloved Chiefs from the comforts of my own living room. I am lucky enough that I can afford to pay it, especially in these rough financial times, but when is enough, enough? You can be certain that the price will be even higher next year.
How many of you “out of market” Chief fans are going to pay that price? How many can’t afford it? How much is too much?

i usually watch all the games at the bar or on the internet..Its quite rare to get a chiefs game here in the great state of Delaware
My dad was in the military and we were stationed in Germany for 4 years, and for 4 years I would stay up late to watch games live (when they were on). We had one sports channel and if the game was not on (most of the time it wasnt) i would just watch the score ticker.
That sounds like an extremely high price. But you do have to figure the recession into most prices these days too. It’s not like Direct TV isn’t suffering too.
Side note : If you look online I know most cities have team specific bars for out-of-state NFL teams. I know for a fact there’s a Chiefs bar in Philly and in Dallas. Maybe some research will uncover one in Southern Cal?
Living in Central Texas I know I will get to see at least one Chiefs game this year. Down here they think it’s a Cowboys game, but they’re wrong!
GO CHIEFS!
“Early Bird” is $130 in Canada, including HD.
NFL.com’s Game Pass is usually around $200. This includes access to all of the games archives for 48 hrs after airing.
Its the safest bet for me since am all the way in kuwait.
I’ve been threatening to get SUNDAY TICKET for 4 years now. I just can’t seem to justify it. I usually miss alot of games, but if there’s one I just can’t miss I will go to the bar and watch it. Really hoping the bar down the street gets the ticket this year so I can be dropped off there and stumble back from the games.
Haider: game pass used to only be available overseas is it still that way?
PS HAIDER thanks for serving over there and stay safe.
It’s too expensive and the apt complex won’t allow DirecTV… Alas, to the internet and crappy streaming quality I go.
2383: I am moving to Canada at those prices! lol
David- you said you know of a chiefs themed bar in philly??? Do you know the name of it? I live about 25 minutes from philly and I have never heard of it before…
$379 isn’t much compared to attending ONE game, which will set you back $1,000 easily if you stay in a hotel afterward. I go to one game per year, and watch the rest at home on High Def cable. Of course, I’m not in Cali, but my point is you’re paying less than I do.
buy a slingbox and watch the games in HD for free
I dropped the NFL ticket after I dropped $4k on the HD flat screen, $379 on the HD program, and then found out that not ALL games (see Chiefs) are actually in HD. What a friggin rip.
