I really don't feel like a lot of you are being very fair to Brodie. We didn't see him play much (due to injuries) and when we did see him play he wasn't surrounded by much talent.

What I DID see was that he was 9/10 in the last game he played, before suffering a season-ending inury. I still feel that he has a great deal of potential.. he has all the talent an NFL quarterback needs, as well as the leadership qualities. I don't know whether or not bulking up in the weight room would solve his problems, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him play successfully for another team if he could stay healthy one way or another.

No there is no spot for Brody Croyle
he cannot stay away from the injuries, He cannot read zone coverage, And he cannot stay in the right spot to avoid the sack.
Let's just face it Thigpen is way better than he will ever be, Cassel is better than Thigpen and if Huard was stil on the team HE IS ALSO BETTER THAN CROYLE.. I thought they would trade him away or just release him?? maybe they have something else in mind..? lets wait and see

I think the bottom line is that the team isn't as good as we think. The talent is NOT brought in and coached-up. Blow a bundle on skill players (so-called).

Like Dallas - if they're so good, how come Romo was runnin' for his life most of the time?

Ha no kidding. Garcia's a great pick up. How long do you think it'll take before he gets the nod to start? 2 weeks? 3? Having a load of talent does not mean your team will be great. It should, but it doesn't. Look at Dallas last year, or Washington EVERY year.

Talented players is crucial for any team, but Davis (who has THE SAY on EVERY decision) squanders it. Instead of giving these young guys a chance to really grow and thrive in a system, he dumps it and goes for the next best thing. That whole "I want it NOW!" attitude. Look where that's gotten our economy...no wonder Russell is having problems. With decent coaching, even guys like Huff may have been productive. Who knows?

Firing every coach each year is a sure-fire way of being the BADest in the league. We all know how they like their image. They've done a good job at keeping it up.

redbeard: The NE o-line wasn't very impressive last year. To my eye, it was a big part of why they eventually fizzled at the end of their 16-0 season, and why Brady went down at the beginning of the following season.

They improved slightly over the season, but still had serious issues at RT. Cassel's situation wasn't THAT much different from Thigpen's, except for having more help from the perimeter players.

Quazz: It's ironic that we say on the one hand that Al Davis keeps screwing up on the one hand, and then on the other talk about how "loaded with talent" the Faders are. Garcia will look a lot better making lemonade out of lemons, but he won't have that good of a deep ball. Either way, I expect the Faders to struggle.

I wouldn't be as worried about Russell as I would Jeff Garcia. The Faiders have a better OL, they're D isn't terrible, and their run game is SOLID. They lack a pass game tho, even with Garcia they can dump it to Neil and McFadden only so much. Heyward-Bey was an awful pick, had it been Crabtree or even Maclin I would be a LOT more worried. Bey is a speed freak, that's it. Unless they put crazy glue on his hands we don't have much to be afraid of.

Oakland has talent, and all kinds of potential. And its all wasted by Al Davis. Maybe Tom Cable can do something for them. But Davis won't give him the chance to succeed(or anyone for that matter). As long as he's running the show, I doubt the Raiders will be, or do, much of anything this year or next.

They'll win some games sure. And they've usually been competitive in most of their conference games, all of our conference games usually are, but they can't win or grow as a team with Al coaching. As long as he keeps yanking coaches and pulling his regular stunts, the Raiders ARE the Lions. Their record over the last 6 years speaks for itself.

BBQ, sounds like JaMarcus is playing up to his usual standard, so shouldn't be too hard to play the Raiders like everyone played the Chiefs a couple seasons ago -- load up on the run and dare 'em to throw (Herm never figured this out, and didn't try to throw even in the playoffs).

Since JaMarcus is a 'learn by doing' guy and the only way to get him to work consistently is by scheduling regular season games, this should work until at least week ten.

Well you can mock the idea all you want, but they've had a pretty decent defense for a couple years now and their running game should be straight up scary.

Darren McFadden, Michael Bush, and Justin Fargas running behind Lorenzo Neal. If you're not a little bit concerned you just aren't paying enough attention.
