I think the Chiefs will keep Larry Johnson. I also think he will run for about 1800 yards while Charles dices for about 600. Matt Cassel has three 1200 yard recievers to throw too with Bowe, Engram, if or when Tony decides to stay...Solid secondary, good linebackers and hopefully some blossoming DT draft picks in some recent years in Turk, Tank, and Glen. Don't forget about Edwards either at 6'3" 315 lbs. Our offensive line will jell with Albert, Waters, Rudy, Goff and Sackintosh, Taylor, Pace?, high draftpick? someone may even step up from obscurity,... And to top it off we have the best punter in the league to anchor our ST with Beisel a great ST player, a decent kick return game and good Kicker in Barth. 12-4

i say if we get back into the second round, or we get another 3rd round pick somehow, we draft shonn greene. this kid reminds me of LJ without the attitude, and much bigger.

Honestly, if i were picking late first round and and RB was in the top 5 positions on my draft bored, id take him. thats how high i am on him. i cant believe he's mite te there in the 3rd round

We're so quick to forget it was just two, count em, TWO seasons ago LJ had back to back 1700 yard seasons and 37 TDs. Don't question his talent. Effort, maybe, but not his talent. He averaged 4.5 yards a carry this year, but he only ran it 198 freakin times!! This guy is definitely not done, and when he gets his chance to prove that, watch out.

Larry does not possess the talent to turn a team around, so his behavioral problems aren't worth the associated risks.

LJ isn't one of the best in the league. Off the top of my head I can think of several I'd rather have than him. AP, Chris Johnson, Brandon Jacobs, Westbrook, Derrick Ward, Steve Slaton, MJD, Ronnie Brown, Marshawn Lynch, Matt Forte, Frank Gore, Stephen Jackson, Michael Turner. I think I'd rather even have McFadden. I think the only reason he didn't blow up last year was because of health. I'm sure I'm probably forgetting some guys.

And one more thing, LJ will find a team to run for in '09, and he's going to prove that he's still one of the best in the league. If we we're going to be more of a running team, I'd take him in a heart beat, but in this case, I think he'd be a waste for the Chiefs.

Larry inst reliable, he is old, he doesnt have the right attitude for KC. His presence in 2009 will only breed more problems.

My best guess is LJ will not be here, but when or how he goes is the question. I would hate to just release him because then he could go anywhere and we receive nothing. A 6th round pick is better than nothing.

It's plain and simple: LJ doesn't want to be here, and Pioli/Haley doesn't want players who don't want to be here. I don't think there is any convincing LJ to be happy, because the only way he will be happy is with 20-30 carries a game. Not gonna happen in Todd Haley's offense. Period.

Also, I wouldn't be too worried about picking up a "feature" back. A two back system is the way of the NFL right now. We can find someone good enough to go with Charles.

On a side note, Haley's offense concerns me. I didn't think we ran the ball enough when Thiggy took over last year, causing us to drop a few ball games because we couldn't control the clock.

Jeremy,

Your comment that only recently running backs are succeeding out of that draft as a reason to not get rid of Larry doesn't seem valid to me. Not trying to be a smartasss, but I don't care what was happening in the league 10-15 years ago. In the NFL today you can find a running back without having to give up a top pick for him. The Chiefs should look at the model of today when making their decision on LJ and not worry about the issues Marty had 10-15 years ago.
