AA Reader Mock Draft: Seattle Selects Crabtree, Browns Up

by Chiefs

Draft Results:

1. Detroit Lions – QB Matthew Stafford, Georgia

2. St. Louis Rams – OT Jason Smith, Baylor

3. Kansas City Chiefs – LB Aaron Curry, Wake Forest

4. Seattle Seahawks – WR Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech

Two things:.

1. Yes, we are moving to a new system after testing out a proposed new one last night. We are going with the Mel McShayock system. I’ll look at the mocks of those three and pick out the top 6-8 players that make sense per pick and create a poll, along with an “Other” answer for the write-in candidates.

2. Crabtree to Seattle makes a lot of sense to me. Bobby Engram is gone. Deion Branch and Nate Burleson are unbelievably unreliable. T.J. Houshmandzadeh has never been a No. 1 receiver (not saying that he can’t be, by the way, but he is 31). Most of all, the Seahawks were starting guys like Billy McMullen, Logan Payne and Michael Bumpus last year. They are not going to let that happen again. Additionally, getting possibly the best player in the draft with the fourth pick is never a reach.

Moving on (hopefully more rapidly and with more precison)…

What is your grade for the KC Chiefs eight games into the 2011 season?

pissing... waters.. hah...

Dig the survey format. This draft conjecture is fun and all, but are any of you guys working on an essay along the lines of Wow It's Fun To Watch The Donkeys Imploding And Will Be Even More Fun To Watch Them Slide Into The Cellar This Year?

Orakpo? I guess I don't get it. A yoked up gym rat doesn't always translate into a great football player. Passing on a 10 year starter in Monroe still makes no sense to me.
Looks like NE may be packaging our 2nd round pick with some others they have and bringing in Julius Peppers. Dirty sons of......

Everette Brown, best DE in this draft, more upside than Orakpo. Browns were almost as bad as KC on sacks last year. Need someone to disrupt the backfield.

With Orakpo winning so far it is kind of interesting that Mangini could possibly take a 4-3 DE/Workout warrior and put him at 3-4 OLB two years in a row...

I guess we could see if this one does any better!

Cleveland appears to have addressed, at least in part, their LB needs through FA. Their are no SS or FS here worthy of a top 5 pick. DL, OL, & WR all seem like luxury picks for Cleveland - at least this high in the draft. I think for the Browns, it has to boil down to whether they go RB (Moreno) or CB (Jenkins). Moreno is not on this list, so if I were Cleveland, I'd have to go with the more versatile Malcolm Jenkins who, incidentally, will probably end up alternating between in CB and S. Cleveland could certainly use a guy with the ability to handle both jobs.

Everette Brown has to be the pick here he is a proven consistent player with the skill set mangini will want out of his 3-4...Raji may also be the pick if something happens with rogers over the next month

Extrametal:

Are you spying on my keyboard? Your right, the Denver implosion has been fun to watch. If you look at Mangini's history, McDaniels with Cutler this year and Pioli pissing on Waters it clear, the Patriots don't teach 'how to win friends and influence people'.

Absolutely right Merlin....They teach that the team is bigger than the individual and that you don't win influence with them as you would with other teams...Great point
