AADQ: Reader Mock

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: AADQ | COMMENTS: 23 Comments

I’m pretty sure A.A. invented the reader mock. OK, maybe not, but if we didn’t invent it, then we were one of the first sites to do one. This year, I’m thinking all polls. Something like three polls a day for 10 days. We’ll give the first two picks a day and the Chiefs’ pick a day, too. So, 12 days total. Polls ended up working pretty well for the no-shows last year (and there were quite a few no-shows), and this way we won’t have someone like Martin Rucker picked in the first round. I think now is the perfect time to do one, too. Slow, slow, slow.

Any thoughts? Suggestions?

  4. TexasChief says:

I would like to take part! As I live in Texas I could take one or both of the Texas teams.

  5. CincoOcho says:

    Im in. Sounds like fun.

  6. I would just like to add that I had the Jet’s slot last year and correctly chose Vernon Ghoulston. No I am not a genius, just lucky. Plus everyone else had the “Jest” taking Ghoulston too. Thank god we did not.

Anyway Adam, I like the polling system better.

I am dying for some Chiefs news. Like: Did Page sign his tender? Have we named a DC? Is LJ staying for sure? etc.

  7. KCFan_SanDiego says:

I agree, I am starting to get antsy with the lack of Chiefs news.

  8. Double D says:

So Detroit is on the clock I take it? When will the first poll be published? And how long will the list of choices be for each pick?

  9. Eric Crane says:

I vote for two mocks, one a true mock in which we project how we think the draft will actually go- according to team need etc and one where we choose how we would draft personally.

Wrong thread I know, but i loved reading this and wanted to share in case it had been overlooked…

    KIPER: CASSEL > CUTLER

This was all prompted because the Broncos tried to trade Cutler in a three-team deal that would’ve yielded them Matt Cassel from New England. But when the trade fell through, Cutler started to complain.

Kiper says Cassel would have been an “upgrade” over Cutler and that Cutler, to put it mildly, overrated.

“[Cutler] throws one pass, he’s a Hall of Famer,” Kiper says. “I’ve seen the media put him in the Hall of Fame. I had to run to the bathroom quick. It was making me ill. I’ve been hearing this overhype.

“This guy was overhyped at the combine, he was overhyped at Senior Bowl week, he’s been overhyped before he was drafted. The media, they love Jay Cutler. Jay Cutler can do no wrong I’ve been saying he’s overrated since Day 1. Everyone’s been pounding their chests saying, ‘Oh, I love Jay Cutler, I’m a genius.’ They have egg on their face now.”

Kiper points out that Cutler has yet to lead the Broncos to a winning record or a playoff appearance. Also, Kiper says, “[Cutler] makes throws that leave you scratching you head, which I said on draft day when he was picked. Yeah, he’s got a strong arm, but my daughter knew he had a strong arm. She could’ve written that report.”

Kiper compares Cutler to Jeff George. “Jeff George had a great arm, and Jeff George had a lot of great games in this league, and people were putting Jeff George in the HOF early in his career. So I’m just telling you, this is ridiculous.”

Also, Cutler once said he had a better arm than John Elway. Not surprisingly, Kiper isn’t a big fan of that comment, either. “So what? Who cares? Why would you make a comparison to John Elway, that could be taken like you’re in a position to critique the quarterback that is a legend.”

Not always a Kiper fan, but this one earned him some points in my book.

  13. From this day forward, (until about 5 p.m.) Kiper is a god!!!

    Screw the Broncos.

  14. We signed Travis Daniels 26 year old CB. Our CBs are looing good.

  15. Vrod74-MikeSD says:

Yeah I am not sure I understand that signing. Our DB’s looked good already. But, “In Pioli We Trust!”

  16. Extrametal says:

    Orlando Pace available…

  17. Orlando Pace for RT!

For all of you pundits out there trying to argue that we should move Brandon Albert to RT forget it!

He did a wonderful job at LT last year, and will only get better. Put Orlando at RT, he is a stop gap for two years tops.

  18. Adam Best says:

I’ve got some good ideas based on feedback. We’ll likely kick this off tomorrow!

  19. CincoOcho says:

Adam, you should try getting a way regular joes can put up a fan post or whatever. That way people can put up their own lil post and we can try to stay on the topic in these posts. I don’t know why but it kinda bothers me when Im trying to read comments on one topic and all of a sudden we are talkin about something different.

  20. baldy says:

I’m not exactly sure how this will work but if your still taking volunteers I have a raging clue for mock drafts so count me in if its not too late.

  21. woody says:

    Im in Batman

  22. Super G says:

    Let’s do it!!

  23. aCalPF says:

    Let’s open the polls.
