Well, the obvious thing tosay here is Andre Smith in a much later round. I know he is somewhat of a headcase and definetely out of shape now, but his poor performance at the combine and his poor attitude could be just what the chiefs need to snatch him up in the fourth or fifth round, he could be an instant starter with his obvious natural skill and was projected to be a top 3 pick until he became an idiot.

I'm really going to be sick if it's not an O-lineman to protect the center piece of our (most) teams. Cleveland doesn't show an extra second this year per NFL Draft Site 2009. I'd like another second but if I look at the players we got for our two it does ease the pain.

with all the trade scenarios flying around i thought that i would throw mine out there....

we switch first rounders with cleveland and allow mangenius to pick curry, than we still probably have our pick of crabtree or top o-linemen

and in exchange we get one of clevelands 2 second rd picks

this is of course based on the fact we dont take curry #3

102,

Your starting 7 rookies. No Team improves by starting 7 rookies. I could go on but I don't think I need too. This is so outrageous for my liking, that I can't even really argue with you.

All the bizarre trade scenarios are not something that I personally believe will play out.

With a few exceptions (i.e. Randy Moss), Pioli has been known for signing and drafting players that are scheme-specific, multi-tool players that are not necessarily gamebreakers or superstars, but are just very solid and very willing to play their assignment.

There are a few players on the team with experience in the 3-4 (Vrabel, Gilberry) who are known team guys and more are going to be added. We may very well see a hybrid 4-3/3-4 alignment with a player like Hali playing the role of a DE/OLB, although I don't know that he has the athleticism to do it. Dorsey will probably fit at the tackle/end position that the 3-4 requires. You must remember he was recruited to LSU by Saban, who runs a version of the 3-4.

Any thoughts on sending Tony to NYG. I think he would have a lesser role in our offense next year anyway. I would like to pick up a good o lineman for him? NYG has two 2nd round picks this year.

Our D is missing LBs and a RDE unless we go 3-4. We have most of the pieces if our LB were serviceable. Vrabel will help, draft Curry and pick up another and that should solidify the LB corps. If we go 3-4 it really helps, but will need to make adjustment on the D-Line. There will be more FA signings, and trades to put us in better position for draft day.

For 3 straight years our D improved, then fell apart trying to implement our abortive version of the Tampa-2. It will be much better this year.

Happy,

I think you are right. The more time that goes by, the more I think that Haley and his staff have decided that the defense has players on it. There are some high draft choices on the defensive side of the ball. I'm guessing the staff thinks that they can get these guys to reach their potential. It would make sense that it was more of a problem with scheme and putting guys in the right spot and situation to succeed. It would be almost impossible to whiff on every defensive player other than our cornerbacks.
