Heyward-Bey Runs 4.29 40, Other Combine Notes

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Draft | COMMENTS: 5 Comments |

The NFL Network had Darrius Heyward-Bey’s 40-yard dash clocked at a 4.29. That’s flying, folks. He keeps on looking better and better. The only problem is that the Maryland standout likely just cemented his status in the bottom third of the first round. If we could get him in the second he would really stretch the field for Todd Haley’s offense. Our Chiefs desperately need that kind of player.

Pat White ripped off a 4.5 40. I agree with Mike Mayock; I think he’s going to revolutionize the Wildcat position. I think every team in the league should look at him, given the success of the Wildcat last year. Especially if he is sitting there in round three.

Josh Freeman, Mark Sanchez and Matt Stafford all ran in the 4.8s. Is it just me, or does Stafford look like Phil Mickelson with Down Syndrome? Sorry, it’s been on my brain, so I had to go there.

That would be awesome if Bey or Unger was available for our second pick. Stafford does look slightly…yea…but I don’t see much Mickelson. And do you really think the wildcat is destined for greatness? Especially after it fizzed out in the second half of the year? If Tebow comes to the nfl next year and all I ever get to do is watch him and other wildcats rush for 2 yards over and over I’m going to be a tad upset.

The problem is that nobody really had a dual-purpose guy back there running the Wildcat. None of these guys could really throw. The Wildcat definitely has a future in the NFL, but at most 10-15 times a game max. Play White in the slot and as a returner, too, and he touches the ball as much as Reggie Bush does.

True. If the cat actually has an arm then the formation is worth a shit.

That was an incredibly rude statement, but I agree with the bulk of the post. We really need someone to stretch the field (I’m hoping we get lucky and can trade back in the first round to pick up a WR and there’s so much depth at LT that it’ll be hard to make a mistake there. That’s just one of my hopes.

    KCDom,

Meant no harm, my man. We inject a lot of humor into this site. I think sometimes we all take things too seriously, and laughter is the best medicine, especially when you are 2-14.
