Pioli Talks Larry Johnson, Combine Cop-Outs

Posted by: Adam Best

Scott Pioli was interviewed on the NFLN about an hour or two ago. He was asked a number of questions about the Chiefs, but here’s what I found most interesting…

On Larry Johnson:

There’s no situation. He’s under contract…

There’s no situation. He’s a Chief and we’re moving forward.

On draft prospects who choose not to work out at the NFL combine (ahem, Matt Stafford):

I don’t know if it irks me, but it certainly makes me wonder why would they turn down a stage like this to perform?

If you’re good, just go out and show it.

I love it. In one fell swoop the guy boosts L.J.’s value, or at least re-opens the door for him to return (argh), and takes a shot at Stafford. I agree on Stafford, by the way. Mark Sanchez was chomping at the bit to get out there and show what he can do. What does it say about Stafford that he’s scared to throw at the combine?

I’m just not sure about this kid. I think we’ve gone from Matty Ice to Natty Ice in one year’s time. And as you know, Natty Ice ain’t all that great when you’re thinking with a sober mind.

Remember Pioli took a disgruntled Corey Dillon and made him happy, granted he changed teams but maybe if they sit together they can mend fences. Thats if they still want him and like you said maybe they are just trying to boost his value??

Also i believe it was yesterday Sanchez even took a shot at Stafford by saying something in line with how of course im gonna throw im a QB what else would i do?

Stafford is just trying to protect himself from a bad display. Its not a bad idea you turn some people off by doing it. Personally I think it is a good move for both Stafford and Sanchez. Dirty has way more to prove than Sanchez. Both have alot to prove I just think Sanchez has more.

Corey Dillon is a great example. Yes he did have a change of scenery but in terms of the Chiefs so have they. All new faces and a fresh regime. We are a forgiving town and if he spends more time acting like Waters and running like were used to I think we will forget his past transgressions. See Ray Lewis/Kobe Bryant.

Sanchez should be poking Stafford. Teams will like this form of cockiness. Sorry confidence.

Dirty has way more to prove than Stafford.
