Haley To Give Larry Johnson A Fresh Start?

Posted by: Adam Best

It looks like new Chiefs coach Todd Haley might indeed give Larry Johnson a do-over. From USA Today:

New Chiefs head coach Todd Haley said he’s hopeful the team can resolve differences with disgruntled running back Larry Johnson, who said he wants out of Kansas City.

“All situations there’s solutions to,” said Haley, who added he has not spoken with Johnson since being hired earlier this month.

Haley said there’s a “clean slate for everyone” on the Chiefs, including Johnson, who rushed for 874 yards last season in 12 games.

“Everybody’s going to have an opportunity to show who they are and what they want to be,” Haley said.

On the other hand, he could just be trying to inflate L.J.’s deflated trade value. That’s my spin on these comments. If we can convince the league that there is no way we would just outright cut Larry, then he may yet have some value. I still don’t think he stays in Kansas City, but I also want him gone. After all, once you burn a jersey you can’t put it back together again.

            BallHype: hype it up!

It wouldn’t suprise me at all of LJ was on the team next year. It is an awfully big cap hit to take. Subtract $10 million at least from our cap space if LJ is cut.

Although, I think it would be more of a split between him and Charles if he stays. LJ getting 15-20 carries a game and Charles getting 10 and playing on all passing downs.

I think you let him rot on the bench until he’s done pouting and sulks back and says “I’m sorry coach, I just want to play”. He reminds me so much of Corey Dillon its sick. Just let him rot. Eventually he will grow up and try and earn his money. Its sad cause everyone talks about how nice a family and situation he comes from and he acts like such a shit head. My dad wouldve kicked my ass for pouting and acting this way, his should too.

so if he is on the team next year do we still root for him just cause he dawns the red and gold?

No not until he stops being a baby.
