As I’m sure a lot of you have heard, ESPN’s Chris Mortenson is reporting that Todd Haley spent part of last week on the horn assembling his new Chiefs staff. But at this point can we trust him? Wasn’t it just like a week ago that he reported that both Mike Shanahan joining the Chiefs and the Jacksonville Jaguars becoming the Los Angeles Botox were mortal locks? Ok, maybe not the second part, but he had to seriously backtrack after basically guaranteeing Shanny would be our next coach.
I do think Haley will be our next coach, but I think Mort is once again embellishing what has happened in an effort to have the juiciest details.
Addicts, is Haley already a done deal or is Mort full of it…again?

I see this as a calculated risk – he lost a lot of credibility with the Shanny thing……and he knows that this is highly likely to happen. Most people will wait for the story to break, but if he beats everyone then he can claim that he was still in the know.

I’m not ruling out Haley being the HC by any means but, I believe it violates league policy for the Chiefs to talk to Haley since he was coaching in the Superbowl. Also, I heard Haley told the KC star he would be in Hawaii this week for the Pro Bowl so his hire in KC would be unlikely to happen this week.
Yea, he told the Star that but the Chicago-Tribune later reported he could very well still be intending to visit and interview before he goes.

As for the Chris Mortenson crap….despite having a difference of opinion on some things, ADAM could easily take that schmucks freaking place. He is an idiot in ESPN clothing. I am sure the HC decision is likely to happen either the end of this week or next. They cannot wait too long to get ramped up again. Time is getting short, so to speak!
Mortenson must be getting his information from the British intelligence.(they were the ones that told then President Bush that there are WMDs in Iraq) It seems that he is reporting a bunch of hearsay. He is turning ESPN into the National Inquirer. Last time I checked, most people don’t watch ESPN to hear the latest gossip or assumptions. Mortenson needs to change his source of information.
Chris Myers said last Thursday that he had tried to get Todd Haley on his show but Todd told them it would have to be after the Super Bowl and then this “other thing”. Myers seemed to be going out of his way to say the other thing was Chiefs not definitely Chiefs-related, and that Haley was just the “presumed” next HC of KC. But he and his co-host seemed to be trying to keep from blurting something out that was told in confidence.
Hailey may or may not be the next great coach. I am just a little concerned about his side line demeanor. I mean Kurt Warner was arguing with him. I am also sick of the Bill Parcells crap. I can think of a lot of coaches that rate ahead of him. You know you win a super bowl in New York and now you are the greatest thing since sliced bread. Give me a break. I am looking at Russ Grimm.
