Stray Arrows: Spaguolo Revisted

by Breaking News

I thought highly of Steve Spagnolo as a potential head coach for us. However, some news was just reported that makes me happy we did not get him. According to Pro Football Talk, Spagnuolo has just hired our very own Dick Curl as assistant head coach/quarterback coach. Imagine us hiring Spags only to have him retain Dick Curl? I shudder at the thought.

Franchise quarterback, franchise quarterback... I keep reading those two words. What exactly is a franchise quarterback? Do you need one to make the Super Bowl? Are Rex Grossman, Matt Hasselbeck, Jake Delhomme, Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer, and Kerry Kollins franchise quarterbacks? They took their teams to the Super Bowl and in Dilfer and Johnson's cases, won the Super Bowl. How many of these "franchise quarterbacks" were drafted in the first round by the team they took to the big dance?

Yes, 447...if ANYONE knows how hard it is to find a franchise QB it is us Chiefs fans...

But that is just it...there is absolutely nothing to suggest that Sanchez is that man...The only reason HE even decided to come out is because he saw how he stacked up against this years joke of a QB class...He is cashing in, he knows in a decent year he has no business being anywhere near the first round.

I do agree the Crabtree pick is completely foolish and with Pioli there is pretty much no chance it will happen...cuz he knows how to build a team...so dont worry...

You know, I have a pretty good arm. I could almost definitely play both positions at the same time.

We should def. get Crabtree. Cassell will be our starting qb next year. Pioli called up and told me so. This sanchez kid is not ready for the pro's. He played on a team that was dominated by defense in a weak conference. While Sanchez would be a project, Crabtree will make an impact the moment he steps on the field and with the presence of Bowe and Gonzales will open up our running game, which I hope is without LJ.

As good as Sanchez looks I'm not sure if anyone knows enough about the kid to draft him in the top 5. One season and a decently easy schedule might not tell all.

QB doesnt matter as much right now...Ultimately, yes, a franchise QB is required but you could put Tom Brady behind our line the past few years and he would struggle to make the playoffs...The line is the foundation...

Does anybody understand how difficult it is to find a franchise qb? If we were actually able to stablize that postion, we could add and remove linemen, corners, receivers, or any position as long as we have a QB. I'm not saying he's the second coming of Tom Brady, but dammit, we've got to give him (and ourselves) a chance. I wasn't even alive the last time we drafted a QB in the first round. We must draft and develop our own QB. You want an identity? Pioli, with a new coach, and a new QB would give you an identity. Stop kidding yourselves with this Crabtree pick. It's nonsense.

O-Line...I dont give a piss if we already have a LT....that is the way to build an offense is with O Line...

Gump,

Actually, I don't care what you'd do at three, I just wanna know who were supposed to have at QB?

Gump,

what do you think we should do at 3?

fan56,

So happy SOMEONE is on the same page with me. I have such a hard time understanding why so many addicts want Michael Crabtree. I think Mark Sanchez looks great. He has the potential to be a great qb and could finaly - FINALY - give the Chiefs stability at the most important postion on the field for many years.

I am so glad Curl is gone. Glad someone else is hiring these guys away so we don't have to fire them.

No way on Sanchez at #3, not even 3rd Rnd!!!! He is at best a prospect or a project.

hey adam...when u gonna do a chiefs stock on mark sanchez i like him at # 3... i like his arm..his composure awarness pocket presence and his mobility..i would like to see us draft him
wat do yal think addicts??

GO CHIEFS!!

Someone always has time for Father Time!

Just read this article, states that Cowher leads our list, followed by Haley, then Spag. http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/01/23/cowher-leads-list-of-chiefs-candidates/
