I didnt know you were such an emotional guy….

    Lovely suit…

  2. Eric Crane says:

    Holy Pioli. Amen.

  3. vbchief says:

I just scratched off “laugh till I cry” on my bucket list. The yelling out the window was f#%!ing hilarious! I swear I peed my pants just a little. Still lol.

  4. AZScott says:

You know he is still alive, right? He didn’t die. I mean, he was just fired. Unless firing in KC means facing a real firing squad? LOL

Great stuff though Adam. Haley or Shanahan is next.

  5. Rihavens says:

I have to say, one of your better vlogs. I think you had some good points though, Chiefs fans have tasted the worst, maybe victory will be even sweeter. I for one will never look at a 9-7 as a bad season again. Hell 8-8 for that matter.

  6. Throw Up the X says:

next season is a tough tough schedule, but I think an over .500 record is entirely attainable

  7. Double D says:

    Ouch.

I believe the Fairness Doctrine that you liberals seem to be so fond of now requires that you post Herm Edwards farewell address. 8)

  8. doc says:

Ha ha awesome Double D, that made me laugh till I almost cried

  9. Nice Adam:

But I hope you never have to do that again!!

    Go Slow Po! (per whitlock)!

Whisper his name in K.C. – Herm
And all the sea of red will squirm.
He called the past three years rebuilding.
But “joke” comes to mind, the team he was fielding.
They play hard for him everyone states.
But the Chiefs paid hard, forced to reduce ticket rates.
He doesn’t want to be a coordinator?
Good because he has more experience being a procrastinator.
Herm is a television analyst lock.
Why? Because all he had in K.C. was talk.
    Beggers certainly cannot be choosers.
Especially when you only produce losers.
Herm thanks for your three years.
Now that you’re gone, so are my fears.
Good luck to the next team to hire him.
Your chance at success are very grim.

  11. Adam Best says:

Did we have people admitting that they were — GULP! — conservatives in public on this thread?

    Post-Dubya era, that’s the ouch :)

By the way, Herm Edwards is getting a $3 M golden parachute to walk away from a Chiefs team that he coached to the worst record in team history. I think things are pretty fair for Harm.

  12. chiefsfan3131 says:

LMFAO!!!!! I’m still laughing!!! Great work Adam, that deserves an Oscar for that performance;)

Glad to see Harm go, you touched on everything that pissed me off about Harm. Especially the staring at the scoreboard with that look of a retard on his face. Here’s to better days, with better GM’s and coaches. Maybe finally we can build a successful consistant winner here again, and possibly win a playoff game(s).

  13. Whir says:

I don’t hate Herm. I’m glad we moved on though. I’m ready to get past the Herm bashing and move on.

  14. Scott says:

Brilliant Adam. Brilliant. By far your best vlog to date.

I can’t even explain the feeling of euphoria. It’s finally a great time to be a Chiefs fan again. Here’s to slamming the door on the last 3 awful years of fandom to this team.

Herm did do one positive thing: he made the upcoming season an overly satisfying one (even at this point) with everything that he did. How good is it going to feel to win? Even mundane things like a well placed timeout will seem great. Post-game press conferences that actually have a point? Holy crap.

I can’t wait for the next season to start! Wake me up in September!

  15. ChiefsRock says:

Okay I have been a fan for 43 years, loyal to the Chiefs, would put me in the Real Fan group. For all you young yahoos out there thank God you are not important or signficant enough on whether the Chiefs succeed or not. Let me go back in time when you wanna be’s asked for the Chiefs to rebuild though from what i can see most of you have never used a dictionary in your life as to what rebuilding inquires (if some of these words are to big for you look them up) Herm wasn’t the problem he was and still is the answer. He started last year in a rebuild mode and i watched every game from Washington State (thank God for football package). This team was for all purposes and with injuries and all really making strides. Am i a Herm fan you bet i am. Most of you would not know or have ever heard of integrity, loyalty and true love for the game. So let me put it simple, i am pissed off at all bashers and the back stabbing Hunt family, Clark bought into it and now he turns his back on Edwards. Well i will not stop being a true loyal fan and though this a business it use to be a sport and it is a sad day when all the love for the game is gone. Peace out you numbheads

  16. skyler_smith21 says:

theres a few more items that need to be added to the HARM’s legacy:
1.) You play the game TO WIN!! EXCEPT…. when you go with youth and you play for 3
2.) his eye for talent when it comes to field goal kickers
3.) his eye for talent when it comes to starting quarterbacks
4.) his eye for knowing you can get by without a pass rush
5.) and lets not forget his ability to blow not only double digit leads but double digit 20 point leads (not just ANY coach can do that)
6.) and maybe his best talent; knowing when to throw the challenge flag (no one could throw the flag at just the PERCISE time in the game as he could)
7.) and last but not least! his commitment to running the ball! because thats what he said.

  17. Adam Best says:

ChiefsRock and Joe Posnanki. See, Herm, there are a few people out there who still love you.

Unless that was you, Herm. Probably. If so…+1 for the creativity, +1 for decent writing, and +2 for not saying OK every other word like you do when you speak. Almost fooled us! But do talk to someone about your anger. Wouldn’t want you to take that out on your son and adopted son (Jeff Webb).

6-26 and we’re the bad guys. As Herm would say (like four times in a sentence) OK.

  18. dbk301 says:

I don’t hate Herm. Every person I’ve heard talk about him that has met him likes him, he is passionate about football, and character means something to him. I think he is a great ambassador for the game of football. He had the right idea when he decided that the team needed to be blown up and rebuilt with young players through the draft.

Having said all that, he had to go. It is a common fact that Herm was in control of the draft the last couple of years and this team was all his. It seems that he doesn’t have the eye for talent that he was supposed to possess (Hali, Pollard, Morgan, etc..). It was also obvious that he got outcoached in the second half on a weekly basis.

I do agree with Posnanski that this wasn’t fair to Herm to let it drag on for as long as it did. I don’t care if he still gets his money, I’m sure none of us here would like to be in a similar situation at our place of work. Nonetheless he is gone now and it had to be done. Firing Herm made it a clean break from the Carl Peterson era. Now all we can hope is that Pioli makes the right decision and our beloved Chiefs become a winning franchise again.

  19. Dr. Paine says:

Wow that was hilarious. I was compulsively checking the net the last week or so to find out what everyone knew was the inevitable. Ironically, my friend told me while I was drunk at a bar. I bought like 20 shots to celebrate. How do you guys feel about the possible switch to the 3-4?

  20. sgt_ducttape says:

ChiefsRock, as a person who has an autographed picture of Jan Stenarude I would not call myself a bandwagon jumper. So let me pass on some information to you. To “inquire” is to ask or seek information. So maybe we should use the dictionary to look up what rebuilding “requires” (to have as a requisite; need).

Let us take this in another direction though. If you were successful in your job 31.25% of the time (15 wins out of 48 games, I did the math for you), would you get a raise? Would you get a pat on the back? If 50% of your job (defense) was performed better by 93.75% of your peers, would you expect praise? How about if half the way through a task (game) you were more than likely to fail? How about if your success rate decreased by more than 50% each succeeding year? How about if you consistantly selected the wrong tools to complete the task (players)? How about if you continuously identified your task shortcomings and not only failed to make the proper corrections, and made the same mistakes again, but increased the frequency and impact of your uncorrected short comings? How about…

Shit ChiefsRock, go back and play with your He-Man action figures and reminisce (think back about older times) about the integrity of kung fu grip and the loyalty of “life like hair”. Your blustering are tantamount to the inane ramblings of a Ginko-Biloba deprived Hoveround recipient. To quote you, “and though this a business it use to be a sport” I highly recommend the aerial spraying of Ritilin over your house. This may calm you enough to allow your proper conjegation of the written element.

Let me close with this, “For all you young yahoos out there thank God you are not important or signficant enough on whether the Chiefs succeed or not.” Huh? “On”? At least you capitalized and thanked God. Ok? Ok.

  21. Gump says:

    Sarge,

Nice reply. it seems that most people do not understand that being a great human being, and being liked, or even dare I say popular, does not mean you are good at your job. And just because you are fired for your performance, does not mean you are suddenly now a bad person. It simply means that you did not perform to an acceptable standard. Herm is a great guy, he loves the game, the young players like him, but he hsa a less that 33% succes rate, and has gotten worse as time wore on even as our division is collapsing around us.

    Time to try something different.

  22. sgt_ducttape says:

My point exactly there Gump. Years ago I was fired by Dominoes Pizza because I didn’t make dough fast enough. Is Dominoes a bad place? No. Am I an aweful person? No, I just wasn’t the right fit to produce the amount of dough required for the production of pizza. Dominoes wanted to go in a different direction. I had the flour, water and yeast. They provided me with the bigassed mixer. I just had this thing about 300 lb. blobs of dough getting into the dough chopper at 3 in the morning. So they brought in a new manager who discussed the new direction with me and I took my Dominoes coffee cup and went home.

  23. Double D says:

    Adam,

Who admitted to being a conservative? Connecting Dubya-era with conservativism is also a stretch I would think. Most conservatives that I know regard the whole Bush-Clinton-Bush era as anything but conservative. And before you get all warm and fuzzy about the new POTUS (who I happen to like and support) just note that we’ve got another Clinton (pro-Iraq war at that) as his chief advisor on foreign policy and national security.

Anyway, enough of that. I tend to agree with the sentiment that if you’re not liberal when you’re young, it means you’ve got no heart and if you’re not conservative when you’re older, it means you’ve got no brain. And if your post-mortem of Herm Edwards is any indication, I’d have to guess that you’re probably a tweener. :)

  24. Adam Best says:

All I have to say is that I hope I don’t have a brain when I’m old. And you can still have a brain and be an idealist. You don’t have to become jaded with age.

I’ve been warm and fuzzy about our new Prez since 2004. That’s always been my dude. I’ll leave it at that, since we’re getting off topic.

  25. Double D says:

As an idealist, I’ll take that as a compliment. No reason to ever become jaded – I’ll go with that too.

  26. Adam Best says:

I’ll give it as a compliment. Usually, I’m an optimist, too, but the Herm era made me extremely pessimistic.
