Kiper Has Chiefs Picking Sanchez In Latest Mock Draft

by Draft

Check out Mel Kiper’s latest Mock Draft

Not only does Kiper have our Chiefs taking Mark Sanchez — one of Adam’s Draft Apple fo sho — but Brian Orakpo barely cracks the top 15 and Michael Oher doesn’t. It also very well looks like Andre Smith and Matt Stafford could be off the board when our Red and Gold make their selection at No. 3. Our choice could come down to Aaaron Curry, Michael Crabtree and Sanchez, which is what most of us here at the Addict have been thinking for a little while now. Drafting a defensive end there is out of the question, but offensive tackle could still be a possibility. We’re going to have to keep an eye on Eugene Monroe and Jason Smith. Any Big 12ers see Smith play this season?

Perhaps the Chiefs will get lucky and Crabtree will be available when they pick. With what Fitzgerald has done for Arizona some team may be induced to trade the Chiefs 3 draft pics for a chance to get Crabtree

Like the GM said we are tring to build a great team not pro bowlers. If Sanchez or Staford gits a good grade and combine I say git him. If not go Defense unless Andre smith is their. Andre Smith is a massive beast that can run block but need help on pass blocking.

Um, I think 65% completion percentage is fairly accurate.

He started 16 games and was injured like... none.

I have already stated Sanchez is not ready for the NFL based on his accuracy and injury earlier in the year. I understand his coming out early moves up his draft position given the top QB's who elected to stay in school another year.

That said, I'd sure like to see his numbers in cold weather. For that matter, can anyone pull the numbers on USC QB's in the month of december who are playing outside?

I also think its way too early to start talking franchise QB's until after the combine. Our OLine needs help now. Unless we see some movement in FA, I like taking an OL with the #3

Plus...Mel Kiper is a toolshed...

This year's QBs are hideous...

Take the best OL available...I do not give a damn if he is playing Left Tackle or Right Tackle...we will almost immediately have one of the top lines in the league....And that is what makes an offense work....

I agree with you Adam that as deep as this class is on LBs, we should not take one at 3...I do not see what the hype is about for him...

Sanchez should never...EVER...be considered at number 3...He started 16 games and was injured in like...HALF...

I'd take Crabtree at #3 over Sanchez. Thiggy is serviceable and keeps Tony here. Having Bowe, Gonzalez and Crabtree to throw to would make Thigpen a fine QB if he can spread it around. I'm not convinced Sanchez is worth a #3 pick and I don't anticipate anything will happen between now and draft day to change my mind on that. We can pick up a QB later in the draft.

I hope you are all educated on the draft well enough to realize that all this is going to change drastically once the combine is over. Why waste all your time tooting players' horns when all is takes is a bad 40 time to drop em 10 spots.

120:

You would need an uzi to pull that trade off.

What about sending LJ and our third to Seattle, for their #4 and 2 & 3 rounders.

Adam:

Right now, Crabtree isn't even on my radar at #3. I do like him as trade bait with Seattle sitting at #4.

No way we take Sanchez, or Stafford at #3, we are not that desperate for a QB. I Love Curry but I can't see a LB at #3, not enough value especially considering how much LB talent is available in the draft and FA this year.

A good football team is made up of good football players. The more good players you have the better your team will be if properly managed. I believe you always take the best player available in rounds 1-3, and work on filling holes on day 2 when the talent and value evens out.

You can never go wrong with solid O-Line picks, and a solid line makes everything else easier. But Crabtree will probably be the best player available at #3. Really really really really really need to trade down and pick up lots of O-Line and LB talent.

I don't care if Gallery is contributing as a guard. You don't draft a guard with the second overall pick. You can't call Gallery anything other than a bust. He wasn't safe because if all else failed he could play guard, he was supposed to be safe because there was no way he wouldn't be stud LT.

Merlin, I was referring to most of us here at the Addict, but I changed it to say that. Such a ballbuster -- always trying to keep me on my toes. Seriously, though, I do not want Curry, but it looks like the Chiefs will have to look at him. You have to acknowledge the same thing about Crabtree.

Doc, good to see that you are on the Crabtree bandwagon. He, the Smiths, Sanchez and maybe Monroe are the only really options to me.

Why in the hell would you take Aaron Curry at 3 when you might be able to get someone like Laurinaitis early in round two or at least trade up to get him? That. Makes. No. Sense.

Both free agency and the draft are so loaded with LBs that drafting one at No. 3 would possibly be the worst Chiefs' draft blunder ever. Aaron Curry is not the next D.T. Sorry.

dbk, gallery was considered the safest pick that year. If he didn't make it as a LT, he could always be a serviceable Guard. Which is what happened. Yes he was a bust, but he still contributes. Can you say that about Ryan Sims?

I don't think we take Sanchez. I've been meaning to tell you Adam that I am totally on the Crabtree bandwagon especially if we can even get one decent defensive player in free agency. I think we will either draft crabtree or someone will trade up and get him. Did you see he had Laurinaitis going to the giants? Do you think he really falls that far? I know a lot of people have been thinking O-line, but if he were to fall that far any chance the chiefs trade back into the first round and get him? and that brings up something I was curious about, are there players that might fall into the bottom of the first round that the chiefs should think seriously about moving back into the first round for? If so who are they? Last year the we stayed put and got Flower power so maybe its not worth it. I know its all hypothetical, but I wanted to get you guy's thoughts.

Cheifs447 I pray for for your!!!! I think your out of your mind with thinking Sanchez is a FRANCHISE QB. I would like to take you to church for your SIN.

I would have to say it's going to be Smith or Curry. I read an article on Curry today and I was very pleased with him.

I've reading alot on the Senior Bowl practices and the Offensive lineman are having a tough time with the defensive players this year.

There is no such thing as a can't miss prospect. I remember how supposedly Robert Gallery was the safest pick in the draft and we know how that turned out. Having said that I'd really like to see the Chiefs take a qb in the first round for the fist time since I was four.

Ahhhhhh Mel Kiper and mock drafts. Just when I think my obsession with the Chiefs is getting ready to take a little vacation because the season is over; my obsession with the Chiefs and the draft takes hold again. Damn you football gods, why do you do this to me?

Is it just me or would anyone else like to see a no holds barred fight to the death cage fight between Kiper and McShay for the title of ESPN ultimate mock draft expert?

I sure hope Kiper is right. We need a franchis qb and Sanchez looks the best in this draft to me. Crabtree would be the biggest waste of a pick FOR the Chiefs. WR is prolly the last position we need to upgrade. He might be the best overall player in the draft, but he is definitely NOT for us. And I'm a Big 12 fan but sorry, Baylor doesn't play on TV.... ever.

Just who is we in the "We've been thinking for a little while now"?

Curry, Monroe, Crabtree. In that order. All three are "can't miss products".
