Mel Kiper, among others, is now speculating that Tim Tebow will be drafted sometime well after round one when he declares (either this year or next) as an H-back/wildcat/back-up quarterback utility player project. This makes a lot of sense to me, because while the kid is a football player, HE IS NOT A STARTING NFL QUARTERBACK! Also, one of the reasons I questioned his background and upbringing is because he was playing quarterback. He had enough of a transition going from option QB/jump-passer to prototypical pocket passer without any major personal hurdles to clear. I’m just thinking like any shrewd GM or scout would.
I think this is what’s going to happen with Tebow. In fact, players like Tebow could be the future. The NFL is starting to experiment with more innovative formations and hybrid players anyway. Still, I think the chances of Tim Tebow ending up with the Chiefs are slim to none, and Slim just left the building.
