To answer the question - yes, the longer it takes, the more problematic it becomes. Herm and all the coaches are in limbo and because of that, we don't really have anybody putting any passion into scouting, free agency, drafting, planning etc for the 2009. If we're going to get a new HC (which I assume we are) then we better do so right away because the viable options on that will become very limited very soon. Either way, there is a lot of work that needs to be done right now and the longer this takes, the more behind the 8 ball we get.

This whole thing is making me nervous, because since the passing of Lamar Hunt I have been totally underwhelmed with Clark Hunt's handling of all things related to the Chiefs. Carl Peterson supposedly resigned two to three weeks before the end of the season so Clarky baby could "begin" the search for a new GM. Here we are two weeks past the end of the regular season and still no GM. There is a very real possibility that the hang up in this whole deal is Pioli being forced to accept Herm Edwards for one more year or no deal. Scary to contemplate, but a very real possibility.

I think Clark Hunt is taking to much time now. It was ok to be thorough at first but now he knows who he wants so lets go get him. There hasn't been any other interviews scheduled to my knowledge so maybe we will here something tomorrow. If we don't here something this week. Good luck, we are heading down the same path of mediocracy that we have been on for years. Carl Peterson's middle name is mediocre. But maybe its the owners.

The Boston Globe reported yesterday that talks have heated up. I wish something would be announced so we could end all of the speculation. Here is the link.

Chuck P,, all you say can make sense except for some typical big market bias, and what may easily be in the mind of a relatively young power-driven achiever in pro sports. I don't think Pioli is ready for a rocking chair on the porch, and I haven't heard anything about him that says he would be highly prone to staying put because of the friends in his junior high daughter's facebook. Heck, if he's really pro-family like you suggest he might like to escape the constant drivel of the east coast city life and enjoy some home cookin' from the breadbasket. (Didn't someone say his wife was from Wichita?) I assure you, this two time NFL Exec of the Year didn't get there by taking paths of least resistance doing "nothing." By the way, building on what he has done, he really could have the opportunity at his relatively young age to completely cement his name as one of the all time great ones. There is one caveat about this achiever's work until now: Will people recognize his unique contribution, or will they be prone to believing his NE success was only due to a perfect collaboration of certain great leadership, coaching, and other factors? If you don't think that's possible then you may not understand why old man Vermeil came to Kansas City. A power guy would salivate at the thought that he could replicate the Patriot success somewhere else.

I would be more concerned if I heard he was forever and hopelessly loyal to the Kraft family. Anybody hear that?

I truly feel that if he was coming it would have already been announced. Here's why. He already has a great job and makes lots of $$$. He has been there for years and probably has tons of family and friends in the New England area. He has a wife and daughter that probably don't want to give up their friends, family, and nice home. Procrastination is a very powerful emotion!!!!!! Plus the path of least resistence is to do "NOTHING"!!!!!!!! Be "Realistic", why would he truly want to come to K.C.??????? Thats like asking "YOU" and "YOUR" family why don't you really want to move to "BUFFALO"????????? Get the idea?????

Well Adam if I were you I would be prepared to give Rosie a big ol' fat kiss squared on her...lips.

I never heard Josh McDaniels was Pioli's choice for head coach, I've always read and heard it was Kurt Ferentz.

Clark dad, Lamar, believed in hiring football people and letting them do their job, I hope Clark takes that from his father and let's Pioli have what he wants. Regardless of who the GM is, I can't see Herm staying, but the longer it goes on the more and more likely it looks like he will have at least one more year. I wouldn't be too shocked if Pioli returns to his safe haven-the Patriots where he has been and will continue to be well insulated.

To think that our ownership would pass on Pioli because of Edwards is too depressing to think about. Fortunately the facts as we understand them now don't point to that being the case. As a courtesy, when CP went out, classy Hunt wouldn't necessarily slash the coaches too. If he is really "hands off" like everyone says he is, he's not going to hire a GM and say "here's your coach."
