YES!!!!! I'd love to see another Aggie playing for the Chiefs. His brother Martellus just finished his rookie season for the 'boys at TE. Had four game streak of catching a TD pass. Mike Bennett is an athlete that can move around very well

More radical plan:
Trade LJ and Tony G. to Arizona for their first and second. This could only happen if LJ and Tony make some salary concessions, which they would to leave.
Sign Suggs DE, sign Lance Moore WR, sign OT Jordan Gross.
Draft: Trade down to #10 With San Fran. get their second rounder.
R1 #10 S Taylor Mays USC
R1 #26 DT Peria Jerry Mississippi
R2 #34 OG Herman Johnson LSU
R2 #43 LB Dannell Ellerbe Georgia
R2 #60 C Eric Wood Louisville
R3 #67 TE Jared Cook South Carolina
R4 #98 LB Jonathan Casillas Wisconsin
R5#131 RB Jeremiah Johnson Oregon
R6#162 DE Michael Bennett Texas A&M
R7#194 QB?

My plan is this:
Sign Suggs DE, sign Lance Moore WR, sign OT Jordan Gross.
Draft: Trade down to #10 With San Fran. get their second rounder.
R1 #10 S Taylor Mays USC
R2 #34 LB Brandon Spikes Florida
R2 #43 LB Dannell Ellerbe Georgia
R3 #67 OG Herman Johnson LSU
R4 #98 OC Antione Caldwell Alabama
R5 #131 LB Darry Beckwith LSU
R6 #162 DE Michael Bennett Texas A&M
R7 #194 QB ?

If Curry is there at #10 we would take him, but I doubt it. If Spikes is gone at #34 take Clint Sintim LB Virgina.

All i got to say is the boy(crabtree) is a piece of art and with our position we need to grab him. In the later rounds we can pick up linebackers and lineman on both sides

Adam

I believe that we should not take a qb with the first pick becasue I really do not see any of them being complete studs, I also believe orakpo is not worth the number three pick. so I am beginning to think that Crabtree is NOT a horrible option and would be a good pick but I believe that Smith, Curry or Oher would be better picks, if we were picking 5 or 6 and the choice came down to Stafford or Crabtree I would much rather have Crabtree, so I do not think you are way off but I believe that we can still pick BPA without getting Crabtree and also get a need.

We need to get Aaron Curry or Andre Smith in this years draft!!! I even like Michael Oher. Im kinda back pedaling on Crbtree a little this morning. I feel more comfortable getting an offensive lineman/ defensive lineman and LB.

I've been screaming on this site for Andre Smith, and though he's probably not making it past the Rams, I think he's the sure thing. I like Crabtree a lot, but if Smith falls to 3, we can't afford to pass. We all know that we need more O linemen.

Be forewarned, this may be kind of long. I read this blog often, but don't really find the time to comment as much as I would like.

For those not sold on Crabtree, I think you are crazy. Yes, taking a WR high in the first round is very risky and failing sets an organization back years, but I think Crabtree is the exception to this trend. Mushin9, I like your analysis, but I think everyone knows about the terrible teams that draft WRs in the first round. These organizations mismanagement goes far beyond just picking up WRs. Plus, the same argument could be made for QB. Either you hit a home run or you strike out with skill positions high in the first round. Crabtree seems to posess all the skills and from what I hear, doesn't have your typical flashy WR personality. In short, I think he is the best WR prospect in a long time.

All that said, I am still not sold on picking him third. I believe in the BPA philosophy as well, but it should be in the context of how big a difference there is between the BPA and the 2nd BPA, as well as what we need at that position. Although the thought of having Crabtree, D-Bowe, and Tony G out there at the same time makes me feel kind of like a 14 year old at the playboy mansion, WR is probably like 10th on our list of needs. As far as the next BPA, ultimately I will withhold my judgement until after the combine, but O-line seems to fit right now. I think we need LB or DE more, but we would be reaching if we filled that need at third. O-line is much safer and I want McIntosh gone. If I have to watch a DE come across his face untouched or watch him try to fall on a ball after his man stripped the qb one more time next season, I am going to put my remote through my tv. Like I said, I will reserve judgement until after the combine and FA on what we should do, but this is what I am thinking right now.

I think most can agree that trading down would be ideal, because we need LBs and DEs most and there is not much available at 3. It is definitely hard to trade out of the top five and probably unlikely, but if any team ever had a good chance, we do. If Crabtree is still available at 4, I am 83% confident the Seahawks will take him. If another team is as high on him as some of us are, someone might try and move up. The question is who. I would like to trade down into the 7,8,9 spot ideally, but the only team I think that would do that is....yeah...the Raiders. And I don't want to see Crabtree lining up in Silver and Black twice a year for the foreseeable future, even though with all Crabtree's skills, Russell would find a way to put to much air under the ball. So if he doesn't go to the Raiders, who would want him? And what would we need in return to trade out? Adam, I think this is an article that needs to be written at some point, even if it is kind of early. Especially since most of us would like to trade out of the 3rd pick.

Defense first IMO. Sure Warner had great seasons when he was given two huge weapons on the outside. But lets not forget the fact that in both situations he also had a top 5 draft pick playing tackle on his O-line in Pace and Levi Brown. Would it hurt to pass on C-tree only to see him shine down the road for someone else? Sure it would. But would it hurt worse to have a horrible defense and an O-line that couldn't block a Jehovah's Witness from knockin on your door? I just can't get the image of Peter Warrick out of my mind.
