Jared Justifies Payday

At least for now, with two big sacks. Jared Allen straight up embarrassed Tra Thomas on that speed-rush move that resulted in a sack and a Donovan McNabb fumble. That was a huge, huge play in a game just as big.

I can’t say that I don’t miss the guy, but I still think we were smart to move him to the Vikings. Now we have Branden Albert and we’ll also be able to ink a couple of good free agents this Spring with the cash we saved. I know it hurts, Chiefs fans, but this was the best thing for both Jared and us.

Too bad Jared can’t play quarterback.

Jared is a hell of a player. I miss him in a Chiefs uniform. Hopefully, we can replace his production some day.

I have a feeling if they would have kept Jared they would have still addressed LT in the first round, probably by trading down. I really miss him in a Chiefs uniform especially considering Chiefs set an NFL record for fewest sacks in NFL history. Never thought I would see us so low.

“Reading the latest tea leaves, that puts Pioli in the Chiefs’ wheelhouse. League sources tell me Pioli seems excited about the opportunity in Kansas City, which he’s believed to be interviewing for Monday. Pioli still has to do his due diligence and thoroughly research the Cheifs’ roster, but he’s said to be high on some of the building blocks that Kansas City has in place (like offensive left tackle Branden Albert, and cornerbacks Brandon Flowers and Brandon Carr).

The Chiefs are also in an enviable salary-cap situation, with at least $30 million of room to maneuver, and I don’t think it hurts one bit that Pioli’s wife was born and still has family in the Wichita, Kan., area. From a lifestyle perspective, Kansas City might be a better fit for Pioli than even Cleveland.”

I miss the big lug, but I think he is still a time bomb. Too much baggage. It was the right move for all parties. I prefer the draft picks and the cap room with a new GM coming in.
