Mike:

We draft #3 because we had the tougher schedule. The theory goes as follows. If teams have the same record, the team with the weakest strength of schedule drafts first. The team with the strongest strength of schedule is assumed to be the stronger team. Between us and the Rams, the difference in strength of schedule was one, count it, one game. If the Rams grab someone you have your heart set on, think about it. It came down to one freeking game.

Sorry Adam, I have to disagree. If Andre Smith is half as good as they say, he SHOULD definitely be our #1 guy. Has anyone heard, are we really #3 or do we do the coin flip with St. Louis? I thought we had the tougher schedule so I am not sure how they get to go ahead of us. If they do Andre Smith is gone and we should....TRADE DOWN!!!! If there isn't a true #1 defensive guy like Dorsey (I know the jury is out for some of you, but I still think he is going to be a stud, with some help!!) then we should trade down and get two or more picks in this years draft, get the Male dude or Laurent...whatever his freaking name is! We need LB and DL help bad! I wish we could get Suggs or Peppers (both in my dream land of course!), but don't see our beloved Cheaps paying that kind of dough for either of them.

Detroit? What about the old St. Louis teams, or the Colts? That 15-1 Vikings team that was two games away from winning it all? Last year's Pats? Would the Bengals have even sniffed the playoffs without Housh and Ocho a few years back when they miraculously made it? Two great receivers can be a potent weapon.

Additionally, Crabtree is more Calvin Johnson than he is Roy Williams (headcase), Mike Williams (slow) or Charles Rogers (brittle).People love pulling Detroit out, though. Thing is, Matt Millen's dumbass isn't going to be making the picks.

We've all seen a plethora of "#1 receivers" go through Detroit, and look how far that team has gone. Arizona is an exception, rather than the rule. Still, if Crabtree is the best available player when we draft, then I say take him.

I think it would be an awesome deal if we could cure our other illnesses in free agency. Woody I dont think free agents blend in with the rest of the team very well at times.

They were Peterson signings, but they were also highly regarded at the time by many of us...I am just saying...Free Agents always seem promising...

Woody, those were Peterson signings. Who says the new GM is going to sign washed-up vets?

It is way too early to speculate on the draft at this point. We need to get a new GM, and establish who our coach is going to be, and then see which players we can sign in free agency. I hope we can fill a lot of our needs before the draft and then we can afford to take the best player available (which could be Crabtree) or else trade down and fill our remaining needs. The direction this team goes next year has everything to do with who we sign as the new GM; so come on Clark and get us going on the right track.

Yes, can't wait for the next Kendrell Bell/Napoleon Harris/Ty Law/Every defensive player we have signed for years....

Needless to say I disagree...But I would agree it would be a reach to take any defensive player at our pick...

Smith over Crabtree...trade if possible...
