    whoaaaa huge news

  2. woody says:

You better quit watching ESPN and get that mock draft up….

…so we can argue about it all week…ha

  3. Slack JAW says:

The AFC west in an absolute nightmare!!!

  4. USN_Chiefs58 says:

Scary Thought, But Shanahan Was The VP Of Player Personnel At Denver…Could That Mean Mr. Hunt Would Be Interested In His Services For The Chiefs?

  5. Wow! Absolutely huge news.

    Crazy NFL year.

    shannahan will land somewhere quick.

I am begining to get worried about our situation with all these changes sweeping nfl front offices.

  6. Randy5k says:

WHY ARENT WE INTEVIEWING ANYBODY YET????

  7. Merlin says:

Wow! Now, think of this. If Norv and Herm gets fired, that would leave Tommy the Cable couch as the dean of the AFC West coaches.

  8. Zach says:

All I am saying is that if Shanahan and Mangini can get fired for their seasons then Herm should be shown the door ASAP.

  9. Randy5k says:

We are going to get everyone elses castoffs now this is BS

  10. sandya says:

If we got Schottenheimer, Cowher, or Shanahan I’d be just thrilled..Mike Shanahan love or hate him you have to respect him as a coach..Herm may talk a lot about “playing to win the game” but we all know thats compelte bull shit..Herm likes being competitive..Shanahan plays to win the game and everyone knows that..I’d accept him with open arms if he we’re to be hired here..He knows how to evaluate players much better than Herm as well..They actually have a young team in Denver (although not as young as the chiefs) which nobody seems to really notice.

  11. Randy5k says:

owner Pat Bowlen might try to jump into the bidding for Pats V.P. of player personnel Scott Pioli, in order to block Pioli from landing in the AFC West with the Chiefs this from profootballtalk.com

  12. Merlin says:

Shanahan has won what when he didn’t have Elway??? Please he is so overrated.

  13. sandya says:

Fine but Herm Sux..When you consider that we have Herman edwards as our head coach, Shanahan looks incredible..I don’t give a damn if Tony wants to leave if we blw this team up..I realize Tony believes Herm is a good coach but Tony also said that our 2007 and 2008 teams would be much better than people thought..So we know he can’t evaluate situations all that well..Blow this team up..New Coach or I can’t stay and love this team any longer..I hate Herman Edwards..

  14. bannyc9 says:

Here’s a thought. It is being written that Cowher doesn’t really want to coach until 2010. If that is the case wouldn’t it make sense to keep Herm and then make the jump? One more year of Herm is worth many with Cowher.

  15. Shanahan has “always been a thorn in our side”, why? because he is good. This was a bad move by the broncos, especially at this time.

I would rather have him (shanahan) than Herm, Mangini, Romeo Crennel, Marty, or any other coach listed out there. Plus he knows a little something about our team as he faces us twice a year.

I bet he takes a couple years off though, considering he is supposed to collect 20 million over the next three years for doing nothing.

Interesting?? Can wait to see what happens next.

  16. Randy5k says:

well the broncos – chiefs games would be more fun

  17. Randy5k says:

At a time when the New York media and Jets fans are going bonkos over the possibility of former Steelers coach Bill Cowher joining the team, Adam Schefter of NFL Network turns a fire hose on the frenzy.

“No matter what anyone says,” Schefter writes, “Bill Cowher is not going to be the New York Jets next head coach. If he talks to them – which is a possibility simple for the fact that he is smart enough never to big time anybody – it is to do nothing more than to inform them that he is not interested in the New York coaching job in 2009 nor any other head coaching job at this time and he respect[s] the job the Jets do.” this per profootballtalk.com. what a fascinating time to be a Chiefs fan

  18. Maine_Chief says:

Zach, Mangini and Shanahan were fired because their teams did not meet the owners expectations. Herm had no expectations except to rebuild and play the young guys. Completely different situation.

  19. woody says:

Yea, but NY people are silly and won’t listen…

Shanahan is not “over-rated” at least not as much as some here are trying to insinuate…He HAS won Superbowls without John Elway…He was the Offensive guru for the 49ers in 1994…Made Steve Young into a HOF QB…

He will do whatever he wants to do…he is now the top candidate for every job…With Cowher un-willing to return, that is….If he wants to sit out and collect, he will…If he wants to pull up and head out…he will…

    Horseface has the initiative…

  20. Randy5k says:

Yes but now Denver will be bidding against anyone we want not only to benefit their team but to keep anyone from KC

  21. MasterBlaster says:

Is this the AFC West or an episode of the aprentice? I cant tell anymore.

    Your Fired!

  22. Randy5k says:

if we were interested in anyone outside the organization it would be in the news that we were in talks, we either are going internal or we are missing opportunities I think. sunabitches

  23. woody says:

Nah…Don’t freak out too much that you aren’t hearing about us interviewing people…Look at the candidates Mort reported: Pioli, Kokinis (Ravens), DeCosta (Ravens) and Polian (Colts)….We are waiting for them to be eliminated so we CAN interview those other three…

  24. woody says:

Plus…with all the other teams searching too noone wants to cover Chiefs stuff unless it is something imminent….we are not exactly covered often…

  25. Randy5k says:

    dude that makes sense.

  26. woody says:

“I’m disappointed, I’m shocked, I’m not happy about it, I’m not pleased with it at all. We had zero inkling this was going to happen. I didn’t have a clue.”

    -Jay Cutler

  27. Arrowhead Gold says:

Denver will be upgrading for sure. Shanny’s “genious” coaching has been figured out by the rest of the league. His eye for talent is what got him fired: Travis Henry, Javon Walker, Jarvis Green, Maurice Clarrett, etc., etc. Spit on you Chiefs “fans” that would welcome him to KC.

  28. woody says:

    He won’t be coming here….

But I dont believe they will be upgrading…

It is kind of amusing to see teams fan’s are at the same place we were weeks ago…Broncos fans over there talking about luring Bill Cowher in there…Such an innocent hope…But there is little to no chance of that happening, ever…its just cute is all…lol

  29. Slack JAW says:

As much as I dislike the idea of Shanahan in red next year, It would be a huge upgrade from the current coach…

  30. sandya says:

    The chiefs have four options

    1. Cowher
    2. Schottenheimer
    3. Mcdaniels
    4. Shanahan
    5. Or stay with the same coach that drives every single one of us insane..The fan base is apathetic towards the current chiefs strictly because they hate Herm..I love Tony but if he wants to leave because we’re blowing up the coaching staff then soo be it..This fan base would reunite for any of the above coaches..Having Shanahan as a coach would restore a lot of respect to this team…Shanahan can really coach..Please Fire Herm

Shanahan, Cowher, and Schotty are the best “proven” coaching options available..I refuse to waste another year on Herm the worm

  31. Zach says:

Maine_Chief, Clark said before the season he wanted to field a competitive team while developing youth. I don’t think a 2-14 season in the weakest division in the NFL is what his expectations were nor should it be any of ours!

    FIRE HARM!

  32. ruck the faiders says:

Harm is gone. If it doesn’t happen I won’t go to a game next year and I haven’t missed a game in 6 years. I say the Pioli McDaniels team is the best option.
Thinking of Shanahan in red makes me want to vomit by the way. I have respect for the guy but I could never support him. I’m sure alot of you feel the same way.

  33. Randy5k says:

I dont like MIKE I NEVER HAVE so if he was in RED well I dont know I love the Chiefs so I would still be going to the games Im sure.

  34. Vrod74-MikeSD says:

ok. It is time again for me to piss off the powers that be here on AA. QUIT CALLING FOR HERM’s HEAD!! This team is full of young guys as you are fond of pointing out, therefore we need him to stay put until at least 2010. I know you hate hearing this, but it is true. Was Herm the one on the field missing assignments and totally whiffing on tackles all season long? No! I suppose you guys think Marty deserved to get fired after a “disappointing” 14-2 season in San Diego after his players failed to make tackles and made nothing but BONEHEADED penalties, missed tackles and not going down after the fumble recovery? Wrong again. Marty should still be in SD and Herm should still be in KC…..at least until Cowher gets the coaching bug again. There really aren’t any coching options I would want in KC right now other than Cowher. Marty could possibly get us back to the playoffs, but he can’t come back due to the “situation” he got himself into when he left the first time. Besides, it seems SO convenient to me that everyone on here is blaming the HC for our defensive woes, when it is hard to make your D good when the key components keep getting hurt. I mean didn’t we pull grocery baggers off the street to fill our LB, CB and DL core this year due to injuries? So is the fact the guys get hurt the fault of a coach with limited depth at various positions? Ok the lack of depth might be his fault, but NOT as a point to fire him. So we went 2-14. It hurt, almost as bad as ten root canals at once, but we WILL be better next year. We all knew this season was a bust. Especially when the “franchise QB” got hurt in the first or second game, came back and got knocked out for the season.

-Since everyone else is spitting out scenarios I might as well too……
I see (gulp, I REALLY HATE THIS GUY!!!!!) Shanahan as our new GM/CEO, Herm Stays with the rest of the coaching staff, unless Gun has had enough, then we try to get Crennell in to use our 4-3 D. Yes he sucked as a HC, but do you really think Norv, Cam, Wade, Martz, Marinelli or any of the guys who got fired are good enough to still HC’s. Sure Norv is in the playoffs, but not due to anything he has done. The bolts like it or not are just damn talented. Since my Chiefs are sitting at home, again, I will be rooting for the Bolts to pull a NYG on the league.

-As for the draft…..I am sorry, but I am not sold on Crabtree either. He might be a product of a good system, which we aren’t sure we really have one of those. IF we win the #2 slot ahead of STL we should take the top OL, LB or DL in the draft. I do agree about the siging of Suggs and/or Peppers. I like both of these guys. I wanted us to draft Suggs, but we got DBowe, so I am still happy, he is a stud at WR. Just under/over 2000 yards his first two seasons I believe. Think if we get either or (PLEASE GOD HELP ME WITH THIS MIRACLE!!!)both Suggs/Peppers, we should ONLY focus on OL in 1, LB in 2, OL in 3 and then get other needs in the rest of the draft. BTW who is the idiot that suggested we go out and get Mike Nugent as a K???? Did you not see how long Connor Barth went before he finally missed one? All he needs is to bulk up a bit to get more power and he will another Nick Lowery for us.

-Next. Adam sorry about this next one, because I know how much you are in love with this idiot!
TRADE FREAKING LJ FOR A 5TH, 6TH OR 7TH!! I DON’T CARE HOW LOW OF A PICK WE GET! GET HIS WOMAN BEATING ASS OUT OF HERE!!

  35. Vrod74-MikeSD says:

    Oops! Hit the wrong button.

We don’t need LJ any longer. We have a new spread offense that best fits guys like Kolby Smith, Jamaal Charles and Dantrell Savage! Still think Savage is another diamond in the rough. It is best to get what we can for LJ and move on. He did great with Vermeil’s offense and has suffered since he left either with injuries or off the field ignorance. What is his IQ lower than Pigpen’s number?

  36. Vrod74-MikeSD says:

Oops. I should have said LJ instead of DBowe. For some reason I had DBowe on the brain. Sorry for the mistake. Yes I realize Suggs went before we got LJ as well, but we could/should have done a CLE and traded up to get him.

  37. Vrod74-MikeSD says:

BTW, did anyone see how Vic Carrucci on NFL.com has us picking up a RB?!! Is he insane? We need much more help at other positions. I don’t think our HB core is that bad with the new O. I sure wish we could snag Tank from San Diego though!! He is a beast and would make the new spread offense sooooo damn dangerous!!! Too bad the Chargers are likely to make him the heir to LT.

  38. Zach says:

You should read Adams previous post when he said he is done backing LJ. After his comments AA is no longer backing him.

Comparing a 14-2 season to a 2-14 season is ________ (fill in the blank with any insane word). Sorry but I would’ve kept Marty because I don’t believe it was his fault that the Chargers lost in the playoffs.

I do however believe that Herm consistently losing games in the 2nd half when he has the lead, poor clock management, him having Dick Curl on his staff, worst “challenger” in the NFL, a coach that never makes halftime adjustments, and a coach that never blames himself or his coaching staff. Sorry but backing Harm at this point does not make any sense to me. Saying that injuries was the problem with the defense is like saying the Chiefs should’ve made the playoffs. Herm had Dorsey, Hali, Tank, Pollard, Paige, Flowers, Carr, Dorsey, Derrick Johnson, Demarrio Williams, and many other players he either drafted or brought in for the majority of the season. So please spare me…

I’m a Chiefs fan that will not support a Coach that has gone 15-33 in his 3 years as HC. That’s a winning percentage of .313, now if he was a baseball player then I would have him hitting for the Royals but no way should this man remain as our head coach. I watched him coach the San Diego game and blow one of the worst games I have ever seen. I sat in the 2nd coldest game in Chiefs history to watch them come out at half and make zero changes. So you can save the “Save Harm” for another thread/site/board :) because I am done with him and I think most of us here are.

  39. Randy5k says:

I hit all the home games last two years. I cant remember a single moment when the Arrowhead crowd got excited over something Herm did or a decision he made, not a single one. Time for another coach.

  40. Randy5k says:

Latest is Shanahan to the Jets
