Is The King Sending A Shot At AA?

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: NFL | COMMENTS: 14 Comments |

As you all know, BTT (Before Tyler Thigpen) I started a campaign for the Chiefs to sign Michael Vick. This campaign generated a significant buzz, even being discussed in length on the NFL Network. I’m still interested in Vick, but the deal is if Chan Gailey and Thiggy Smalls can win two games then I will drop the campaign and instead push for them to stay. It doesn’t look like that is going to happen. Maybe the defense will force me to alter my deal, but I’m still interested in Vick at this point.

Well, it looks like Carl Peterson isn’t going to let any campaigning for Vick go on on his watch. From FOX Sports:

“I hope they’re prepared to face the dog lovers of America,” Kansas City Chiefs president and general manager Carl Peterson said earlier of a team that acquires Vick. “There are going to be a lot of problems. People love their pets, and particularly dogs. There will be protests, people expressing their thoughts — even though he’s served his time.”

I mean, I don’t remember this guy saying anything about there being a lot of people lovers in America when Pacman Jones rumors were surfacing. Oh well, all we have to endure is one more year before this punk is dethroned.

While you’re over on FOX Sports, check out my latest column on why the NFL should adopt a flex schedule for its Thanksgiving slate of games.

  1. If KC Defense was even a slight bit better, thiggy smalls (Thigpen) would have one a couple of those games.

Chan Gailey and Thigpen deserve a lot of credit.

Time to bring Cower back and reunite him with Gailey!

    GO CHIEFS!

NO WAY TO MIKE VICK. Lest not forget that the Falcons were not a great team under Vick, and I doubt that his accuracy has gotten better throwing absolutely nothing while killing time in his cell.

Let’s face it, Harm Edwards, and his coordinators will be back next year(Chan Gailey deservedly so). I believe that Petersen retires after this year, and Kulrich takes over. UGH!

  2. MasterBlaster says:

Crooks just dont mix well with KC. Now the Cowboys and the Raiders on the other hand…

The best thing that Michael Vick can do for us, is get picked up by another team in need of a QB, eliminating a potential rival for Bradfords talents in the 2010 draft. Chew on that for a while.

  3. Double D says:

    Vick to Detroit. Campaign that!!!

  4. Adam Best says:

Mike Vick damn near took the Falcons to the Super Bowl in 2004. I was right when I said people like dogs more than fellow humans. Or at least are more appalled by dogs suffering than fellow humans.

And, yeah, Al Saunders and Trent Green found a way to win with Greg Robinson’s defense. Can and Tyler need to do the same. No excuses, especially with this patsy of a schedule.

  5. Eric Crane says:

Oh Carl, of all places in America, Arrowhead would probably see the least amount of protests.
Especially if Vick won a game. Now a West Coast team with all the bleeding hearts…yikes.

  6. Hey Crane and Adam read this and tell me if you want Vick on our team.

Please read the whole thing and let us know your response.

  7. Adam Best says:

Crane, you’re right — except for Philly. They have a jail and a judge at the stadium! Hey, they need a QB.

  8. Randy says:

Cant you see the Peta troops lined up outside of the Raiders games throwing blood on fans? Depends on the animal Adam. Cruelty to dogs and you go to the joint. Cruelty to deer and you get your picture in the paper with the dead carcass!

  9. Eric Crane says:

They wouldn’t need to throw blood on the Raider fans, they are already bleeding from stab wounds at the tailgate.

  10. tim says:

Im not going to lie and say i don’t like Mike. I thought he was one of the best Qb’s to watch when he played. His highlight reels are unbeleivable and the guy made plays.

Lets be serious about this. Who honestly believes that all NFL players are clean-as-a-whistle, completely law abiding citizens. Don’t be fooled and think its only the Johnsons, Vicks, and Jones’ because really, they are the only players who have gotten caught. To put it in perspective, who among us Addicts can honestly say they have never done anything against the law and gotten away with it. Speeding down the highway when we are late for work, stealing a peice of candy when we were kids, or even got in abit of a scuffle when someone has had alittle to many. C’mon. Lets not put a blanket over our eyes and live in thi fairy tale world.

Question for everyone to answer. (Completely hypothetical so go with it). Would you rather consistently go 0-16 getting blown out each week by 40 points, with a team full or saints and good samiritans OR go 16-0 consistently blowing out teams and winning back to back super bowls, but the team that consists of drug dealer and thieves. I know which one i would choose.

This statement by Peterson, is not about football, its about politics. It’s not about wins and losses, its about image and ticket sales. Lets not forget, its a intrest and hobby for us, but its a profession for them.

All that ranting aside. Just bring him in for a work-out and see if he can play. We are not signing him, not making him apart of the team, we are just evaluating a free agent. No need to lose sleep about it chiefs fans.

  11. Randy says:

I wouldnt choose the drug dealing thieves but you make a good point Tim, the players arent sitcom stars they are real people with real problems and real vices. Wonder how we would react if we got all the money we could spend and all the women we could …….overnight.

  12. Krans says:

So i’ve been pretty quiet about the whole Vick campaign thing but i’d have to say it would be a sad day for me if it happend.

Let me start by saying Vick was one of my favorite players to watch, hes so incredibly athletic and filled with potential.

Having said that after hearing about the dog incidents i lost all respect for him entirely. I understand people make mistakes but thats just ridiculously cruel, it wasn’t just dogfighting it was the pain and torment he would put the dogs through thereafter if they didn’t perform.

Look i hope Vick somehow becomes a better person, but to be quite frank i wouldn’t feel sorry for the guy if he never enjoyed a NFL snap again and lived a miserable life. Yea i’m an animal lover, but anyone who has ever owned a dog who meant a lot to you then read about the shit Vick did wouldn’t respect this SOB, seriously you have to be messed up in the head to do some of those things.

SO in conclusion, i would side with carl on this one, i’ve been a chiefs fan since i was about 6 but if they signed Vick i’d pretty much lose respect for the organization.

  13. Double D says:

    2 or 3 points I guess.

Vick may be a gifted athlete but he has never proven himself to be a gifted NFL quarterback.

Once Vick is released from prison, he will very likely then face additional punishment from the NFL because Goodell has yet to make any kind of determination on that account. What that means is that in all likelihood Vick will get at least a year’s suspension. Bottom line, that will put him at least 3 years removed from the game.

Considering the time he will have spent away from the game, the fact that he never really showed a lot as an NFL QB, and his off-the-field image problems, it’s hard for me to see how he would be worth all the trouble for any team. Vick may get a look somewhere, someday (Dallas? Minnesota?) but unless he can pull off a miracle, I highly doubt he’ll be anybody’s franchise qb ever again.

  14. Adam Best says:

Well, Double D, Vick has already missed two years, so it depends on what is considered his suspension. Goodell might consider it already served.

Jeremy, I’m all for second chances in life. Just the way I am.

Krans, I disagree, but I understand.

Tim, that’s probably the best comment I’ve ever seen you make, and they are all pretty good, so…
