    • Randy5k : Yeah I think its a class move
    • MadMartigan : I figured as much. its good to see that the apple didn't fall far from the tree in the hunt family. most of me likes the fact that we are being quiet, but the other needs to know.
    • Randy5k : Clark is best friends with Pats owners son hope that helps
    • Woody : Yes, I love it too...Very professional...Randy Lerner has been leaking nonstop and being about as professional as a used car salesman...its sad...
    • Adam : Not yet. Clark is sure keeping things quiet. I like the way he conducts himself. The folks over at PFT are raving about it.
    • MadMartigan : any word how the interview w/ Pioli went?
    • Woody : uh oh....sounds about like what happened to me...I had to call the ISP and have many conversations...
    • Adam : Try refreshing, Randy. Still, I don't know why you'd be having any issues. You use IE?
    • Randy5k : I cant access aa on my home computer anymore anyone else having that problem?
    • Randy5k : I like the way the Chiefs are keeping quiet.
    • Woody : I feel the same way, Adam...I think if the interview is tomorrow then we may know something then or Tuesday...
    • Gump : Pioli looking better all the time. maybe we'll know something tomorrow?
    • Adam : No, I think Pioli is a good bet to come here. I honestly have always felt this situation is better than Cleveland's. The Browns are locked into a lot of bad contracts and have some rotten apples on that team. This is a great spot for Pioli.
    • epic : thanks for the link as well adam
    • Rihavens : I had a nightmare when I was sleeping today that the Chiefs traded Thigpen for a 5th and said they are still commited to Croyle. It was so plausable I had to double check.
    • Woody : Cool...its exciting...You think it is just posturing language?
    • Adam : Here's the AP link: «link» (you can always just paste in links)
    • Woody : Don Banks article...second bullet-point...
    • epic : where does it say that at?
    • Woody : Don Banks says Pioli is "excited" about the situation in KC...Check SI.com for more, or AP
    • chiefsfan3131 : I miss Jared Allen!!!
    • Adam : Haynesworth isn't going anywhere.
    • chiefsfan3131 : I'll agree with ya again about Suggs being a priority, could you imagine the benifits of having him and Haynesworth. I can Dream I guess...LOL
    • Adam : That would be very interesting. Shanny is down in Mexico for two weeks, so we won't know anything about him going anywhere untilhe returns apparently.
    • chiefsfan3131 : But rumors are exactly what they are untill something"for real" happens.
    • chiefsfan3131 : Per our NFL source, Warpaint Illustrated has confirmed that former Denver Broncos Head Coach has an eye on Kansas City. Per that source, he has working through a third party to make sure that Clark Hunt knew of his interest in working for the Kansas City Chiefs.
    • chiefsfan3131 : here is the line:
    • chiefsfan3131 : I read it on Warpaint forums.
    • Adam : I have not heard that, but I can see him wanting to exact some revenge on the Broncos like he did the Raiders for years.
    • chiefsfan3131 : Seperate the GM and HC and Team Pres duties. It is more productive for all. As long as all involved can work together. I heard that Shanny would like to come to KC to coach.
    • Adam : Jared is getting triple teamed. Wow.
    • Adam : Well, we have seprated business and football so that is not going to happen.
    • chiefsfan3131 : Moving away from Pioli might be a good Idea. I am not sold on Bringing a guy in that wants the entire package as Gm and Pres. Look at the track record of those who have had that kinda power. Also we just kicked CP to the curb and that was his undoing as well.
    • Adam : Pollard was better than Page this season. Led the team in tackles and had a ton of fumble forces and recoveries. Our entire secondary is fine, especially with a better front seven.
    • chiefsfan3131 : I agree about Page, We need to resign him and put somebody next to him that isn't as useless as The "Bonesmoker" Pollard.

AADQ: Whitlock In Cahoots With Harm?

A week after being all up on Herm Edwards‘ jock, now Jason Whitlock calls the Chiefs bigger losers than the Detroit Lions and the worst team in franchise history, yet doesn’t offer up any criticism at all of Harm? I know he’s a likable guy and an African-American coach, but there are plenty of both of those out there who can actually coach. Off the top of my head, Lovie Smith, Mike Tomlin and Tony Dungy fit the bill, and Jim Caldwell will soon. I always though Dennis Green was a good coach as well, Arizona debacle aside. Actually, there’s certainly an argument to be made for the opinion that Harm is setting back racial progress in the NFL coaching ranks.

But I don’t think this is a racial thing. I think it’s that Jason has such a raging hard-on for getting Carl Peterson fired that he doesn’t want to direct any of his venom at anybody else. That’s just my opinion, though.

Addicts, why won’t Whitlock blast Herm Edwards?

  1. 1. Randy Says:

I dont have a clue whats going on with mngmt and ownership with the Chiefs or why Big S doesnt blast Herm thats extremely odd. I always thought that the whole mess would make a first class TV drama.

  2. 2. the hammer formerly known as g.l. Says:

With Whitlock, I think race IS the issue. He wants an African-American coach to be successful in Kansas City so badly that he can’t or won’t admit Herm’s shortcomings. Frankly, I don’t care what the race or ethnicity of the coach is as long as he can coach. Herm has a long way to go to show me much. Although progress has been made merely by allowing the offense to actually play offense, I think Herm’s tenure is still very much in doubt. Do you suppose we could get a head coach who has the Maori facial tattoos? Wouldn’t that be cool? Even though Dan Saleamua was Samoan, maybe he could get the Maori tattoos and come back as coach. Okay, now before anyone goes all ape-shit bananas on me and calls me a racist, that is just my lowly attempt at humor.

  3. 3. Adam Best Says:

Hard Knocks came at the wrong time.

  4. 4. Adam Best Says:

I don’t care either, hammer. Give me a lime green alien coach if he can win.

  5. 5. Clyde Says:

I don’t think it has anything to do with race.

Who is the one responsible for the product on the field? Who is the one responsible for the direction of the team for the last 19 years? Who is responsible for the hiring of the head coach?

  6. 6. goshootergo Says:

    cuz their both brotha’s!

  7. 7. Jeremy_Riverside_CA Says:

Trust me, Jason is not in love with Harm.

I did enjoy reading between the lines to see that Whitlock is indeed a Chiefs fan, and is tired of the losing, even though it makes his job so much easier.

    Harm Edwards Sucks.

At this point, I have to applaud Chan Gailey for his creativeness in working with what he has. The only glimmer of hope we have is that the offense is improving, and I would bet my life Harm edwards has nothing to do with the offensive improvement.

    He gets an “A”

    Harm and Gun straight “F”s.

If Clark Hunt is not going to fire Harm this offseason at least let go of Gun. Sorry to say it, but Gun is past his prime. Maybe the game has past him by.

  8. 8. Randy Says:

Yes I think its time for new blood in the coaching staff too, give Chan some more time. I dont think its race with Jason W.

  9. 9. Maine_Chief Says:

Because Herm is a good coach who fits what the team is trying to do right now - rebuild with youth.

  10. 10. Scott Says:

    Consider this:

Herm lets Chan finally do what he wants (or needs) to do on offense. Result - the offense improves immensely.

Herm continues to exert control over the defense (to what degree who knows, but you know he does) and Gun’s defense declines immensely.

    See a pattern here?

I don’t see this as Gun’s fault at all. Let him play his style of D and see what happens. Gun just doesn’t fit the style of defense Herm wants to play. Therefore there’s a clash of philosophies because two styles of players and two styles of play are being attempted at the same time for compromise, causing a break down.

Give me a game, just ONE game without Herm at the stadium. Let Chan and Gun do their thing and see what would happen. We should be so lucky…

  11. 11. Adam Best Says:

    Jeremy,

If we can bring in Cowher, then I have no problem keeping Chan around. Agree on the other two, too…

A Gun and Harm do go together well, but not in Kansas City!

  12. 12. Randy Says:

I actually think Herm might see some success at the college level Ive always thought that. That age group thrives more on the touchy feely stuff.

  13. 13. Randy Says:

You have to be able to develop players at the college level and I think Herm could do that maybe. Anyway time to see if Im right go get a college gig Herm.

  14. 14. Eric Crane Says:

    I second what Scott said.

We went to a spread out of necessity- everyone here knows we aren’t playing Hermball right now; which is why we have been competitive in these games.
    Make that Harmball.
We can’t run the ball at all, so we were forced to do something different. If you have watched one game this year, you don’t see Harm calling plays or even coaching for that matter, all he does is look up at the replays (which is a waste of time…whats done is done unless a challenge is imminent).
This tells me Chan is mostly responsible for the offense improving and Harm is responsible for well, the harm that has been done already- the early blowouts, the running the ball 3 times up the butt and punt, Brokie, the recession etc.

  15. 15. Randy Says:

That was one hell of a scoop on Ms Stewart Crane.

  16. 16. Eric Crane Says:

Thanks Randy-glad you noticed. You sure know how to make a gal blush!

  17. 17. Randy Says:

I sleepily clicked on article, then I was like (surf surf surf) thats not anywhere else….then I was like THATS NOT ANYWHERE ELSE!!! Seriously thats professional stuff some major sites linked that. Anyway you know all that good stuff buddy made me proud.

  18. 18. Eric Crane Says:

Yep, we break news at ArrowheadAddict Randy. I did a little poking around and verified it my own way, and went with it. The only reason it blew up like it did the next day was because Adam and I gave a heads up to several sites. Next time we might wait a tic before blowing our horn. But you’re right, you saw it here first!

  19. 19. Randy Says:

Cant wait for next time that was awesome.

  20. 20. 2383 Says:

Being unbias, i’d still say the chiefs are currently better than the raiders, bengals, lions, rams, seahawks, and 49ers. Not to mention that if thigpen keeps doing what he’s doing, and the defence gets healthy, i think the chiefs have to be considered in the top half of the league potential wise. Kinda surprised anyone is bashing the chiefs right now. I think that window closed four weeks ago. Sure herm is still an idiot, but aside from that we are definately on an upswing.

  21. 21. pantherhare Says:

Whitlock is many things, but he is not a homer, especially when it comes to people that are the same color as him. He’s been blasted as a sell-out for being TOO critical of his own race (he was fired from ESPN for criticizing another black writer). People like to say he brings race up too much, and that is certainly open for debate, but to say that he won’t criticize someone because they’re black is entirely off base.
