Look at this way - if the Chiefs continue to play the way they have the last couple of weeks and somehow manage to pull off an upset this Sunday how can you not like their chances for the 7 games that follow? The remaining home games would be New Orleans, Buffalo, San Diego, and Miami. The remaining road games would be Oakland, Denver, and Cincinnati.

Considering what it would take to do it and where they would be coming from in accomplishing it, there is absolutely no conceivable way that making the playoffs this season should ever result in an "inferiority" complex. If they play well enough to make the playoffs, there will be probably be only 2, maybe 3 teams strong enough (teams they may very likely have already faced earlier in the season) at that point to derail the confidence that would have been built by a string successive wins coming over the last half of the season. And don't forget a lot can (and will) change in the NFL over the course of the final eight weeks.

I think when you are playing football you play to win as many games as you can and go as far as you can go. That being said I dont think not making the playoffs would be a bad thing, I honestly think we would get our hats (helmets) handed to us. That doesnt develop maturity and confidence but inferiority complexes.

Who, outside of maybe Tennessee, is really all that dominant in the AFC this year? Yeah, I thought so.

If the Chiefs somehow play well enough down the stretch to win the division then I like their chances about as much as anybody's in this conference. Say what you will about Herm, the fact remains that he has managed to win a couple of playoff games with teams that nobody expected to be in contention. In fact, I can't think of any Chiefs' coaches in recent memory who have managed to do as much even with supposedly much better teams than Herm has had to work with.

Draft schmaft. Getting into the playoffs would do far more for the development, maturity, and confidence of this team than any yet-to-be-proven college prospect.

Do I think it is very likely to happen? Not really - I expect San Diego to make one final, desperate run this season before they fade into the obscurity for which AJ and Norv are now laying the foundation.

I agree I dont think Im up for the kick in the ocho cinco's the post season would surely bring. Not the time to get in the ring with the heavyweights yet.

Good stuff, DD. Personally, I'm glad we aren't in position to win the division. That playoff birth would be a road trip to the slaughterhouse and we wouldn't get a good pick. Let the Donks (who I hate more than the Raiders...easily) or the Bolts take that trip.
