I dont trust Thiggy Smalls, the Notorious Thee Eye Gee. I learned a lesson from the Broncos game. We have the players in place I think but inconsistency is the word when it comes to rebuilding.

Ha...thanks...I was surprised no one had caught it earlier...

Wow...I have been known to take some gambles in Fantasy Football (last year Anderson, this year Warner) but Thigpen...wow...

Culpepper is a no go Randy...sorry...

Sign Culpepper, keep Tony and straighten LJ out and we have a team I want to watch

Woody, Sudden, I totally missed that Princess Bride reference. Inconceivable!!!

Sudden, I also always recall you being a pretty staunch supporter of Thiggy Smalls, but starting him in fantasy? You got some set on you, man. Congrats.

"Jump to conclusions mat" LOL

Great work, Adam.

There only thing Eric Warfield covered well while in Kansas City was the nightclubs. We saw this dude out last September and he said he was going to still play for New England that Monday when we saw him out late (like closing time) on a Saturday night at Blonde. That dude was worthless.

At least our defense was feared. I don't like warfield either but I never liked Pat Surtain either.

We're gonna need help/depth at OLB too. I like DeMorrio okay but Donnie's starting to fade - wouldn't be too surprised if this was his last season.

Could do without the comparisons to Warfield. Warfield was horrid. Don't need that again.

Also how true is the comment :

I was at the game yesterday. I am also a loooong time Jet season ticket holder. The Chiefs outplayed the Jets yesterday. Their defensive line put pressure on Farve. The DB'S played the receivers tight. Farve was out of sync all day....but then "their was Herm": with 5 minutes to go and the Jets unable to stop Thigpen on the roll-out, Herm
ran the ball 3 STRAIGHT TIMES!! ALSO, when Herm went to the Chiefs, we got a 4th round draft pick who turned out to be Leon Washington!! thank you, Herm!!!
Here's the link : http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afcwest/0-3-588/Favre-g...

The Chiefs main emphasis in the draft to me should be focused on the linebacking corps with slight emphasis on the D-line and a OT. G - I believe this may very well be Brian Waters last year or next year to be his last. We need a guard as well. Our d-line hasn't completely developed. Even Hali is only in his 3rd year at DE. So Selvie is a very good pick.

QB - We should have a better idea toward week 12 or 13 on where we go from here.
RB - I like Smith and Charles but I think LJ still can be our franchise back. Keep LJ. I wouldn't use a draft pick at RB.
FB - I love Cox, reminds me of Tony Rich. I'd like to see more bootlegs to him.
WR - We are close to having a solid receiving core. Weed out Darling and find that 3/4 receiver. Franklin will develop
TE - Cottam is a prototypical tight end but is he durable? I look at picking up a tight end somewhere during day 2 of the draft.
OL - Taylor looked good this week, Albert is "who we thought he is", Rudy is getting better every week, Waters looks good but he is slowing down. I'd say a guard and tackle, guard via free agency and tackle via the draft. I'd pick about any linemen from TXTech to be honest.
DL - We need to find a hybrid player like Demarcus Ware i think someone who can play DE and OLB. Selvie does look like that play D. Also we need a big DT like Terrance Cody.
MLB - We need a MLB. I don't care where we find one but this position has to be taken care of. Serioulsy Nap Harris and now Pat Thomas.
Secondary - I absolutely love this secondary. Reminds me of the 98 Chiefs Secondary. Warfield, Mcmillan, Woods, Reggie Tongue, Dale Carter and James Hasty. Give them until next year and they will be a perfect fit.

marcus,
How about DE/OLB George Selvie out of S Fl? Takes over games, reminds me of #58. With Tamba back at LDE (where he belongs) we may very well be lookin at drafting a dominant RDE early on.

Why even mess with Culpepper? What possible good would an aging, immobile pocket passer do us? Been there, done that.

Woody, I'm loving the Princess Bride reference.

I must say that I feel vindicated by the performance of Thiggy. In a desperate scramble to cover for Jay Cutler's bye week, I picked up and started Thiggy. That's right: I rolled the dice on Bones in a fantasy football league and he got me 21 points. I had been saying since the preseason that I felt he had a Romo-esque potential, a good arm and the mobility that any QB behind our O-Line needs. He impressed and would have won the game if he didn't have to play against the Jets and the Zebras (the OPI on Gonzo was one of the worst calls I've seen all season and the no-call on our fourth and 2 was unforgivable).

Herm's "we have a lead, let's run three times and punt" mentality at the end sickens me. I think the universal feeling among the Chiefs faithful is that the first two runs were alright (we do wanna run the clock out with a lead because we can't trust our D to stop anyone), but the third down and 2 should have been a PA bootleg. Thiggy can outrun a DE/OLB and get two. We do that, we have the win.

Why the media rides the Favre jock so much I have no clue. He made some piss poor decisions that almost gave us the game. I'll credit Flowers for the pick+6, that was a good play by the rookie, but the other pick was a gift from 4 to 24. Favre missed a wide open Thomas Jones in the flat on a third and 3 and forced the ball 20 yards downfield into double coverage. Adam, you're absolutely right about Mangina. I do not know why anyone would ever attempt a pass against our D when you can run it right at Pat Thomas every play and never even have to worry about a third down.

I personally am kind of hoping they hold off one more week before making a decision on Culpepper. IF Thiggy plays somewhere close to the level he did this week, I say we don't sign Culpepper. If Thiggy is for real, our situation all of a sudden looks completely different. We could go into training camp '09 with Thiggy/Croyle/Gray/Drafted Guy and or another FA with upside such as Losman. Let the four prospects battle it out, and the bottom man gets the boot. I don't want to use Culpepper as anything besides a band-aid. If one of our own is capable of getting the job done, keep D.C. away(I can't stand the guy, I live in Viking country).

Tyler Thigpen looked like him and Tony Romo are cut from the same cloth. Mark Bradley was a PIMP. I still don't feel good with Devard Darling being our number 2. I think he is worried about taking the big hit. I'm real excited to see Will Franklin bust out. The real question is how good is Brandon Flowers, he made Brett Favre look like Ryan Leaf. I guess Tampa Bay will be our real test for everyone as a team. Daunte Culpepper is coming in today to work out with the Chiefs, with the possibility of next year having Gray, Thiggy, Culpepper, and Croyle at QB, would we go try our luck in the draft especially if Thiggy becomes what he was yesterday?

Draft Picks:
1) DE/MLB/OG/OT/DT/S/WR
(Could we use a 1st round pick on that Cody out of Bama?)

Now that I've gotten used to 'em, vlogs are primarily just going to be for pre- and post-game reports and breaking news. These post-game ones will probably be long, though. I can ramble after a game forever :)

Absolutely...The biggest arguement I have been making in all these blogs since the game is like yours, that our coaching staff fell victim to one of the classic blunders...The first, obviously, is never get involved in a land war in Asia....But only slightly less well known is STICK WITH WHAT IS WORKING ON OFFENSE! We regressed to Herm ball...and it lost it for us...

You mentioned, Dave, that some people made strides today...I agree completely and want to elaborate:

-Brad Cottam was a beast in the 2nd Quarter. He ran great routes and had amazing hands, i was pleased

-Mark Bradley, Holy Jerry Angelo Batman, what in the hell was Chicago of all teams thinking when they released this guy. I am not saying he is our answer for our number 2 guy, but he would dominate the slot along with Franklin

-Thiggy Smalls was smart, fast and indiscriminate in his slingin around the ball. I watched the game alone (deliberately, i cant stand people around during games)and said audibly many times "oh...my...goodness" it was that impressive

-The Brandons. Our corners are going to kick ass. That is not overstatement at all. 7 games into their careers and they play like that...wow

I would agree with you also, Dave that Charles stays healthy, we win...I would also obviously say, LJ plays, we win...but such talk is folly...

The refs were silly...that is all that needs to be said...i think

Good job Best...Longest damned Vlog ive witnessed...but good...sorry to see your hat missing

Thanks, Dakota Dave, and solid points by you as well!

Nice work Adam. I've got to admit, I agree with pretty much everything you had to say today. You are a little less pesimistic on you vlogs than on your written posts. I like that.

I believe we would have won this game had J Charles not gotten hurt. This was by far his best showing. He is going to be fun to watch.

There were about four or five guys that made huge strides today. I am really exited about Bradley.

Things I will be watching for next week: 1)How will Thiggy follow up a really impressive performance? 2)Did the o-line really take a step forward, or will they crumble again when they face a more powerfull pass rush? 3)Will we continue to run a multidimentional offense now that we have shown that our guys are able to open it up? 4)Will our coaching staff learn from their own mistakes? Herm has to know that the run-run-run at the end probably cost us the game.

Keep smiling Chiefs fans! There is hope. I gaurantee we will have some more very painfull weeks in the near future, but there is hope.
