Black & Teal On Quinn Gray

by NFL

Jeanne, FSB’s awesome Jaguars blogger over at Black & Teal, was nice enough to give us a little insight on Chiefs new QB Quinn Gray.

I am so happy that Quinn Gray found a place! He was a really reliable backup and the reason the Jaguars let him go, from my understanding, is that he wanted to see if he could find a starting spot somewhere else. That may be code for ‘he wanted more money’ but we signed Cleo Lemon after he left for a nice sum so I doubt that was it.

Quinn Gray was the star of NFL Europe. He led the Frankfurt Galaxy to a win in World Bowl XI back in 2003 before coming back to the Jaguars. He is a Florida guy through and through, born here, played his college ball here and then played for the Jaguars. That’s a good thing. Florida has an amazing wealth of football players. His touchdown to interception ratio is great at 12:5. Quinn Gray helped hold the team together after Garrard went down last year. I don’t think he’ll do you guys wrong.

PS: You can’t blame Quinn for the two losses when he started. One of the games he ‘started’ in was the game Garrard went down. Against the Colts. The team had trouble adjusting. The other game was against the Saints and Brees threw for almost 400 yards or something similarly ridiculous. Gray did all he could but it is hard to win when your defense is asleep. :)

Her thoughts definitely don’t make me feel any worse. Back later with more, but until then check out Arrowhead Pride‘s excellent post on Gray.

i'll admit that didnt like gray after the PS because i actually watched the game against buffalo, 1 td 4 int's, but now i'm glad we brought in a guy who can actually play. so sorry xxxlp

i'm so excited about signing Gray. as a chiefs fan who lives in jacksonville, ive been wanting KC to pick him up ever since he was let go. the article i read said chiefs signed him to a 2 year deal, which looks to me that hes our fix for now and they plan on drafting a QB this upcoming draft with a year to develop under Gray. watching the jags games he played in, they never really missed a beat, it was as if he was the starter. i still cant believe the chiefs signed him, someone pinch me because i must be dreaming. thank you carl, thats probably the only time i'll say that again. haha

Glad to see Gray come aboard. Hope he will live up to our expectations. xxxlp I recall backing you up with his preseason numbers when you were getting blasted for liking him. I always thought he was ok, and with all our qb problems he is looking way better than what else we have. Well we really haven't seen anything from Martin; but that tells us something also. anyway I hope he turns out to be our qb for this season and a few more. I feel like at least with him in the game we have a chance to score some points. And this season we all need something to pin our hopes on...........so comeon Gray hurry and get in the game....

Go Chiefs!!

I know I certainly didn't, xxxlp. I've always been at least a moderate fan of Gray--I just preferred Simms and Leftwich. I do recall you catching some flak, though.

When I wanted Quinn Gray back in the off-season/pre-season, I got called out for being idiotic.. Now that the Chiefs actually do pick up Quinn, nobody has a bad word to say about this? Amazing.

Well this may be common knowledge at this point but they reported on NFLN that KC put both Croyle AND Huard on IR...so now we are Thigpen, Martin and Gray...Who would have ever seen this coming...honestly...

With that said, I like the Gray addition...The system he last played in (Jags not Colts) sets the high priority on ball control and I think he will bring that over...I think he starts in the next 2-3 weeks...and holds it as long as he is healthy

I think having Gray come in is finally a smart choice for once this year when it comes to the Qb. I also belive we should have Chris Sims come in. I would like to see (some) competition at the Qb spot. I just don't see Pigpen doing anything for this team but hand out some H2O. I've said this from the begining of the year.

This guy needs to start in three (3) weeks.

Thigpen has no accuracy. I have never seen someone so bad with his accuracy (well, maybe Jamarcus Russel and M. Vick). Thigpen is not our future and Huard is not either. Get Quinn started, and lets see what he can do.

I thought he also tried to get on with Dallas a couple of years ago? He might work out, but who knows. I would rather have someone who has won than pigpen, huard and brokie. Only time will tell.
