You can find Larry Johnson’s apology to the Chiefs and their fans over at The K.C. Star, but what might be even more interesting is this anonymous comment response (hat tip: Crane):
On reread I noice a trend:
This what I find troubling about the statements:
1. “the truth will come to light”= I didn’t do anything as far as your concerned.
2. ” *anticipate* seeking help” = I won’t until they make me.
3. “where things don’t come out favorably to me” = I was unlucky and catched trouble with the Pol-lease.
4. “as a man everyone makes mistakes”= Stuff happens, its not my fault.
5. “look for the light and that?s what I **plan** on doing= I’m not looking for the light now “regardless of what suspensions and fines are being handed down”.
6. “take them as sincerely as they give them out”=nothing too serious is going to happen, so I’m not too worried about it.

Wow, it must be amazing to know what other people are really thinking. Too bad this guy didn’t at least leave his e-mail so I could figure out what my wife is thinking once in a while.
Seriously though, I don’t condone anything LJ has done, but it sounds like he may have finally realized that more times than not, he is the a-hole in the room.
It is nobody’s buisness to say he wasn’t sincere, but now he has to prove himself. First he has to take whatever suspension is coming. Second he has to quit drinking…period. It seems to be the common denominator. I’m all for giving him the chance. Unlike Jared Allen, we’ve already paid the guy. Although Jared already cleaned himself up.
Okay, I seldom chime in ever since I let my own blog go… I couldn’t stand the pathetic trash coming from Arrowhead.
-Reason for LJ’s suspension… The Chiefs Want To Trade LJ
1. He is going to have a LOW production season… they need an excuse for him so they can still get their high draft picks in another blockbuster trade. Since he is going to have been suspended for some games, his production is down naturally instead of the team quitting.
2. Why the low production? Herm Edwards obviously is not in jeopardy of losing his job. He has snowed Clark Hunt into believing in him even after CP goes. So Herm is angling for a top 3 (or number 1) pick in the draft. He doesn’t WANT to win. This is the conspiracy in the front office. Keep acting like you’re trying, lose out… trade LJ… get a few more good picks and then jump back on the winning wagon later. (If all happens like they plan and their coach doesn’t become a pumpkin again.)
——-
Signs that Herm and Carl want the Draft pick and not a few wins this season…
– Why did they sign Martin and Quinn as their QBs? Neither will be a long term Chief and they will be searching for a real QB after this season. The reason they don’t take Culpepper is because he is savvy enough to make them better right away. If they sign a couple nothings they still have the excuse of playing Thigpen another week as the nothings learn the system.
– There was actually no real “TRY” at their slash player attempt. They try it 5 times in one game and then next week the guy is cut. Can we say…. only word I can think of is dumb?
– They knew 3 years ago the Offensive Line was a problem. Are you serious? You can’t fix a line in 3 years? When you get it fixed is Albert going to be in his last few seasons?
– I think it’s funny we continue with our Linemen, Linebackers, and Quarterbacks but they fire kickers every year like Herm gets a buzz from it. It’s time for his “Fire the kicker” fix. I guess Adam Sandler was wrong, the Lonesome kicker is from KC. We don’t have kickoff specialists, we have scape goat specialists.
One last thought…
Keep your criticism of Gunther to a minimum. He is running a defense that is lacking and opposite of his own system. Gunther’s defenses were always really good. Now that he is in the Tampa Two, the defense sucks. Remember, Colts defense sucked for a long time too. I wish Herm wanted to be a good coach instead of wanting to be a mirror image of Dungy.
We don’t need a Marty or a Cowher, we need someone like a Jon Gruden. A young, in touch with reality, and tough coach who will go for it on 4th and 20 if it gives him a chance to win. He will certainly kick an onside kick when it could pull out a miracle comeback. Herm is a KICK IT DEEP WE SUCK ANYWAY type of coach.
I’m all about admitting I’m wrong (i.e. Matt Ryan), so I’m temporarily going to issue a LJ a pardon. I like the fact that he made his statement without notes. That’s a big deal to me. BUT this is the last chance. Next time, he’s done. Get rid of him. He’s trash.
Rdscott – one of the many problems with your conspiracy theory is your assumption that anyone would deliberately lose in order to land a top 5 pick. No team in its right mind seeks to be in that group because those picks are both expensive and risky which it makes it nearly impossible to trade down for additional picks. Big name college standouts are the ones most likely to turn into big time rookie holdouts. Value and extra picks win out just about every time.
I realize that. I’m talking about Herm and Carl wanting the first or second pick. That doesn’t mean they will take it. A second coming of a mixture of Brady, Montana, Aikmen and Marino could be sitting at spot number 2 and Carl will trade down and let someone else have him for a shot at a few more busts in his drafting resume. They are wanting to lose out, get the highest pick possible and then trade it out for more picks.
If this is not the case I am totally amazed because this is the most pathetic ball club I have ever seen. The raiders and lions have been pitiful but at least they are acting on the horribleness and trying to find someone with the right fit. I think we should kick Herm aside and hire Kifflin who had the faiders on the right track before the psycho star wanted the spotlight again.
There is nobody in this upcoming draft class that can be considered anything close to being “a mixture of Brady, Montana, Aikmen, and[/or] Marino.” Besides, say what you will about him, Carl Peterson has been at this long enough to know that trading down out the top 5 is near impossible. If we do end up picking in the top 5, the best picks available will most likely be defensive guys – MLB, OLB, or DE.
Thanks but no thanks to Kiffin – he was in over his head regardless of who he was working for.
