AADQ: Your State Of Chiefs Nation Address
Every year I deliver my State of Chiefs Nation Address following the Chiefs’ bye week. That’s going to drop later today, but for now…
Addicts, let’s hear your State of Chiefs Nation Addresses (not really a question, but we can bend the rules every now and then)…

GO CHIEFS!!
October 15th, 2008 at 1:01 amThis year has been rough for everybody involved, is the point that should be made. It is not as if Carl is sitting in his sweet office and petting his cat in an evil-like, enjoying this miserable state. We all are depressed and lost without our Chiefs performing up to par. But the thing to remember is that there is a plan. Let’s not forget the progress that is evident in our team’s young players. There is talent there but the thing we need now is for them all to play well and play together. Obviously there are some elements that are still missing from the team We still need a reliable pass-rush that left with Jared. We still need a solid, young middle linebacker who can blow up lead blockers. But the biggest thing we need is time and experience. We need this both to know what we have in some of our positions, and to let those others develop into the reliable players they will be. Take heart Chiefs fans…the future is here…just give it time…
October 15th, 2008 at 1:24 amnicely said i feel a tad bit better then i see the titans coming to town…and were 1-4 lol jk nicely put man! but carl and herm needs to go!!
GO CHIEFS!
October 15th, 2008 at 1:28 amEveryone needs to check out msn.com right now..Apparently Tony is pretty pissed off about this whole thing..Obviously Tony doesn’t have a whole lot of respect for the coaching staff right now..

October 15th, 2008 at 3:06 amWoody - Jared Allen aka “old reliable” has a mere 3 sacks this year. Right now, I’d have to say CP and the Chiefs are looking pretty smart on that deal.
Sandya - Why would Tony not have respect for the coaching staff? What did they have to do with him not getting his wish granted? I didn’t get that at all from Glazer’s article.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:51 amState of the Nation:
October 15th, 2008 at 10:18 amWe are 1-4. Not only do we need to learn how to just win games on a consistent basis, but perhaps more importantly, to learn how to keep competing when you get behind.
We lack an MLB that has the ability to contain the run, contain the QB, and protect the middle against the pass.
We have so lacked consistency and stability at QB which in turn has contributed to consistency and stability along the offensive line.
The development of the right side of the offensive line has been a disappointment.
The Tony Gonzalez situation comes at a time when distraction is the last thing this team needs.
The defensive secondary has played about as well as could be expected.
The play of Derrick Johnson has shown promise at times but on the whole has been more disappointing than anticipated.
The play of the defensive line has been slow to develop and more than anything needs to improve its ability to apply pressure to the QB.
The defense as a whole has shown itself to be very aggressive at attacking the ball - this needs to continue.
Dwayne Bowe and Tony Gonzolez have been the dominant receivers; there needs to be more focus on spreading the ball around.
Our running game has been up and down - more consistency is needed. Less predictable playcalling on first down should help on that front.
Special teams play has shown improvement as the season has progressed particularly in the return game since Charles and Savage have become the primary returners.
Much like last year, injuries have yet again plagued this team’s ability to draw upon its most talented players/prospects and hindered the development of its future prospects.
Goals for the remainder of this season include winning enough games to avoid drafting in the top five, developing a winning attitude, winning at least one game which requires us to come from behind to do so, providing better protection for the QB and better running lanes, bringing more pressure on opposing quarterbacks, and expanding the playbook.
The one thing that stood out to me from this article:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3643485&
campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines
“Been watching Tennessee,” he said. “Got enough problems trying to figure out how to make a first down against Tennessee.”
When our focus is on getting “A” first down, we are in for a long Sunday. Is this what it has devolved into.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:24 amI think thats a very appropriate reaction from Tony. He is now back in my good graces. Im DEFINITLY wearing my 88 shirt to the game Sunday.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:46 amMy fellow grand illustrious members of the nation of Chiefs: Regarding the state of our nation……
SUX!
Thank you for your support. The “official” Hammer
October 15th, 2008 at 2:06 pmThe Chiefs need to do what bill Parcels just did to Miami. Completely blow the team up and rebuild through the draft. Trading Jared Allen for some picks was a good start. If they could have moved Gonzalez and LJ for more picks, I would have been all for it.
October 15th, 2008 at 2:48 pmI applaud Carl Petersen for holding on to Gonzo if he could not get a second rounder.
Tony is a god, and the only weapon we have. Draft picks are like mail order brides. They look good until you get them home. Then, you never know….
So stop all the bitchen!!!!! We owe Tony nothing. I love Tony, and he has gotten paid. Don’t you think every player wants to play for a contender?!!!!!!
All of you would be complaining right now if tony was traded for less than a third…. You know its true.
P.S. I am not a Carl lover and would like to see the whole administration and coaching staff gone this year.
GO CHIEFS!!!!!! Watch Tony light it up this week!!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 3:38 pmI still cant decide if I want to wear 88 to the game Sunday.
October 15th, 2008 at 4:52 pmWear 88 proud my man!!!!! tony G will get over it.
October 15th, 2008 at 5:23 pmMy friends-
Its time for Change.
The Chiefs are broken.
I’m Eric Crane and I approved this message.
October 15th, 2008 at 6:44 pmTrying to get a vote, Crane??
Well… I know who NEEDS a vote… Our Chiefs… Granted its been hard to see bright spots this year, but we still should support our boys by rallying to try to send them to the Pro-Bowl. Larry is STILL the AFC’s #1 rusher (even with a 2 yard game and a bye week), 8th in the whole league. Tony Gonzalez did a lot of good for himself this season. Dustin is great as always, And we got some other players that I’d love to see get voted in. So lets vote, guys.
Larry Johnson
Tony Gonzalez
Dustin Colquitt
… at least those 3.
October 15th, 2008 at 7:30 pmGuys what Mike Florio is reporting that Carl pulled the plug on the Packers deal 10 minutes before the deadline for Tony, changing his mind from a third round to second round pick, Carl is out of control he has got to go this guys insane.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:55 pmYou know I thought about all this last night, this kind of smacks of cold feet on Tonys part too. If he and Carl are this close, I think that Tony got cold toes possibly also promting Carl to do that. Tony is a multi millionaire but is just a 2 year old who has lived in KC his entire adult life , he is just like all of us other guys who dont want to move for the company either.
