    • Adam : Macho Man...oh NO!
    • Randy5k : Savage is gone
    • GoShooterGo : Savage Sucked anyway!
    • Randy5k : I hope it includes all that
    • mushin : Well Savage has been released. I was really rooting for the guy, but if you can't cut it, you gots to go. That includes everyone from the GM to the flippin towel boy after this season
    • Randy5k : how long before he is suspended
    • Randy5k : Well Jared cant peform up to expectations for the Vikes so now he turns to dirty play
    • Adam : Do you ever really want to be complacent in your failures?
    • Randy5k : entering.........R....E.......M stag-es
    • Randy5k : yawn.........slowly entering REM stages
    • Randy5k : I have to say Ive been disappointed in some of the players refusal to accept rsponsibility this year too
    • Randy5k : Yeah but he makes you feel good about your failures!!!!
    • Adam : I don't know...he's the only player's coach I've ever seen who doesn't put any of the blame on his own shoulders. No accountability.
    • Randy5k : he is a terrible game day coach! If you are a player and you got your girl pregnant or you are feeling a little down he is the coach you need.
    • kcchiefsfan56 : with herm it comes down to one thing...he cant gameplan he cant matchup with bellichek and dungy's of the nfl
    • Randy5k : uh huh
    • Adam : Could be.
    • Randy5k : I think he did that with both LJ and Curtis Martin
    • Randy5k : I have to say if I was a RB I wouldnt want to play for Herm he runs you into the ground
    • Adam : knew
    • Adam : Probably right on L.J., but the problem was that the Saints new what was coming by the way we were lined up. That is why the Thiggy draw on that mid-field third and short worked. And what about the Wildcat down on the GL? Maybe even have Larry throw there. It worked so well, why not keep running it until they stop it?
    • Sudden : wouldve cracked it at some point
    • Sudden : and although I agree with most of your observations on LJ (he did block pretty well), I still think we could've and should've just pounded him into that line four times if need be
    • Sudden : I like the idea of running a five wide spread draw with Thiggy when its inside the five
    • Adam : draw
    • Adam : Maybe, but the challenge there was idiotic. Almost as dumb as running L.J. again. Why not boot or drwa with Tyler (or even sneak)?
    • Sudden : I'm still pissed about that LJ TD call. That looked in as clear as day on the replay
    • Adam : I suspect a new coach would take notice of Tyler's strengths and take them into consideration when hiring staff and designing an offense, too.
    • Adam : I thought L.J. played his heart out today. Even blocked well. His ballhandling was sloppy, but he's been idle for a month.
    • Dwaynebowefan82 : Is it me is does it seem like LJ isnt even trying?
    • kcchiefsfan56 : yea but if we bring in a new coach he'll hire his own D and O Corrdinators and most likely switch back to the prototypical nfl offense and i dont think thigpen can suceed in that offense
    • Adam : Not a new coach means everybody WILL struggle. Hate to come out and say that, but deep down we all know it's true.
    • kcchiefsfan56 : yea but a new coach means new philosphy and new philoshpy means tyler could struggle
    • Adam : Well, yes...and no. We're going to need a great draft pick...and a new coach. Plus, Tyler played well.
    • kcchiefsfan56 : wow wat a bummer huh guys?

Are The Chiefs The No. 1 Pick Frontrunners?

FOX Sports‘ Alex Marvez thinks so. I’m not so sure that I disagree with his assessment either. The Chiefs are definitely going to pick in the top five of the 2009 NFL Draft, especially if Tony Gonzalez rolls out. It could all come down to that late-season game in Cincy. Yes, the Bengals are also that bad.

1. KANSAS CITY (1-4)

Remaining strength of schedule: 32-29 (.525 winning percentage). None of Kansas City’s next six opponents has a losing record.

Reason for optimism: Chiefs coach Herm Edwards is known as a great motivator, which means he should at least get inspired play out of a roster featuring 33 players with three years or less of NFL experience. Quarterback Brodie Croyle (shoulder) is expected to return Sunday against Tennessee after missing the past four games.

Reason for pessimism: Croyle has lost all seven of his NFL starts and will have even less to work with offensively if his top receiving target — tight end Tony Gonzalez — is dealt before the NFL’s trade deadline. Kansas City’s defensive line is a mess. The Chiefs rank last in the league in sacks (3) and run defense (182.2-yard average).

And the Chiefs select: Louisiana State defensive end Tyson Jackson. The Chiefs need more offensive firepower but there may not be a skill-position player worth selecting in the top five. The 6-foot-5, 291-pound Jackson is an outstanding all-around player who can fill the void created by April’s trade of Pro Bowl end Jared Allen to Minnesota. Jackson and Chiefs 2008 first-round pick Glenn Dorsey also were teammates on LSU’s national championship team last season.

Which first-round pick will the Chiefs end up with in next April’s draft?

  1. 1. Double D Says:

Rey Mauluga makes the most sense to me. Our DL is still pretty young - in other words, I think there’s still plenty of time of for that front four to develop into a pretty solid unit - especially with some quality help from the mike. Another strong possibility would be OT Oher although I can’t really see spending top 5 LT money for a RT/OG especially when you’ve already got a really good young @ LT.

  2. 2. Double D Says:

George Selvie out of S Florida is another guy that interests me a lot. He flat out can take control of a game - reminds me some of DT. Way too early to start worrying about all this right now though.

  3. 3. the hammer formerly known as g.l. Says:

Yep, the Chiefs are in the Detroit Lions mode, now. High draft choices who disappear in the black abyss never to be seen or heard from again.

  4. 4. CBaller13 Says:

Michael Oher or Rey Mauluga. Selvie is good too

  5. 5. BucktheFroncos Says:

Selvie is a demon on the field. He seriously looks like he’s playing against J.V. opponents. I haven’t seen enough of him to see what his weakness’s are but what I’ve watched has been impressive to say the least. Of course I would be hard pressed to pass on Rey Maul who could be a bigger Troy Palamua (or however it’s spelled). And how is it to early to be talking about this. We have nothing else to discuss that is positive. I for one welcome a little open debate on how best to spend the only fruits of our dismal season.

  6. 6. coachstram Says:

You guys cant be serious…..if this team doesnt A) swing a deal or sign a FA QB or B) draft a QB, im officially “Anti-Carl”. We all knew this would be a long season and would have to hold our noses and swallow. But even patience and life long loyalty will only go so far….

Croyle and David Jaynes may be the same person.

  7. 7. Double D Says:

coach - name one QB in this upcoming draft you consider worthy of a top 5 pick much less going on day one. I’m up for a good laugh today.

  8. 8. Vrod74-MikeSD Says:

You guys do realize that in order for us to be #1 pick “hopefulls”, both Detroit AND Cinncinnati have to win at least one game.

  9. 9. Vrod74-MikeSD Says:

And I personally think we could get lucky and MAYBE end up with the same record as last year. We just need another three games like the Denver game.

  10. 10. Eric Crane Says:

I think we should organize a stadium “empty-out” lets show up for the tailgate and not go into the game.

  11. 11. Double D Says:

In response to the question posed by the title of this post - I truly hope not. If I had to pick would much rather be in slots 6 through 15 than 1 through 5. The latter scenario is too limiting, too expensive & too risky.

  12. 12. d2gogetit Says:

CHASE THE LEADER DANIELS RIGHT HERE IN FRONT OF US. Im tired of hearing hes to short. Him a better line and one wide reciever = playoff win for tony

  13. 13. Adam Best Says:

How about Chase getting a win over OSU first before we crown his ass?

  14. 14. d2gogetit Says:

Oh I forgot eveyone is Brodie Fans here, reminds me of BILL Kinney remember the 80s, Atleast Chase acts likes a leader instead of looking like bubba gump standing on the sidlines with a broken nail or whatever it will be next week. Id rather take my chances with chase than with brodie who has brodie beaten NO ONE.

  15. 15. coachstram Says:

Fair enough Double D, but way to early to make a claim now. Daniel, Tebow come to mind. Time to deal LJ, for picks or a QB.

Totally agree with your post ( #11).

BTW, how do I upload something to fill the empty icon field?

  16. 16. Double D Says:

coach - You have to set it up on gravatar.com. For some reason, I can no longer view anyone’s avatar - not even sure what mine is showing these days? Should be a red & gold “DD” a la DareDevil. Is that what you see?

No thanks to Daniel btw. At least not before the 3rd round. Too short & doesn’t deal well with pressure as was clearly exposed in the OSU game. Tebow - spread offense, rushing QB yeah, NFL not so much. I’d consider Josh Freeman as a later round development prospect maybe. There’s a few others I consider to be in that same category at this point.

Personally, I’d wait a year or two on drafting QB. Bradford’s the kid I really like and as a rSO, I kind of doubt he’ll come out this year.
