Agreed on Tony. He is ours. He is the number one hero we have in a Chiefs uniform. He IS the best teacher and mentor for ALL of the rookies, not just the receiving corps.

I want him to win in the playoffs and get a SB ring in respect to him, but it better be as a Chief! I would get sick to my stomach seeing him take any other team to the SB, while we are building up to get there. He can coach, be our hero, and be the proud face of our organization for a few more years. So what if he starts to decline, he can still be productive. He will retire when he wants to, but in 2 or 3 years, we will be just as strong and contending for the title as any team. If he goes anywhere else for any reason, it would harm the team and face of the franchise for a long time, in my mind.

What do you all think about Bill Stewart from West Virginia for head coach? He may suck as coach but at least we could hear more lines like oxygen is for astronauts not football players.

While Im on my soapbox, letting Tony G go to a better team is exactly what the chiefs do not need, and sending him from a team whose fans adore him to a team whose fans can probably take him or leave him. Is that what he really wants? And while we are at it why doesnt my employer send me to a company that will hire me to search the world for the finest wines, the tastiest steaks, and the most beautiful and accomodating women and then write a book about it? Ive been with them twenty years, they owe it to me! Of course their position is we paid you all that money for twenty years now we need your experience to train the new hires.

Come on guys, we are so far under the salary cap we could fund another complete team. Why not trim some of the players who are not performing and hire some older experienced guys to get us some wins and share their experience with the youth movement. At least one good free agent quarterback. Two preferably. There are plenty out there and plenty sitting behind a better first string qb. Not only is having 100% youth on your team painful the first couple of years of a rebuilding program, its not necessary and wont work, you need mentors.

I have to agree with Double D on this one. We all heard the comments at the beginning of the year, so should have expected what we are seeing. The issue is, who is still willing to wait it out. I believe we should do all we can to be positive and build the players up, not negative and help tear down an already struggling organization. That won't help anyone. The constant calls for boycott and firings will not make the team any better this year.

There will be no firings this season. I do imagine that Clark H will stand by his statement at the beginning of the calendar year, when he said something like, the team better show improvement and he wants to go to the playoffs. If we win 4 or less, then I believe he will make the necessary changes.

Otherwise, we are what we are. I don't understand what is happening and why certain players are not moved or brought in, but I do know that the talent on the field is very capable. The potential in most of the young players is for great and solid play. They are developing and learning every game. Next year will see a very solid, talented group of 2nd and 3rd year players that can actually take us to the next level.

The upcoming off season and draft will be the real story of team building to get us into the playoffs next year. We are set financially and young, so we should be able to do a lot of off season moves to solidify the holes identified this season.

Let's please just watch and enjoy the wild ride. I'm hoping for competitive games and some shining Pro Bowl plays from some of our guys, but anything more than that is just wishful thinking. Have fun, look forward to game day adventures, and cheer on the Chiefs!

Crane, if I'm not mistaken, you were one of those early on who said you hoped the Chiefs would have a horrible season so they could draft high again. To that I say there's just no pleasing some people.

The problem I'm seeing with this team right now has very little to do with the coach. It's with the players themselves. Blaming the coach is the feel-good, easy way out.

All of our QBs either suck or are getting hurt because our OL is soft. Same reason we have no running game regardless of who carries the ball. Same reason our receivers have no time to get open. Same reason our defense ends up playing 21 minutes in the first half.

As far as why CP is still moping around after all these fruitless years, I suggest you go ask Clark Hunt.

What kills me is that the people who stick up for Herm and his bullshit are the same "positive" people who wanted to give Brodie a chance...and the same people who gave Carl the benefit of the doubt and said there was no five year plan....etc.

Apparently all it takes for one to be considered "optimistic" around here is by failing to scream "Fire Herm Now!" And to think you're calling me stupid?

Look folks, ain't gonna happen anytime soon so why even waste energy discussing it? Even if it did happen, whoever replaced Herm would likely distance himself as far as possible from what Herm has done by abandoning the "youth movement" along with the offensive and defensive systems. In other words, an even bigger rebuild than what we're currently having to endure. Considering we're only 5 games into this - I highly doubt any of you "Fire Herm" types have the patience for the complete overhaul you're demanding. If you're too idiotic to get what I'm saying then I'll try to make it as simple as possible for you. By bringing in a new coach, you're looking at at least 2 seasons very similar to the one we're having and at least 5 years before we can have any hope of seeing a championship caliber team - and that's assuming we bring in the right guy. Can any of you that are ready to jump ship now honestly claim you possess the patience for something like that? All I've got to say to you is be careful what you ask for. It took Cowher 14 years and Ben Roethlisberger to win a Superbowl. Think about it.
